Heart-ache: Paris “teetering on the brink”; Update: Raw deal for Paris? Update: “Deteriorating, life-threatening”
posted at 2:33 pm on June 9, 2007 by Allahpundit
Are constant medical attention and round-the-clock police protection enough to preserve this delicate flower? Or will the thought of being away from the media for 20+ days cause her to wilt? All men have their breaking point, my friends. An anxious world waits and wonders.
Update: So much heart-ache. So very, very much.
Update: Justice for Paris!
Q: Are other inmates usually released before they’ve served their full terms?
A: Yes. County jails are overcrowded, [Sheriff] Baca said, and most misdemeanor offenders serve just 10 percent of their sentence. “Under our 10 percent early release program, (Hilton) would have not served any time in our jail or would have been directly put on home electric monitoring system,” he said Friday.
Q: Are other prisoners released because of medical conditions?
A: Yes. “It happens all the time,” [Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve] Whitmore said, depending on the nature of the offense. Nonviolent offenders typically serve 10 percent of their sentence, he said, adding that Hilton “has done twice as much (time) as any other person with a similar offense.”
They expect she’ll be out in 18 days, if not sooner.
Update: Oh, for god’s sake.

You’all make light of this story, but there are 20-30-40 million other people in this country who are just as much the spoiled brat as is Paris Hilton. You can see it in the way they drive, their behavior in stores, while at work.
If they day ever comes that someone somewhere says, “you can’t have that”, or “you can’t do that”, their reaction will be identical. Don’t you remember the story about Home Depot, and shop lifters? What do you think the immigration ‘issue’ is about, immigration?
Why do you think the ‘nut roots’ behave the way they do?

I hadn’t thought of that before, but it does seem like the most likely explanation for Paris’ meltdown and “medical condition.” She can’t go 20 days without her fix and is getting hysterical.

Poor Paris…as her namesake was violated by the booted jackboots of the Nazis during WWII, this Paris suffers the jackboot of the horribly unfair legal system.
What OUR Paris needs is an underground…hairless girly boy metrosexuals, your angel languishes in unjust captivity. There will be no free drinks, drugs, or intimate encounters until she is free. Unite, oh jobless scions of wealthy families.
And, in closing, please allow me a full throated guffaw at her expense..BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Thanks for the update AP. Any more pictures of her having a temper tantrum, please post them. I’m going to make a scrap book.

Into each life a little rain must fall.
I’m sure her parents are in just as much shock as she is but then the whole family oozes privilege and if you don’t believe in privilege as most of us do not then watching the privileged learn to be ordinary is I think..a good thing.
I’m hoping that celebs and hoity toities all get a little learn’n from this Municipal justice and don’t expect quite so much public infuriating privilege in the future and I hope that everyday folks don’t allow them to take advantage either.

I don’t think this is true at all, the Judge gave her leniency and she blew him off and now she’s paying the price for contempt just like anyone else would.
It’s simple, don’t piss off the Judge, everyone else understands this simple axiom. Paris doesn’t?

Entelechy on June 9, 2007 at 3:35 PM
This was my thought as well. While I have absolutely no proof of this, my guess is that her “medical condition” was withdrawal symptopms and the “drugs that the jail was not able to provide” is methadone. Her behavior in the court room (shaking, rocking back-and-forth, pale, sweating, crying out) is also an indicator. I have a good friend that kicked the smack habit, and I know he went through hell. Paris probably doesn’t want to quit, or couldn’t handle the extreme discomfort.

I don’t know if this is a true story or just courtroom humor, but a co-worker told it when he got back from a court date.
So, the guy in front of me got sentenced to three months in prison, and he sneered and said, “Ha, three months that’s a piece of cake, I can do that standing on my head!”
The Judge replied, “Well let’s make it seven months and give you a chance to get your feet back on the ground.”

I understand Paris has retained Senator Ted Kennedy to be her career advisor after she’s released from jail.
When she asked Ted how she’d get around the stigma of being a “born with a silver spoon in her mouth” convicted criminal, Ted replied that they’d cross that bridge when they came to it…

The poor little princess had the money to hire a driver and could have avoided all of this if she had just obeyed the laws that everyone else has to obey. Must have been rough for her and her delusional parents to find out that laws apply to Paris too. Bummer.

Well, my Dad is a 36-year retired veteran of LASO, and my brother is 17 years in on his career with LASO.
Per my dad and my brother, and their friends/coworkers (some of whom I know as well), Sheriff Lee Baca is a “scientologist” who panders to the social elite and takes advantage of peoples gift giving willingness to the point that he had accepted more gifts in one year from donators than all 57 other California Sheriff’s combined, almost $50,000 worth of gifts. He is accused of under reproting his gifts and donations as well. They also referred to him as a “useless turd”. Nice. Makes one wonder what the morale is like on the LASO. It turns out that less than 10% of the Sheriff’s Department Deputies were for his reelection last election. The Sheriff’s Union opposed him as well. But he had a lot of campaign help from celebritys and other welthy high rollers, apparently.
I thought, well, maybe they’re bitter employees. So I did some checking. Guess what, they were actually being kind.
Lee Baca is well on his way to earning the title, ‘Most Crooked Sheriff In The State’.
1. In 2004, he took more gifts than California’s other 57 sheriffs combined.
2. put one of his closest friends on the payroll as a $105,000-a-year adviser.
3. accepted more than $42,000 in gifts since taking office, including some from those who do business with his department.
4. authorized favorable treatment for Mel Gibson after a sheriff’s spokesman initially said the arrest occurred “without incident” and made no mention of the superstar’s now-notorious anti-Semitic rant
5. withheld video and audio tapes of the Mel Gibson drunk driving arrest, asserting they were exempt from open-government laws.
…and much more.

