Video: “Lil’ Bush” shows U.S. troops firing on Iraqi civilians

It debuts next Wednesday on Comedy Central. I realize, per leftist rules of humor, that its subject matter makes it officially Funny, but I’ve been curious from the promos to see just how Funny it’ll be. Judge for yourself; Raw Story’s got a short clip from the first show. It’s standard stuff — sight gags, pop-culture references (note Condi’s Slash-like top hat during the concert scene), and the obligatory war-for-oil jokes — until the very end, when the mask of humor slips a bit. Entirely gratuitous, not at all fair or amusing, but sort of obligatory given whom the audience is likely to be, no?

Hey, that’s what makes it Funny. Click the image to watch.

Comedy Central is pandering to a bunch of mentally ill people with that show… and to impressionable children (be it literally or maturity-level wise) who don’t know any better, but will later think they do know better because they’ll watch that cartoon and take it part & parcel as truth in cartoon form.

Time to add Comedy Central to the cable lock-out list… *sigh* the list sure is getting long :/

SilverStar830 on June 8, 2007 at 2:38 PM

Not funny…

CliffHanger on June 8, 2007 at 2:39 PM

In comedy, timing is everything.

I question the timing.

saint kansas on June 8, 2007 at 2:39 PM

Who cares? That runt left himself wide open to lame attacks like this when he allowed common lefty twaddle like this to ossify into pop culture “truth”. I’m sick of defending his inarticulate ass.

Fred on June 8, 2007 at 2:40 PM

Time to add Comedy Central to the cable lock-out list…

Never unlocked it. Shame to have 100 channels and only a dozen or so are safe for my kids.

BacaDog on June 8, 2007 at 2:41 PM

Trying to get another hour from their zombified Stewart fans?

I swear to God, The Daily Show has become a daily DNC revival meeting.

Bad Candy on June 8, 2007 at 2:42 PM

South Park is the only show worth watching on Comedy Central.

Bad Candy on June 8, 2007 at 2:43 PM

This whole let’s make fun of Bush the idiot humor was kind of funny 4 years ago. Now it’s getting ridiculous.

V15J on June 8, 2007 at 2:46 PM

South Park is the only show worth watching on Comedy Central.

Agreed.

Mind of Mencia

is un-tollerable.

natesnake on June 8, 2007 at 2:46 PM

The page would not load for me. I’m probably better off not watching anyway, it will just pi$$ me off.

abinitioadinfinitum on June 8, 2007 at 2:49 PM

That was incredibly stupid.

If you want to see the best (and eerily prescient) Bush satire, check out the South Park guys’ That’s My Bush.

Skywise on June 8, 2007 at 2:50 PM

There’s good political humor, which, even if I don’t agree with it, still makes me laugh.

Then there’s this.

Tired. Boring. Offensive for the sheer sake of being offensive.

And, the animation sucks.

yo on June 8, 2007 at 2:52 PM

You know what’s really funny?

Their bad timing. I’d be willing to wager Comedy Central was just counting on the outrage of conservatives to generate free publicity for this show.

Since we’re all suffering from BES (Bush Estrangement Syndrome), conservatives are a bit less willing to take up our swords and defend the president right now.

No buzz, minimal viewers.

I give the show two months.

Slublog on June 8, 2007 at 2:58 PM

ah, who cares… if the glue sniffin’ liberals want to prove their progressive bona fides by consuming products dispensed by the multi-national corporations that they hate so much, then let them. IBS and ED make billions for the pharmaceutical industry, so why shouldn’t BDS ultimately fill the coffers of the Carlyle Group to the tune of billions each year?

rw on June 8, 2007 at 2:58 PM

conservatives are a bit less willing to take up our swords and defend the president right now.

You got that right

tomas on June 8, 2007 at 3:00 PM

I ran down to Borders Express over lunch to pick up a Captain Underpants book for my son. The “Express” apparently means they don’t carry CDs and DVDs, but they did find room to stock the “George W. Bush Voodoo Kit” next to the register.

Not sure about the market for that one, as most moonbats seem to prefer the personal touch of hand-crafted effigies.

saint kansas on June 8, 2007 at 3:01 PM

“George W. Bush Voodoo Kit” next to the register.

I always find it amusing that liberals will beat their chests about how they’re non-religious and rational and scientific in their thinking…

But they’re the most superstitious people I’ve ever met.

