Linda Chavez has done President Bush yet another disservice, but at this point…what does it matter? Chavez has exposed the inescapable truth that Bush apparently doesn’t know any Hispanics who aren’t also idiots.

Chavez and Gonzalez, and that guy that they trot out with Michael Jerkoff who looks like that guy Hernandez who is always on O’Reilly with the funny mustache? That’s it? He wants to make 50 million Hispanics American citizens and the only ones he knows are imbeciles?

Good grief.

One More: the GOP has once again been out-maneuvered (French word, take note) on the right side issue of national defense by … a liberal Democrat. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut has publicly wondered why we’re having tea with scumbags from Iran, and not just bombing the terrorist training camps there, which we all know are training various jihadis who are KILLING U.S. SOLDIERS.

The Company You Keep
In search of anti-Hispanic hostility.

On May 25, I wrote a column entitled “Latino Fear and Loathing” that has provoked considerable anger and recriminations among my fellow conservatives. In the column I asserted that, “Some people just don’t like Mexicans

On reflection, I went too far. I blew off some steam

and in the process offended some erstwhile allies. I should have been more careful in my wording and not tarred with such a broad brush. I should have been clearer that not everyone who opposes the Senate bill does so for illegitimate reasons. What I should have said was that those in positions of influence, whether elected leaders or talk-show hosts, have a special responsibility not to inflame racial passions and animosities by appealing to the small minority of Americans who are motivated by bigotry. I should have emphasized that the exploitation of prejudice, even if it is not shared or intended, is a danger to conservatives and the Republican party — and we should explicitly disavow it. But I’m not altogether unhappy I wrote the column,

I think people like Chavez accusing anti-immigration act 2007 right wingers as racist was meant to be political theater designed to actually sway those democrats who were also against the bill. It takes more than cries of ‘racist’ to move most conservatives these days – after all, we’ve been labled that since pretty much the civil, whether people in our camp are racist or not. (I think it would shock the left nutbags to find out just how tolerant and non-racist/non-bigoted the conservative camp truly is.)

I got about halfway through that vile tripe from Chavez and came to the conclusion this is just more of the same from another White House tool. Chavez was basically unheard from until this ridiculous attempt to shove this bill down our throats. She writes about her problems with the bill and pats herself on the back for her attitudes towards immigrant assimilation. Where the heck has she been? Has she pushed congress for legislation that will do away with bilingual education etc?

All she did, as you have pointed out, is prove that the White House is clueless.

Anger Fuels Better Decisions

Despite its reputation as an impetus to rash behavior, anger actually seems to help people make better choices—even aiding those who are usually very poor at thinking rationally. — (from the article at Live Science by Melinda Wenner)

What about people who get angry and decide they are going to go and shoot people, are those better choices too? This is yet another logic-challenged, liberal claptrap, non-scientific, load of horse manure from Live Science. There is nothing good about getting angry and making decisions. Anger is an emotion and when your emotions rule your actions, not only will you make bad decisions but your likelihood of incarceration is increased many fold.

But if you like being lied to and desire a completely a$$-backwards worldview then you should make “Live Science” your homepage. I’m sure every public school in America has already done so. How about “Industrial Pollution is making Polar Bear penises smaller” you can get all the details on that story at Live Science too. Leftist morons = Live Science.

Take a page from the book on how to eliminate mosquitos written by the engineers and health officials who eradicated malaria and yellow fever in Panama during the building of the Panama Canal. They did not have DDT to use, so they had to go with more basic techniques.
One was to set up an oil drum with a slender drip tube next to any stream that fed into the river or lakes. Oil spreads very very thin over the surface. They set the drip to provide just enough oil to smother the mosquito larvae (which must breathe thru the surface), but not enough to bother any other stream creatures. The fish and other bugs were fine, the mosquito larvae died. Oil, despite all the criticism it gets, is 100% biodegradable, naturally occuring compound.
Also, yard and compound clean-up – no old tires, pots with saucers, cans, buckects, ANYTHING that catches rain water. Clear them out, dry out the pockets of standing water. Older posters will recall the neighborhood cleanups – especially in the South – while they had the beneficial effect of making Billy-Bob’s front yard look better, the goal was to reduce mosquito breeding places.

Hoodlumman on June 11, 2007 at 10:38 AM

Get rid of standing water. Then go to your local hardware store and get the kind of insecticide that attaches to your garden hose. I think it has a chemical called pyrethium in it? (not sure if I spelled that right). Anyway, spray that on your grass and shrubs. it should help the situation a bit. Other than that, lots of bug spray.

Mosquitoes are a deadly issue here on Boston’s South Shore. We’ve had kids and old people die each of the last several seasons from EEE – it’s such a big problem that the State now regularly sprays – We had a major scare when it looked like my then 7-year old son had contracted it – we dogged a bullet – he fought it off after many nights of bad fever.

Boston’s South Shore is very wet (that’s why we grow the majority of the world’s supply of cranberries). Some communities here even had to ban outdoor activities after 6pm. If you search MA and EEE you’ll get a sense for how MA is dealing with them and what chemicals they are using.

TheBigOldDog on June 11, 2007 at 11:07 AM

Thanks for the mosquito advice to all.

I live in row town homes, so I can’t exactly rummage through other’s back yards and take care of standing water. In my backyard fountain, I use mosquito dunks to kill them and I do use pesticides on all the plants on a bi-weekly basis.

