According to Shep Smith, she was dragged screaming from the courtroom. Schadenfreudemania!

Update: CNN’s viewers are unloading on them for the wall-to-wall coverage of this crap. The anchors sonorously agree, then go back to covering it.
Update: Hilarious. It’s cool to so much righteous indignation about all this, from the famous and non-famous alike.
Update: One mo’ time!
Update: Shep’s not real thrilled about having to cover it either.
Update: MSNBC is promising “special coverage” of Parismania tonight at 9. Will Joe “Real Journalist” Scarborough be anchoring? That’s his time slot.
Update: Shep melts down. “This is over the freaking top!”

Taken from the courtroom screaming……
Over what? She’s probably in solitary. 3 weeks of reading, sleeping in, and bad food. Wow, what an emotional weakling.
HerrMorgenholz on June 8, 2007 at 3:18 PM
As much as I would love to go off on a hysterically maniacal fit of delicious laughter, I wont. I hope that Paris gets a wake up call from this and becomes a better person for it. Maybe she can use this to reach young ladies in the future?

I feel sorry for her. Getting out and then going back in is a mind melt. Hopefully she’ll come out of this with some sort of perspective to turn her life around. This kid is a mess.
Martha went in, did her time and took it well.

The warden threw a party in the county jail.
The prison band was there and they began to wail.
The band was jumpin and the joint began to swing.
You shouldve heard those knocked out jailbirds sing.
Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.
Spider murphy played the tenor saxophone,
Little joe was blowin on the slide trombone.
The drummer boy from illinois went crash, boom, bang,
The whole rhythm section was the purple gang.
Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.
Number forty-seven said to number three:
Youre the cutest jailbird I ever did see.
I sure would be delighted with your company,
Come on and do the jailhouse rock with me.
Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.
The sad sack was a sittin on a block of stone
Way over in the corner weepin all alone.
The warden said, hey, buddy, dont you be no square.
If you cant find a partner use a wooden chair.
Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.
Shifty henry said to bugs, for heavens sake,
No ones lookin, nows our chance to make a break.
Bugsy turned to shifty and he said, nix nix,
I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks.
Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.

At least in jail she might learn a trade and do something besides look purty and going to parties for a living.
LakeRuins on June 8, 2007 at 3:28 PM
Handled poorly by LA Sheriff and the Jail. It is wrong to have let her out, it is also wrong to have put her back in like this. She’s a rich Biatch, not a hardened criminal. Tell the Reverend Al that this is reverse discrimination because she is a celebrity.
She was driving a car when she should not have been driving. Big Crime? She gets far more Jail Time than the illegal aliens marching in the rallies!

Paris, do you know who Leona Helmsley is? She thumbed her nose at the judge also. What Leona did is much worse, but her biggest mistake was ignoring the judge.

If she was an illegal alien she wouldn’t have had to go to court in the first place. They would have towed the car and issued her a fine for driving w/o a license. She wouldn’t have served a day.

Shep Smith: “Too bad we can’t get cameras like that on people running this war.”
Yeah, he’s a right wing shill on Faux News all right. You betcha.
Laura on June 8, 2007 at 3:41 PM
Because Jefferson is a Democrat, he will likely serve no time, the media will make Republicans-Conservatives out to be on a witch hunt, and claim racism, bigotry, and so forth, thus turning it around from Jefferson being a criminal to Republicans-Conservatives being mean, racist, bigoted white men out to get the black guy.
The media will carry the torch for Jefferson as well.
My prediction, no time served, and no admission of guilt, and no finding of guilt for Jefferson.
Regarding Hilton,
She is in the news waaaaayyyyyy too much!
It would be nice is there were something more interesting in the news and she was not even a footnote any longer.
Okay, so Hilton is a spoiled, self centered little rich girl!
We get it already!
I am glad I don’t know her and that I am not married to her!

