Four men in custody, seven additional men sought.
The defendants identified last weekend were “just a piece of it,” the official told The Associated Press. “We are definitely seeking more players. We are targeting others overseas.”
The official familiar with the case spoke only on the condition of anonymity because of not being authorized to speak publicly. The official declined to provide details about the possible suspects, or in what countries they are being sought.
I’m sure this is all just to distract us from the collapse of the immigration bill, or something. Because, you know, the war on terror is just a bumper sticker slogan.
More: The war on terror must be a bumper sticker slogan in Italy, too.
More: And in Lebanon, too.
Lebanon’s army on Saturday pounded al Qaeda-inspired Islamic militants hiding in a Palestinian refugee camp in renewed heavy clashes following a few days of intermittent fighting.
Black smoke billowed from the Nahr el-Bared camp in northern Lebanon where witnesses reported some of the heaviest army shelling since June 1, when the Lebanese army — using tanks and artillery — launched an offensive to drive the Fatah Islam militants from their positions inside the settlement.
I wonder who CNN paid to get that story.

And what do all of the susects have in common? Don’t answer that! Somebody might get OFFENDED!
Sort of Off Topic: Insurgents fire a rocket at a prison run by U.S. troops in Iraq … and kill six terrorist *prisoners*! HAAA!
Tony737 on June 9, 2007 at 10:43 AM
Come on Bryan it was just in the planning stage! It’s more important to talk about the Boo-hoo celebrities in jail.
Drtuddle on June 9, 2007 at 10:43 AM
What was it the PBS crap with Bill “Oscar” Moyers-”The Wiener” whining about how the press was asleep when Bush “conned” the country into the war in Iraq? How about the MSM wake up to our enemies!
Drtuddle on June 9, 2007 at 10:51 AM
Oh come on. The alleged perps were just a bunch of AQ wannabe buffoons. Everyone knows jet fuel doesn’t explode.
“War on Terror” is a terrible name. It doesn’t even come close to describing the war we’re in. In the next Republican debate, I’d like to hear a question like – “Many have said this war is mis-characterized as the WOT, if you become President, would you rename this conflict and if so, what would it be called?”

Do not get me wrong, I respect the workman like manner our FBI and CIA are quietly going after these evil doers. But I can’t help but wonder if that lady’s man, Komrade Klinton or that numb skull Algore, were in office we’d be treated to a lip biting stare into the camera and with quivering voice telling us how tirelessly they have been supervising this investigation…
Zorro on June 9, 2007 at 11:04 AM
The lefties just want us to treat terrorism as we would a crime: do nothing until after the terrorists strike, then conduct a constitutionally impeccalbe investigation, make perfect arrests, give full constitutional protections to the guilty (who probably “martyred” themselves in the attack), and let them free on a technicality.
Yup, that will protect civilization.

Trying to understand the difference between Alfred E. Newman exploding a 500lb bomb in a mall and Zawahiri doing the same. Anyone?

Send in the Silky Pony Peace Corps!

Northern Italy, esp around the Milan area is like Birmingham, UK and Marseilles,France…seething hotbeds of Islamists.
This JFK thing is scary on many levels but the worst is that it is being played out in T&T which had a COUP attempt by Islamic militants about 15 years ago. They dont then just “disappear”…they plot, they grow stronger and they EXPORT terror! Dangerous, dangerous times we are living in.

Call it what it is: WWIII

The War for Civilization.

Jet Fuel can explode when heated to the proper temperature, and a small explosion can heat up Jet Fuel to the proper temperature and cause a chain reaction. Anyways…. you sound like a 9/11 truther that complains about how it’s impossible for the aircraft that hit the towers to have exploded in the manner that they did. If that’s so, why is it that almost every aircraft crash that I’ve ever seen on video ends with the aircraft being in a ball of flames? Seriously, I think those videos say everything.

Call me kooky, but methinks he was being sacastic…Maybe not. That’s just how my mind takes those sorts of things on this site.
Viewtifulgare on June 9, 2007 at 2:18 PM
I second that. Only this time, we’re the only ones in the entire world fighting the enemy.
Viewtifulgare on June 9, 2007 at 2:19 PM
Were they illegal immigrants?
Tim Burton on June 9, 2007 at 2:26 PM
How about they all face the same direction when they pray. Assuming you weren’t being sarcastic with :confused.

In my administration I would allow corporations and celebrities to bid for naming rights. Put a little logo on the tanks…..
TBinSTL on June 9, 2007 at 2:40 PM
In that case it must be WWIV. We can not leave out the long cold one.