These efforts seem futile, as I am detected as a warm, CO2 exhaling target in a matter of minutes. I don’t live close to any stagnant bodies of water (that I know of – there could be some in neighbors’ enclosures) so I’m at a loss besides calling professionals or going with the ol’ Citronella torches and what not.

Hoodlumman on June 11, 2007 at 11:08 AM

mosquito magnets don’t work. trust me. i live in Mosquito Heaven. You must spray your yard. the hot product down here is the mosquito system that lines the perimeter of your property with a hose-like/nozzle gadget. it actually sprays your yard twice a day. I know lots of people with the systems. they really work, but they are expensive as hell to install. (it’s kind of like a sprinkler system on your fence). they can run into the thousands (3000), depending on the size of your yard. quick fix, no. it’s more a long term solution.

pullingmyhairout on June 11, 2007 at 11:08 AM

TheBigOldDog on June 11, 2007 at 10:56 AM

Heh. Waiting for Hoodlumman on June 11, 2007 at 10:38 AM to come back to find out whether the problem is yard or inside house mosquitos.
We lived in malaria zones for years (which overlap with other mosquito-borne disease regions – Yellow Fever, Dengue fever and Rift Valley fever) , three immediate family members with acute malaria in hospital, drips, Quinine, the Works, which out of a large family and 20 years isn’t too bad a record, considering the serious endemic zones we lived in. With that, even though I do appreciate bats and their appetites for small flying bugs, with such deadly infections as malaria, I take a more aggressively interventionist approach to knocking the mosquitos down. It’s just not necssary to torch the neighborhood as natesnake has suggesed, even though the technique has a basic, visceral appeal to someone like me who thinks the only good mosquito is a dead mosquito. :P

“We hate hispanics,” said the editor of National Review Online and an associate editor at National Review Katherine Jean LOPEZ

jdpaz on June 11, 2007 at 11:19 AM

Chavez is disingenuous by stealing stereotypes just to get her way. All her reasons are strawmen:

Free loaders = Chinese (they work for practically nothing, God bless ‘em)
Welfare cheats = us and everyone learns it when they get here
Baby factories, dirty, diseased and idolent = Irish (got in on good beer, but won’t make it here)
Criminal behavior = Italians (also cause high tomato prices)
Won’t learn English = Brits and Africans from the colonies .. oh, and the French

Hispanics? I’ll tell ya some of the reasons I don’t want them here. They’ve got no eye for symmetry; plants and flowers in their garden are always a mishmash and its an eyesore. They leave rooster tails in lawns and water too much. The massive influx will cause a huge move to baseball and away from other sports; Olympic gold wins will drop drastically. I think they use accordians, too; I’m already deathly afraid of Poles and don’t need another ethnic group to watch on that accord. They can fit three times more people in the back of a pickup than any other ethnicity and that will kill public transportation. They’ll never learn to eat dinner at 6:30 PM; I’ll be smelling barbeques all night and it will drive me to obesity.

That’s not all but those are already more than enough.

Dusty on June 11, 2007 at 11:19 AM

There ya go.

These efforts seem futile, as I am detected as a warm, CO2 exhaling target in a matter of minutes. Hoodlumman on June 11, 2007 at 11:08 AM

Mosquitos love me, so I can commiserate. Discover magazine had a very useful article years ago written by a guy who researched the biting patterns of different species of mosquitos. He discovered that the malaria mosquito does not bit the same as other mosquitos – preferring the lower legs and feet. Thus, in malaria zones, wearing long pants and socks during the evening and night hours does wonders. Plus, sleeping under a net.
He also found that especially malarial-carrying mosquitos were attracted to the bacteria odor of feet, which is what they homed in on.
That’s just to inform you that you can know your enemy. US mosquitos will bite anywhere. If you can’t scour the area because of neighbors and so forth, then you cover yourself. For evening outings on the patio, use bug sprays on your own skin (like OFF) and clothing that provides a barrier – loose pants, longer sleeved shirts thrown over the shoudlersand arms while outside. Also, for casual hanging out – Bug Off treated clothing available at outdoors outfitters like LL BEan and Cabelas, among other suppliers.
SMoke from torches and so forth get blown away by the wind.

Bush in Bulgaria:

He has been criticized for not doing enough for the bill, which is bitterly opposed by many conservatives in his party. Some lawmakers claim it is dead for the year, but Bush said it was only one step back after “two steps forward” and vowed to push ahead.

“I believe we can get it done,” he said.

What was the second step that this bill made and what was the step back? I don’t see that he has made ANY forward progress on this shameless attempt at saving his 2nd term.

Really, what progress has been made?

All this has done for me is pushed me to challenge Bush, whereas in the past I would generally give him the benefit of the doubt.

How many of us doubt that there are some serious back room negotiations going on right now? What do you figure, a couple days and the traitors will come out with some amendments to this bill that will give them the 15 votes they need for cloture?

People, these fools still don’t get it. They think we want this convoluted horse$hit bill when what we really want is a stand alone bill that solves singles issues one at a time.

I guarantee you that they have taken polls that identify the minimal areas that they need to make concessions on in order to get this monstrosity passed. We need to be completely unmovable in our resolve to get a stand alone bill to secure the borders. Pass it on!

When Bush says “I believe we can get it done,”, the image of he and the senate lined up behind a bent over American public. With NO KY!

We all are saying it…shut down the border, secure it, then let’s talk about the next step.

Congress people: WE DON’T TRUST YOU!! GET IT? WE CONSIDER ALL OF YOU LIARS!

I guarantee I have more support on that statement across the country, then they have on amnesty.