First of all, that broad in the spoof video is HOT! Wow.
Anyway:
Big deal, according to everyone else, Shep Smith is regularly dragged screaming from some place called Ramrod.
Seriously though, this whole in an out isn’t Paris’s fault, and I almost feel bad for her that they’ve toyed with her a bit here… what I don’t feel bad about is the fact that she was having a meltdown and that allowed her to get out of jail in the first place. Sweetheart, talk to anyone who’s been in anything other than a holding cell for more than an hour – IT SUCKS, IT’S NOT JUST YOU! And by the way, many states don’t only sentence you after you’ve violated probation by driving on a suspended license TWICE, after a DUI… Many now have mandatory sentences, JUST FOR THE DUI. Beyond that, most states don’t give you only a 90 days suspension, it’s a year in some (for first offense), and if you drive during that time you’ll do more time than the few mandatory days. This idiot makes me mad when I think about the fact that she had only 3 months to wait to drive and she has all the money in the world to get her around during that time, but chose to do what she did. She deserves these few weeks in jail. I don’t think she’ll ever adjust, she’ll probably have continual panic attacks, hardly eat, barely sleep, and likely come out and OD on drugs… and that will be sad, and a result of her upbringing… but it’s my prediction anyway.
RightWinged on June 8, 2007 at 3:41 PM
I’m not trying to beat you over the head,…but her suspended license was the result of a DUI. My brother almost died as a result of an intoxicated driver (left of center, crushed face and shattered leg). The culprit was driving on a suspended license after 2 previous DUIs.
Again, that story is meant to inform, not to brow-beat. Most of our laws are too lax on DUI and suspended license offenses.
Penalties are typically given in a range. Society would do well if we gave the maximum regarding DUI. The judge gave her the maximum. That’s a good thing.
natesnake on June 8, 2007 at 3:43 PM
This story is out of control. That does not reflect well on us as a people. Why do I care if some girl I don’t know and don’t care about is going to jail for committing a crime? Everybody has got to take a deep breath here and think clearly. She is not a victim. She is getting preferencial treatment not for being white but for being a media created celebrity. She should not get preferencial treatment and nobody should. She’s a spoiled brat who has been given whatever she wants her entire life and she more then anybody needs a dose of reality here. Not treating her like any other person who committed a crime will be the worst thing that could possibly happen to her and will be highly offensive to anybody else who has a family member behind bars right now for having committed the same crime Paris committed. It is the equivalent of rewarding illegal aliens and punishing those who attempt to do it properly. Its just not right and our judicial system is on life support.

People with 1 DUI and caught driving on a suspended license don’t do time unless maybe there’s a major injury or fatality. This woman, whom I loathe, is being treated worse than an illegal aliens are treated. It’s a disgrace. And, to reiterate, I absolutely loathe this woman.
TheBigOldDog on June 8, 2007 at 3:49 PM
If that’s true, I think the sheriff should serve the extra days himself. I can’t fault Paris too much for trying to get out, I can fault the sheriff for letting her out.

We don’t know what the judges original intent was. He might have been going to release her after a week or so, but the Sheriff kibitzed the deal. The message to Paris is more important than the amount of time. Judging by the emotional train wreck she is, maybe she’s got the hint.
Listening to Geraldo prattle on about how badly Patis is being treated, makes we want to upchuck my lunch.

It may make you puke, but he’s absolutely right. You should upchuck over injustice no matter how much you loathe the person being treated unfairly.
As, Judge Nap just said, they can’t find a single case where somebody went to jail for her offenses. That’s injustice and injustice makes me sick.

Limerick on June 8, 2007 at 4:01 PM
You know what TheBigOldDog. As usual you are right. I don’t think this has been mentioned enough. It is important. We are not looking for special treatment for individuals nor are we looking to get especailly harsh treatment for individuals. We just want the laws to apply evenly for all. Either way the pendulum swings away from justice is wrong. Great point.

I agree. She is a blight on society. She is being treated differently than everyone else. Currently, she is the exception, not the rule.
My point is, she should be the rule, and not the exception. Judges should more than often excise the maximum and not the minimum penalties for DUI offenses.

The daytime stories at FOX News looks more like a National Enquirer or one of those other Tabloid RAGS. Is FOX News going to start doing stories on two headed people who came from a different planet by way of UFO next. Please take a look at the silliness FOX is airing lately.
The downhill spiral started around the time Juliet was taking off the noon talk show. IMHO
abinitioadinfinitum on June 8, 2007 at 4:07 PM
No, Geraldo is acting like he’s in the judges mind and has all the facts. When judges sentence people they have their entire record in front of them. Do we know if Paris wasn’t drunk while driving at night, 70 mph with the lights off? We don’t but the judge might. Is Paris a spoiled brat? Yes. Is her continued scoffing at the law a sign that she was headed for bigger problems? It may be the judges fear that she would kill someone. Then, Geraldo would be complaining that she should have not been allowed to get off so easy before.
Besides she’s a brat that is used to getting her way and avoiding the law.

Amen. And, for last time, I loathe this woman but I believe in equal justice for all.
Perhaps, but she is being treated differently simply because of who she is.
Ann Coulter agrees…
TheBigOldDog on June 8, 2007 at 4:08 PM
It is my understanding that in addition to having her license suspended, Ms. Hilton was to take some sort of alcohol awareness class, and community service which she blew off. Then she breezes in to court 10 minutes late. Not to bright.
I’m with cs, I’d like to gloat, but I won’t.
KelliD on June 8, 2007 at 4:08 PM

Misfortune is when you trip on the sidewalk and break an ankle. Going to jail for multiple violations and ignoring court orders is justice.
I am gonna laugh my butt off at someone who has basically made a career out of telling us how superior to all us little people she is now that she has to deal with reality. I hope she gets a prison tattoo.
JackStraw on June 8, 2007 at 4:11 PM
It’s outrageous. I hope her parents sue the judge-cruel and unusual punishment. How’s this different from a mullah sentencing a girl to stoning and all the crowd cheering it on. It’s so shameful for America. This is not justice-it’s bullying.

