Paris “shocked” at media attention, wants focus on U.S. troops

posted at 10:57 am on June 10, 2007 by Allahpundit

She’s dropping her appeal so that MSNBC doesn’t have to resort to look-ins when the nation’s chief military officer is replaced. This one comes straight from the heart … of the publicist and attorneys who wrote it:

Today I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge’s decision. While I greatly appreciate the Sheriff’s concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge…

I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world.

Here’s my latest work. I call it, “God watching over Paris.” I’m going to lobby MM this afternoon to switch to an all-gossip format. Cross those fingers!

Wuh? No gay bomb posts? Then we could work on figuring out if gay-dar worked or not.

Now THAT was clever! Did that guy ever show up on Jimmy Kimmel? Glad to see you’re getting a sense of humor about this.

So, in deference to her request, here is a very interesting article that may be some pretty good news in Iraq.

Lt. Col. Troy D. Perry, the battalion commander in the area, told Fil that there was an increasing pattern of bombers allowing U.S. patrols to pass hidden roadside bombs that were then detonated a short time later as Iraqi forces drove by.

The mounting terror campaign against Iraqi troops and police appears designed to blunt U.S. progress in creating a stable local force so the Americans can go home.

The bad guys have to attack that which is the most threatening tactic of the coalition. So, the IA must be making life difficult for them. Hopefully, the same sense of duty to their fallen comrades will motivate these Iraqi forces to stiffen their resolve rather than give up and leave the country to the terrorists.

Thanks to “she who will not be named” for getting us back on track. :-)

Did the publicists and lawyers at least try to give the release an air of authenticity by drafting it in crayon?

Blacklake on June 10, 2007 at 11:10 AM

Hey Allah, you know that famous picture from Vietnam with a girl fleeing a napalmed village? The same guy that took that pic took those pics of Paris Hilton crying.

*sigh* Seriously folks, FOUR posts about that skank on HA is TOO much! Consolidate them into one and let those who want click away but NO NEW POSTS PLEASE..COVER SOMETHING ELSE..ANYTHING ELSE…PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Lol…Don’t take it to heart AP. Hard to understand why people rail against services that are not only free, but where they can also exercise freedom of choice. Pretty silly, in my estimation.

Also quite funny your link comes from iraqslogger. I guess HA is not the only ‘political’ blog on this story.

Spirit of 1776 on June 10, 2007 at 11:23 AM

Yeah, why are you guys wasting pixels blogging about this “Koran” book, when all this stuff is going on with Paris? The book’s like 1000 years old and, totally, “not hot.”

JohnW on June 10, 2007 at 11:39 AM

If the staff at Hot Air doesn’t like all posts going to these Paris stories, then don’t post the stories.

Simple enough solution to digest I hope.

Sorry if I offend the people behind Hot Air–perhaps you are chuckling and enjoying this spurt of tabloid-mania and do not mean to speak down to your readers. Maybe I read you wrong on that. Or you do not mean to bait your readers with these stories and then dress up in Aristocratic clothes and sneer at us in the mud. Heh.

But posting so many Paris stories and not liking the attention they receive is like putting your computer in the shower and then throwing a Lindsey Graham hissy fit because it got wet.

But these stories do speak to one important theme that others have commented on: The saturation of pseudo-famous people and the special privileges our celebrity obsessed culture grants them. So understand, “Oh Mighty Posters and Deciders on Stories”, that many of us, me certainly, are loving every minute of Paris’ just rewards.

But if this site is following a bait and denegrate policy….

If I knew how to photoshop, I’d put the 9/11 Guy inside the car. :)

I don’t think that is the case. It’s about hits right? The more hits, the more revenue. I love capitalism and HA should do whatever it takes, I’d just like to see an open thread for the losers like me who want to discuss something else. I mean really, they’re aren’t that many of us, so we wont be hurting anyone, and ahit is a hit right?

exercise freedom of choice…
Spirit of 1776 on June 10, 2007 at 11:23 AM

That’s a straw man. Can’t people who like it here ask for an open thread and not be told to “exercise freedom of choice”?

Yep, and you can count me in there. I’d love a thread for the headlines especially. (But that is not the same thing, as I’m sure you are aware, as the criticism that AP takes from readers on this site when he doesn’t do what they want.)

We are becoming useful idiots.

Deterioration of of the last free Society.
Yoga and You.
The Mass Media.

The attempted control of thought leaders seems to be complete.

All I keep thinking about this trial is: If only it were Rosie…

Hilton is harmless.

Rosie is malicious.

The judge, sour.

I’m going to lobby MM this afternoon to switch to an all-gossip format.

Cool. The Ventliators could perform in the TV room of a celebrity rehab center.

infidel4life on June 10, 2007 at 1:24 PM

Cute photoshop. And while I am in just about the last 1% of folks that feel sorry for Ms. Hilton I have to say that the disgusting triumphalism displayed by allahpundit here says far, far more about what a loser he is than anything about Paris Hilton.

Dwilkers on June 10, 2007 at 1:49 PM

Hey Allah?

If you can *EVER* get your face out of Rosie’s crotch and dig yourself out of the tabloids?

We are actually in a war. I know, shocking and all. But still, its true.

Dwilkers on June 10, 2007 at 1:53 PM

Dwilkers….

BUH BYE!

csdeven on June 10, 2007 at 2:19 PM

csdeven-

Buh bye to you too!

If one must of course lick the boots of the leader then I would rather be me than thee. By all means, lap it up!

Dwilkers on June 10, 2007 at 2:55 PM

Dwilkers on June 10, 2007 at 2:55 PM

There is quite a large area of friendly balance between the two extremes of ‘boot-licking’ and the disrespectful insults you have displayed. You won’t make many friends around here with that sour attitude.

infidel4life on June 10, 2007 at 4:06 PM

Dwilkers on June 10, 2007 at 2:55 PM

Hey, if you can get AP to allow you to act like that then more power to ya. I haven’t seen him put up with of that kind of language, so maybe you are allowed yet no one else is. Well, most around here wont talk like that, but that is beside the point.

csdeven on June 10, 2007 at 5:07 PM

Dwilkers, AP isn’t Rosie’s type. :)

I wouldn’t mind seeing an open thread for the headlines, or at least some way to comment on them.

Hmm…where was this request when she wasn’t in trouble?
