RAF goes PC
posted at 12:29 pm on June 6, 2007 by Bryan
The West seems to be trying to kill off its warrior culture, one stupid bureaucratic decision at a time.
In killer heels and little else, they have a definite deadly charm.
But the risque images of women that have decorated warplanes since the First World War have been scrubbed out.
The Ministry of Defence has decreed they could offend the RAF’s female personnel.
Officials admitted they had no record of any complaints from the 5,400 women in the RAF…
Commanders decided the images were sexist and insisted there was no place for them in the modern armed forces.
There was also concern that they could cause offence in a muslim country where until 2001 all women were forced to wear the head-to-toe burkha in public.
Well, there’s your solution, mates: Put the nose-art ladies in burkhas. Of course ou’ll have to put your female military personnel in burkas too eventually…and your fashion models…and your wives and daughters…

Civilizations die by suicide.

It is PC BS….but……..it is not the first time this has happened…..
WW II U.S. Pacific fleet subs had to paint out all their ‘logos’. After WWII no ‘nose art’ was allowed on aircraft until Korea. When my son’s unit returns from the desert his turret-tattoo (Cav hat with skull & crossed sabres) is painted over. This isn’t society breaking down this is the paper-machine flexing it’s muscles. Road numbers, tail numbers, hull numbers. That’s the rules according to all the CBRs and REMFs everywhere.

And its predicted that the name Muhammed will be the most popular British baby name by years end. Nothing to see hear. Now shove your heads right back into the sandy British shores.
On a related note, I read Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s book Infidel last night. Amazing book. Everyone should read it. I would highly recommend it to these British Bureaucrats too.

When an officer in the RAF sees something and deems it offensive it’s Political Correctness, when a mother in Kansas sees something she deems offensive it’s secular liberalism invading our lives.

I think that joke was too good, even for me.
Nonfactor on June 6, 2007 at 1:51 PM
Nonfactor, true to a degree, but please try to keep in mind who our enemies are. Its far more dangerous for us to be caving into Islam then it is for us to cave into a mother in Kansas worried about secular liberalism. Why we would even be comparing the two is in some ways suicidal and intellectually dishonest.

We REMFs don’t care what you put on your expensive toys…it’s your ‘warrior leaders’ who are making this call.

Are they allowed to put the picture of a captive with panties on their head or only the Ministry of Defense with panties in a knot?
Wade on June 6, 2007 at 2:15 PM
I’ll take it!
But seriously, if someone put up a nude picture in a Muslim neighborhood in the United States and the picture was asked to be removed because it was “offensive” to their religion is that any worse than the picture being put up in a Muslim neighborhood and it being asked to be removed because it was “offensive” to their children? I personally don’t see the difference, but I also think obscenity laws are BS.
So the pilots are secular liberals attempting to corrupt the minds of the women they fly with and the mother in Kansas is a political correctness nazi.
And just as an aside–as I wrote that last paragraph I realized something. If “offensive” pictures are put up somewhere it’s the secular liberals fault, if those pictures are complained about (usually) it’s because liberals are obsessed with political correctness (exception made when those complaining are cute little mothers from Kansas).

They should abide by the ruling.
…and replace the images of women with Miss Piggy.
In a thong.
fusionaddict on June 6, 2007 at 2:30 PM
That’s not a bad idea, replace the images of girlie cheesecake and replace with pork products.
I would go for a nice SPAM image.

Why don’t the Brits just hand the whole country over to the Islamics now? Why Wait?
Maxx on June 6, 2007 at 3:30 PM
That looks like Bowie’s original drummer. It’s a man, baby,
I would name my jet “Makin’ Bacon” and have two pigs doin’ it like Mohammad on an eight year old.

If we would paint a picture of Rosie on the nose of all our planes it would scare the enemy away
Sven on June 6, 2007 at 4:45 PM
I just thought about that…
Why dumb-down the planes to just riding the bus?
Kini on June 6, 2007 at 5:24 PM
Apologies to you James…….trying to extract my foot from mouth now. Potato peeler or F-22 they all serve and one can’t do without the other.
Limerick on June 6, 2007 at 5:35 PM
I’m offended everytime I see a burkha-nized woman walking 5 steps behind her so-called man on American streets. I’ll remove the naked woman picture in a Muslim neighborhood when they quit treating their women like cattle! And I think you are getting it wrong about the “cute little mothers from Kansas”, as I see it, it’s the freaky-deaky left that brought the whole “offensive” argument to the forefront. I mean, who brought us diversity training and the insane concept of political correctness in the first place. Now you all are just reaping what you sowed.
silenced majority on June 6, 2007 at 6:28 PM
Actually, you can keep the images on the nose of the planes….you just have to fly around with a sheet over the plane’s nose…..