Only if you promise to choose something better than the london olympics people did… ;)
dead-duck on June 9, 2007 at 3:16 PM
Damn, I’m getting cynical. When I saw the headline, I thought maybe the truthers were trying to link Dick Cheney to the JFK plot.
austinnelly on June 9, 2007 at 3:17 PM
austinnelly–I thought the same thing. Grassy knoll time.
see-dubya on June 9, 2007 at 4:57 PM
lol! You know there are a few of them spinning their little gears at night trying to make the connections.
WisCon on June 9, 2007 at 5:46 PM
It was sarcasm but I actually read or heard some goofball say this in all seriousness.
Anyway, I don’t often comment so some of you don’t know me. I could use this next time “/sarc” but then that wouldn’t be much fun…
CliffHanger on June 9, 2007 at 7:12 PM
Except that the world hasn’t put skin in the game yet, so maybe we’re still ramping up to WWIII.
Geez, I wish we would get it on already, otherwise our grade-schoolers will be fighting this thing.
CliffHanger on June 9, 2007 at 7:19 PM
Will the New York Treason keep that space on page A30 reserved for any follow-up news articles on the widening investigation?
After all, they initially considered this plot to bomb Kennedy International Airport a non-issue.
doingwhatican on June 10, 2007 at 8:02 AM
The people who wanted to blow up JFK were, well, idiots. The people willing to supply money and/or explosives are the issue. I think it’s slightly more troubling, in this instance, if these guys are linked to Iran, rather than AQ.
This could be a sign that Iran is starting to flex a bit when it comes to actions on the continent. However, I have to say it again, this specific plot was lame.

Nuke’em I say Nuke all those sand-monkeys to hell I say!
Yea they are real men of genius, and they could have BLEW UP NY, BLEW-ED IT UP REAL GOOD, THEY COULD-A.
Hype it up ladies and gentlemen. You’re spreading fear, doing the terrorist work for them. Nice work btw. OH MY GOD THEY ARE GOING TO GET US….RUN. Live your life and stop talking about about how mighty the terrorist are all the time. Geeee, they are there and real, but its like driving your car off a cliff to swat a fly. Calm down. Everyone in the car knows there is a fly in the car. Stop yelling, THERE IT IS!!!
So how much coverage would be acceptable to you? Cover of every news paper, lead story on morning, mid and nightly news, 5 times on week-ends, for a month? The problem was the idiot US attorney, Bush appointee must be from Texas, said some really stupid stuff and sensationalized it. At least bloomberg had some common sense calm rational comments about it the day after.
NY Times, yea they hate bush and will not give him credit for anything. Boo-Who, so sad tell your mommy. How many papers, web and tv news sorces are there? What’s new. Someone has to hate Bush. It’s not like he does not deserve it with poll numbers in the toilet.
I’m all for killing the 4 plus conspirators that plotted JFK, no matter how bumbling they are. We should hunt them all down and get them; put their heads on a stick. But for Gods sakes stop whining and crying like babies about the MSM.
That is the problem, the “War on Terror” is turned into politics all the time. It should be bi-partisan, calm and a factual evaluation of each event. We now know about JFK, the threat, now lets move on to the next thing, which we know is out there. I recall post 9/11 the news reporting that fuel farmes where possible targets. Lets stop giving them ideas.
The american people don’t want to hear about every plot in detail; they want to hear about Paris Hilton. That is the american people, not the media, which give them what they want. Even Bill-Oh had Paris as a topic every night.
I agree it should have received more coverage but you can’t force the nation to care in detail about it. They are living their lives and IGNORING the terror. May be that is a good thing to do.
BTW thanks Italy and Lebanon, but of course these are separate issues from JFK. Yes it has Muslims killing people in common, but how does it make JFK worse or should I say, why make it sound worse?
I suggest next time you tie three unrelated events together to make one sound worse, add the words mushroom cloud, dirty bomb and anthrax’s in there. Also drop in the words little children in some where.
Bush is the boy that cried wolf too many times. He and his gang used dubious terror alerts to deflect attention and manipulate the american people for political gain. Not to mention the “boo-boo’s” on intel prior to attacking Iraq. Sorry if I am just a little cynical after +6 years.
We need to add the sub text to the story ………..Only Republicans can save us, and George W Bush is our hero. Dems are big poopie pants. That will show Them Terrorist.