Skywise on June 8, 2007 at 3:05 PM

That’s it?!!!”

Where is the funny part?

William

William2006 on June 8, 2007 at 3:08 PM

Like this is some big shocker…

This will never stop until conservatives create their own entertainment content and make it available in the marketplace.

Until then, it’s nothing but Li’l Bush, everyone’s fave The View, Colbert, Daily Show, and the 3,782 other lefty shows that are nigh-on unavoidable across hundreds of TV channels.

ScottMcC on June 8, 2007 at 3:09 PM

ScottMcC on June 8, 2007 at 3:09 PM

I agree, we really have to do better in this regard, though I’ve been saying it in regard to newsmedia mostly.

Bad Candy on June 8, 2007 at 3:12 PM

3,782…that is how many terrorist scum have killed in Iraq since January.

tomas on June 8, 2007 at 3:12 PM

Launching networks and channels isn’t easy or cheap either. It is doable though.

Bad Candy on June 8, 2007 at 3:14 PM

The television season after President Bush was elected Comedy Central starting running a sitcom titled “Bush”. They promo’ed it every ten minutes and it consisted of a Chevy Chase-ish comedian acting like George W. Bush, except I couldn’t tell who he was supposed to be. It was supported by weak characters that had nothing to do with the Bush family and was a sophmoric vehicle to present the President as a boob. The show was yanked off the air right after the attack on 9/11.

It would seem that the brain trust at Comedy Central feels that enough time has passed after being attacked and it’s time again for another weak program simply for the purpose of taking cheap, unfunny shots at the President and making big laughs at the expense of the Americans who fight to protect their lifestyle to create crap. Too bad there isn’t a channel with the globes to present “Lil Mohammad”. There could be cameos by Porky Pig, Al Gore and a whole cast of characters that would actually be funny for a change.

Hening on June 8, 2007 at 3:16 PM

Ooh, here’s an original idea!

Scooby Doo…classic cartoon fun. Scrappy Doo…never before in my life have I wanted to strangle a dog. Congrats, now you’ve gotta call the ASPCA.

Muppets…cute, funny. Babies…cute, funny. Muppet Babies…insipid tripe.

Loony Tunes…funny. Babies…wait, we’ve been here before.

Nobody cared about Young Indiana Jones or Young Sherlock Holmes…nobody would care about Young Hitler, Young Rasputin, or Young Mao, either. Young Frankenstein is the only exception, and that’s only because nearly everything Mel Brooks touches is gold.

But I’m sure that lil’ Bush will be a hit! I can feel it.

James on June 8, 2007 at 3:19 PM

Eh.

It’s no That’s My Bush.

frankj on June 8, 2007 at 3:19 PM

Hening, I heard that show was scheduled to be done no matter who won in 2000, and that it was more of a rehash of stereotypical old sitcom bits than going after Bush.

Bad Candy on June 8, 2007 at 3:25 PM

Entirely gratuitous, not at all fair or amusing, but sort of obligatory given whom the audience is likely to be, no?

Only if they want to COMPLETELY alienate half the population. I mean maybe Republicans wouldn’t watch this just based on it being an insult about Bush, but considering how we feel about him right now, maybe it would be cathartic.

Plus, even out of those who don’t support the war, surely not all of them think it’s funny to view our troops as civilian killers. I mean out of those who think of our troops that way, even they’d think it was a serious matter, right?

Esthier on June 8, 2007 at 3:41 PM

I love South Park, but I have committed to boycotting Comedy Central for being pansies, and giving in to appeasing sensitive Muslims at the cost of the 1st amendment.

Now I have another reason not to watch.

budorob on June 8, 2007 at 3:41 PM

I still laughed my ass off at parts. Not as much as with the old Flash-only episodes, which are pure gold, but still a bit. I want a Lil’Bush doll

Baphomet on June 8, 2007 at 4:05 PM

Even for a summer replacement show, that was truly awful.

I really don’t see this one getting picked up for additional episodes, given the target audience and extremely limited appeal.

Not to mention the hate mail.

The Ugly American on June 8, 2007 at 4:07 PM

Yawn. Not funny, they try too hard to squeeze in political humor, which is tough to make funny.

