no. it’s lost. i used to have an idea of conservatives and the conservative movement which was perhaps too rosey. now i think i know better. now i know that if i’m brown-skinned and speak spanish, i can’t be a conservative. i had guessed this from the vague distrust and dislike of mel martinez and alberto gonzales, and it’s clear from the suggestive tone of your post (i’ll let you guess whether i’m a “beaner” or not).conservativism, at least as far as the people who make up it’s base and voting block, is for racists. it doesn’t have to be, that’s just the way the demographics fan out.

oddly, i’ve wondered why the border enforcement demagogues argue like they have something to lose. how many conservatives are there in socal?

Two examples is what you call your anectodal evidence, Jummy. I just don’t see the logical connection between being in favor of supporting the law of the land on immigration and being a racist [as per TruthSeeker]. Do you support the comprehensive immigration reform bill crafted by Kennedy et. al? If you know what it even contains, you’re way ahead almost everyone else, except for the people that actually wrote it. Plenty of legal immigrants, people of color, those who have been in line waiting for processing for years would obviously take exception to lawbreakers being bumped into line ahead of them by the Z-visa 24 hour waiting period. Are they therefore “idiot nsm white power north american union crap?”

I am growing a bit tired of ideologues making the tangential leap from wanting our borders controlled to racism. That is as intellectually bereft as it is fallacious.

I happen to be both for increased legal immigration, and (perhaps more importantly) expediting of the bureaucratic maze.

Personally, whether it is 12-20 million Mexicans, Ukrainians, Estonians (if there were so many) – that is too many, and they need to come here in a legal and controlled fashion.

My daughter-in-law just became a citizen before being married. Brazil. Her wonderful family spent years jumping through hoops to receive permission to be here. They did it lawfully.

Let’s make it simple for those that know only the leftist mantra: Me like immigration. Good! Me not like limitless illegal immigration. Bad!

All these people are spewing BS as fast as it can pass their lips. I am sick and tired of them couching these arguments on some sort of racial bias. I grew up in Texas, love the Mexican culture and know them to be great family people and hard workers. But the costs of allowing 12 million plus into our country is simply too high a price to pay. We must stop illegal entry before we begin a massive naturalization process for any of it to make sense. I think it is time for a third party in this country. If for no other reason but to upset the voting blocks that now exist.