That’s an exceptional point. Would similar treatment of a distressed Gitmo detainee constitute torture? The world wonders.
Meanwhile, I find it fascinating that the AP has suggested Paris is like America’s Lady Di, as I was thinking precisely the same thing the other day (the biggest difference, I suppose, being that Hilton only slept her way into fame, having already been born with the money).
When she gets out I can only pray she goes ahead and marries a Kennedy, to unify the houses and render the circle complete.

Paris Hilton is paid to show up to openings of nightclubs and chic stores.
So, what important national and world news is the media NOT reporting that they should be, instead of focussing on this professional promoter? While the media “helpfully” enables all of us to observe Paris like voyeurs all week, what are we not paying attention to and should be?

I think she probably is really suffering. My sense of her is that she is A person who is on the cell phone, or IM-ing friends bascically all the time (when she’s not with them). Nothing important is going on, just stuff like “OMG, did you see that outfit that so and so was wearing? Are her thighs, like, huge or what?” and so on. She probably doesn’t read anything other than magazines or tabloids, basically doesn’t have a substantive thought in her head. Those IM’s and inane cell phone conversations remind her of who she is, where she is, and why she is on this planet every waking moment. Now she is in solitary, alone with Paris Hilton, who, she is finding out, is a majorly boring person. Without the cell phone, she’s lost the compass that answers (or blocks out) her deepest existential questions, and she has no fallback skills to rely on. She like a bat that’s been taken out of a cave, and put in, say, West Texas, where it is totally flat and there a very few trees. The signals go out, but they don’t bounce back. That is going to be one freaked out bat. (That’s why they live in caves after all, because it’s counterintuitive that a blind creature would live in close quarters, otherwise.) So Paris is one freaked out bat right now, and she’ll either discover some resources, or she’ll have a nervous breakdown. I hope the former, because it would be somewhat redemptive to see that wealthy wastrel, finally GET A FREAKING LIFE!!!
smellthecoffee on June 9, 2007 at 10:56 PM
Introspection, for some, is the chance to reveal themselves and take an honest look at who they are and what could be changed for the better.
For others, it reveals an inner hell that they cannot overcome.
Maybe she’ll come away from this with ideas on how to use her money and power for a better purpose than IM’ing and club hopping.
Or, maybe not.

Montana on June 10, 2007 at 1:10 AM
How do you figure all that?
Paris Hilton has spent her entire adult life acting up, acting out, and horribly acting (a thespian, she is not). She has garnered the headlines and the papparazzi’s camera lens’s for as long as I can remember during the entire 21st century. Whether she’s been leaking hardcore porn starring hers truly, partying hard in front of the camera’s, intentionally setting up papparazzi photo ops, breaking the law, getting caught, getting off light then gloating about it, having histrionic episodes whenever anyone publicly jokes about her or criticizes her… etc ad nauseum!
She’s been setting herself up for this her entire adult life. She has asked for everything she is now getting, and I can all but guarantee you once she’s out of the pokey, she’ll be back for seconds and thirds.
Heck, for all we know this entire episode may just be one big giant intentional set up. Maybe she is playing this to the hilt, making the best of it purely for self-gratification. I highly doubt she’s on her death bed, although, she might feel like it as she detoxes (which may also be part of the plan… brat packers in Malibu Rehabs is such old hat). I think as she sits in jail, privately and unobserved by the public/papparazzi, she’s just slathering herself in glee knowing the the entire MSM is going gaga over this, and her fans are feeling horribly sorry for her and writing her love letters by the bags full.
I bet she even deeply appreciates all the ‘Mean People that suck’. It’s just more attention.
No, it’s not schadenfreude, deriving pleasure from her suffering… all the world’s a stage for Paris and we are merely players. We’re just playing along to one degree or another. It’s simply a diversion with some comical value from the actual serious matters of news that we have been bombarded with for far too long.
However, the bleeding hearts can bleed all they want over poor Paris. It is my belief that, generally, those bleeding hearts live their lives vicariously through the glitzy, glamorous, and sexy lives of celebritys because their own lives are so darn mundane.
Personally, I have a great deal of respect for that Judge. Finally, someone with judicial stroke who wasn’t afraid to use it when dealing with a so-called celebrity. It is a rarity. Now I hope he uses that same stroke to slap the Sheriff upside the head. He should, the Sheriff’s had it coming for a long while.
SilverStar830 on June 10, 2007 at 2:01 AM
Excellent post Silverstar.
What these bleeding hearts and Paris herself need to understand is that this world is filled with REAL problems and their REAL effects.
Want trauma? Look into the massacres in African nations. The severing of hands and feet of all able bodied men and BOYS and OLD men perpetrated there.
Look at Islams rituals of female genital mutilation, of stoning, of severe beating. You name it.
Oh, I’m sorry, was that too real? Then turn on E!.
What I described, and have thankfully never witnessed personally…THOSE are real problems. THOSE are worth our attention and THOSE are worth our actions. Not some smarmy-camera-hungry-socialite-spending-mommy-and-daddy’s money.
Oh? What? Do I sound like I am engaging in class warfare? You bet I !!! I am against all those without class. Paris leading that pack.
It’s not FAIR!!!!! Waaaa! She should date Philip Rearden.