Dash on June 8, 2007 at 4:30 PM

There’s humor, and then there’s politically bias and damaging humor. This is the latter. Sure, as a Republican I am not happy about Bush and the Amnesty bill right now, but what does that have to do with me even wanting to listen to the same moronic baseless arguments about Bush in the form of humor? You’d think by now they would have come up with better arguments that could be proven, instead of re-using the same stupid stuff over and over again. Can anyone here say that they have heard the “war for oil” and the “Bush is an idiot” argument less than 100 times?

Here’s an even better question, if they are so “un-biased” as they believe, where’s the Lil’ Clinton series? Surely there are at least as many jokes about Clinton as Bush, and in Clintons case, at least they are based on truth, right?

j_ehman on June 8, 2007 at 4:30 PM

who does the voice… it sounds familiar?

Opinionnation on June 8, 2007 at 4:34 PM

How long was that? A minute? Minute and a half maybe? Whatever it was, that was time of my life I wish I had back. That was basically extreme Left Wing talking points set to animation.

amerpundit on June 8, 2007 at 4:50 PM

TV is TV. It’s created in Los Angeles and New York. Everybody involved in the industry is a moonbat. It’s just the way it is.

Farmer_Joe on June 8, 2007 at 5:35 PM

I think I’ll stick with GaoGaiGar, thankyouverymuch.

ZK on June 8, 2007 at 6:21 PM

Hening, I heard that show was scheduled to be done no matter who won in 2000, and that it was more of a rehash of stereotypical old sitcom bits than going after Bush.

I saw a bit of it while waiting for something else to come on. It was a bit like Benson mixed with some other boring old sitcoms. They promoted the person playing the President on other CC shows, but I didn’t see the similarities. It just seemed to be a show with a guy that was supposed to be George W. being a dolt and not associated with anything else. Kind of like Al Gore, but not as funny.

Geez, it was awful whatever it was supposed to be.

Hening on June 8, 2007 at 6:38 PM

“Lil’ Bush” shows U.S. troops firing on Iraqi civilians

Just more liberal “support” for the troops. Maybe next week’s episode will feature babykilling. But, you know, don’t question their patriotism.

hahahahah
BDS (not BES) creeping in!

Max Power on June 8, 2007 at 8:07 PM

It’s so obvious that this show is nowhere near funny. I’m surprised you–or anyone–paid any attention whatsoever to this crap.

I watch a lot of CC, but this is so blatantly unfunny–even without having seen any of it, aside from the promos.

urbancenturion on June 8, 2007 at 9:33 PM

That wasn’t funny at all. That’s the best they can do? It’s like the most overt jokes you can make about Bush and Iraq. They’re not even jokes though. This is pretty bad. Bring back the show Trey Parker and Matt Stone did about George Bush. That was funny.

Vincenzo on June 9, 2007 at 12:23 AM

Anyone remember “Carter Country” from the seventies? It was actually funny I think, heck I was only like 14 – 16 or something. Had nothing to do with the president bytheway.

Gwillie on June 9, 2007 at 1:22 AM

You mean this?

Heh, note the name of the town, how prophetic.

Carter Country

Exactly, this tongue tied boob has allowed the Left to dominate and drive the dialog his entire time in office. One would think he enjoys being a punching bag. Can’t wait to see the back of him.

cmdrsubfleet on June 9, 2007 at 2:20 PM

A current war as the topic of such crass and heartless humor? Horrible. From the death of Paul Wellstone, to 9/11, to Iraq, there is nothing the far left will not mock and denigrate. The only thing sacred to that group anymore is the half truth of global warming. Even the science they pretend to so revere is subject to their personal whims. For example, embryonic vs. adult stem cells, the continuing advancements in obstetrics that support the pro life view, the refusal to even engage in debate over irreducible complexity, inherent gender differences, and any other development that does not fit the self centered world view of the far left.

And what is that world view? Nothing matters but me and how I feel and what I want to do. And if that includes laughter at the war dead (American and Iraqi), well it must be right because it’s what I want, right now anyway.

“Lil Bush” isn’t funny, or clever, or cute, or original (it’s just animated Molly Ivins columns, may she rest peacefully ). No, “Lil Bush” is just sad.

hulbstar on June 9, 2007 at 5:35 PM

Lame as a taffy lariat in a cartoon sauna.

Is this 4 year old animation?

Or 4 year old minds?
