Aussie rape mufti hits the bricks; Update: Pushed?

After apologizing for rapists, then apologizing for apologizing for rapists and reaffirming his love for Australia, then appearing on Egyptian television to un-affirm his love for Australia, then turning up in Iran to urge the world’s Muslims to “stand in the trenches” with the mullahs, he’d worn out his welcome. As far as you and I are concerned, that is; Australia’s Muslims couldn’t get enough:

A Muslim cleric who whipped up a storm last year when he told his Sydney flock that women who don’t wear the veil invite rape has resigned from his post as the supreme leader of Australia’s 300 000 Muslims.

Clerics from around the country meeting in Melbourne decided Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali, 67, should keep the post of Mufti of Australia that he has held since 1988.

But the Eyptian-born cleric declined their offer of a further term.

He’s also a Holocaust denier and a supporter of suicide bombings. And still, they wanted him back.

I’ll remember him as he was — an object of contempt and ridicule.

Update: The Age is reporting that he was voted out, five to two, and that the alleged request that he stay on was just a face-saving gesture. For him, maybe; for the clerics themselves, given his track record, it’s a face-losing gesture.

I understand he’s starting a new career as a leftist blogger.

What is going on in the world? I just don’t understand how someone who says women “invite” rape if they don’t wear a veil, denies the Holocaust, and just looooveess suicide bombings has followers! I don’t care how long it goes on, or how many people buy this crap, I will still never understand and it will certainly never stop scaring the crap out of me. A couple of crazy people are much less scary than thousands who are unafraid to die.

Bon voyage indeed!

You know if the nutroots went after these mufti’s the way they go after Republicans there would be white flags all over the caliphate.

Luv them Aussies!

Of course John Edwards feels we need to sit down with these people and understand their little nuances and after a couple of hookas of Afghani gold and some really good black tea, why everything will be fine. Maybe he will try to join the Edwards team, that is if Adam Gadahn hasn’t already sewn up the job.
1 down 299,999 more to go for the Aussies.

He has followers because of those mythical “moderate muslims”. I truly believe there is no such thing as a “moderate muslim”… a muslim is a muslim is a muslim.

NeverSubmit on June 10, 2007 at 7:42 PM

After the remarks, 34 Muslim community organisations signed a petition endorsing his remarks.

Feeding the beast…inexplicable. He needs to be shunned, ignored and forgotten.

Al-Hilali has denied the Holocaust, defended suicide bombers, described as “God’s work against oppressors” the 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States, and blamed Jews for “all the wars and problems that threaten the peace and stability of all the world.”

Ugly mufti on top of it all.

Entelechy on June 10, 2007 at 7:46 PM

The bright side was he sparked a bikini protest in OZ. I love the Aussies and if this country succumbs it looks like a good place to head to.

one can only hope he gets what he deserves. It is a shame some sharp Ozzies didn’t give it to him before he left.

Too bad we probably couldn’t head to Australia even if we wanted to since their immigration policy only allows you in if you have a specific skill that they need. Wow, what a concept, looking out for your own country’s economic longevity!

Also, UGH, how does this tool even get the opportunity to decline an offer to do involving influence???

hollygolightly on June 10, 2007 at 8:17 PM

Why would someone that repressed immigrate to a country where topless beaches are the rule rather than the exception anyway?

Brilliant!

He blamed non-muslims for Australia’s drought. I suppose he’ll blame them for the floods north of Sydney and up their East Coast. At least it’s becoming Winter down there, so no fear of bathing suits where he lives at least.

If Australia only accepts immigrants with skills Oz needs, what needed skill did this mufti loon possess?

Comic relief?

profitsbeard on June 10, 2007 at 9:51 PM

Wow! That guy who interviewed (made an ass of him) him was lucky the sheik didn’t declair a fatwa on him and try to behead him himself!
Aside from that,,, that was pretty freakin hilarious!
That is the way those crazy strict muslims ought to be treated… with ridicule. Just like what every other religion is subjected to when it gets too big for it’s britches!

Oh, they’re out there. The moderate muslims that is. But they’re too freaking terrified to speak out as they are all too familiar with what their religious brothers will do to them if they do.

Maybe a jerk store in Australia called and said they were missing him????

hollygolightly on June 10, 2007 at 10:02 PM

Here are a few of ‘Australias 300,000 Muslims’

Apparently upset that ‘Doin it LebStyle’ isn’t recognized as a religious exception.

Heh Heh For sure that Mifti has lost all of his street cred with the old old school crew. It has very funny. Whats with the Santa hat?

Is his welfare in jeopardy yet? And does Australia really have 300,000 Muslims? Because if so it might be lost. Western nations seem to surrender at the 10% mark.

Yep, the “moderate Muslim” is as mythical as a unicorn, but I’d give odds a unicorn would be found before a a moderate Muslim would be!

Notice how the Islamo-fascist threw out the “racist” card, typical play to defelect light from their hatred of us and their ultimate goal of destroying us!

Also, off topic for this thread, but this link fits perfectly with the on-going Rudy vs NY ferrit lover nut job threads…exit question, could this ferret be part of a Muslim Jihadist cell?

Uncovered shrimp?

Fair enough, though…Australia did say that people who wanted sharia law imposed there weren’t welcome. At least this guy can listen.

‘mufti muzzle’” Bwaaaahaaaaa

Guardian on June 11, 2007 at 11:42 AM

For him, maybe; for the clerics themselves, given his track record, it’s a face-losing gesture.

Not necessarily so. Those in the “face-saving” cultures understand this sort of play, and don’t automatically connect the dots like that. They know that what happened in the back room and what is said in public are very different things. If the clerics had publically humiliated him, that would have reflected badly on them, as far as their base is concerned.

TexasDan on June 11, 2007 at 1:33 PM

The Meat Mullah may be out because he’s become too embarassing, but there’s a million more meat mullahs to take his place. The Meat Mullah is doing nothing more than saying what the radical Muslims think.

Stop and think for a moment. Doesn’t it strike you as odd that Australian Muslims need imams from foreign countries? The lowdown is that Saudi Arabia is training all these Wahhabi imams as part of its missionary campaign to spread Wahhabism around the world. The Saudis decided back in the 1980s to use their surplus petrodollars to export Wahhabism. They’ve put over a billion bucks into the effort, quietly building mosques all over the West and stocking them with Wahhabi radicals. They’re doing it in Australia, Europe, and America. That’s why 80% of the mosques in America are radicalized and 100% of them are full of Wahhabist hate literature. That’s why all the imams in the prison system are radicals. Guess who funds CAIR? The Saudis!

It’s not just about the Meat Mullah. It’s not just about Australia. It’s about a Saudi Wahhabi assault on the non-Muslim world. Everybody knows about the violent jihad of terror the Wahhabis wage around the world. Less obvious is the non-violent arm of the jihad expressed through mosques and political action.