I went to a party at the local county jail
All the cons were dancing and the band began to wail
But the guys were indiscreet
They were brawling in the street
At the local dance at the local county jail
Well the band were playing
And the booze began to flow
But the sound came over on the police car radio
Down at Precinct 49
Having a tear-gas of a time
Sergeant Baker got a call from the governor of the county jail
Load up, load up, load up with rubber bullets
Load up, load up, load up with rubber bullets
I love to hear those convicts squeal
It’s a shame these slugs ain’t real
But we can’t have dancin’ at the local county jail
Sergeant Baker and his men made a bee-line for the jail
And for miles around
You could hear the sirens wail
There’s a rumor goin’ round death row
That a fuse is gonna blow
At the local hop at the local county jail
Whatcha gonna do about it, whatcha gonna do
Whatcha gonna do about it, whatcha gonna do
Sergeant Baker started talkin’
With a bullhorn in his hand
He was cool, he was clear
He was always in command
He said “Blood will flow;
Here Padre
Padre you talk to your boys…”
“Trust in me -
God will come to set you free”
Well we don’t understand
Why you called in the National Guard
When Uncle Sam is the one
Who belongs in the exercise yard
We all got balls and brains
But some’s got balls and chains
At the local dance at the local county jail
Load up, load up, load up with rubber bullets
Load up, load up, load up with rubber bullets
Is it really such a crime
For a guy to spend his time
At the local dance at the local county jail
At the local dance at the local county jail
Whatcha gonna do about it, whatcha gonna do
Whatcha gonna do about it, whatcha gonna do
Kensington on June 8, 2007 at 4:11 PM
as I posted on the last Paris post
I’m no Paris fan at all, but to put this girl through all this public circus, while we have illegal immigrants being let go scott free for much worse crimes over and over just shows how completely unjust our justice system is. The sheriff who let her out should be held accountable. The Media is resposible for making News out of FOOLS. Fools include all Hollywood people and culture and the people who watch and worship them like Kings and Queens and even gods. IMHO
abinitioadinfinitum on June 8, 2007 at 4:11 PM
Not exactly a ringing endorsement. The idea that the rich can basically buy their way out of jail, as Coulter just suggested she have the opportunity to do for a lousy $100k – chump change, in context – is so offensive I don’t even know where to start.

She isn’t being treated differently. Were you complaining when she was sent to spend 40 days in a multi-million dollar mansion where she can party down?
csdeven on June 8, 2007 at 4:15 PM
This has turned into a real slug fest….amazing, but interesting. I don’t know why the judge broke it off on her but he did and I am more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this then her. Let’s look at the reality here folks…..23 days sitting in a room. That is it. She wasn’t asked to pick up soap in the community shower. She wasn’t being handed a pneumatic hammer and told to dig up a highway. She wasn’t put in a stock in the middle of MacArthur park. 23 days sitting in a room. Injustice?
Limerick on June 8, 2007 at 4:18 PM
You’re missing the point. The point is, if she were an illegal alien she wouldn’t even be in this situation. If she was an ordinary citizen she likewise, would not have been sentenced to jail time.
Look, it’s really simple. You are either for equal justice for all or you’re just for justice for people you like.

CrazyFool on June 8, 2007 at 4:20 PM
She shouldn’t have been sentenced to home confinement at all based on the standards in the community in which she was adjudicated. That’s the point. Justice denied for one is justice denied for all.
How would you like to go in front of a liberal judge who happens to know your politics and decides to treat you differently from a liberal charged with the same offenses. That’s different right? How? Tell me. I’d love to hear it.
TheBigOldDog on June 8, 2007 at 4:21 PM
Coulter’s just dropped the bid down to a mere $50k. Not that we want a judicial caste system or anything…
TheBigOldDog on June 8, 2007 at 4:18 PM
I think you’re being naive. If your definition of “equal justice” is identical sentencing, regardless of other factors that the judge (rightly or wrongly in your opinion) chooses to consider, well, not only is that never going to happen, it doesn’t even make sense.
If the judge’s sentence is within the boundaries of the law, than that is justice, regardless of what happens to other people.
Laura on June 8, 2007 at 4:22 PM
Actually, I think you are missing the point. I support deporting illegal immigrants and I support Paris Hilton facing the same justice that you or I would. Just because our legal solons have let us down on the illegals doesn’t mean Hilton gets a pass from me.
Your arguement that illegal immigrants are going unpunished so Paris should too, it no makey sensey.

lorien1973 on June 8, 2007 at 4:23 PM
I hate to speak for Laura, but I believe we both completely understand your point. She is 100% being treated differently and therefore is an injustice of the status quo.
Our point is that this should be the turning point where everyone with the same offense should be treated they way she is: jail time.
I refuse to feel sorry for someone who broke the law and now is paying the maximum penalty.
