Video: Kathy Griffin calls Condi a tool of the white man on “The View”

posted at 12:44 pm on June 5, 2007 by Allahpundit

It’s just not the same. It’s like when Laura Schwartz or Crazy Jane Fleming fills in for KP opposite the boss on the Factor. Same basic points, but … it’s just not the same.

Obviously,at this point , it is clear to me that Barb encourages this kind of nonsense.

Why oh why oh why are we continuing to be subjected to clips of this program, Allah? ;)

I can’t believe that I just heard Babawawa call a liberal woman, bigoted.

tickleddragon on June 5, 2007 at 12:50 PM

I’m curious: What are the sites stats on all of HotAir.com’s posts related to The View?

If the hits on all those posts are astronomically high, I’d know not to criticize and that I’m in the small minority of those completely burned out on the daily coverage of this dinosaur soap opera.

I don’t know what the stats are. It’s just fun, easy content.

“I love you a lot, but what you just said is so bigoted.”

Why didn’t she ever say that to Rosie?

Since when do we give any credence to the ramblings of a joker . . . particularly when she is talking to the likes of Baba Wawa.

I hate to point out the obvious, but Condi is supposed to carry out the administration’s foreign policy. That’s her job. So when Kathy Griffin says, “She’s in the President’s pocket!” I say, “DUH. She’s supposed to be. It’s in her job description.”

Did you happen to catch Joy shushing Elizabeth everytime she tried to say something?

“Shh…let ‘em talk.”
“Shh..one at a time Elizabeth. We can’t hear them.”

amerpundit on June 5, 2007 at 1:20 PM

Sounds like she’s auditioning for Rosie’s spot.

JustTruth101 on June 5, 2007 at 1:24 PM

Did anyone else catch the little side argument between Joy and Elisabeth?

Every time Elisabeth tried to say something, Joy would shush her and put her hand up in front of Elisabeth. Elisabeth must have said something to her (it wasn’t caught by the mic) because Joy said “One at a time. I can’t hear her.”

I do not know how Elisabeth puts up with the crap she keeps getting from Joy on this show. It was making me want to be physically violent, and it wasn’t happening to me.

Also, is it just a coincidence that Elisabeth is always seated on the far right with Joy right next to her? Does the show have assigned seats for the women? Or does it just happen to be that way in the clips Allah pulls? If they get to pick their seats, I’d start picking a seat that wasn’t next to Joy if I were Elisabeth.

Mallard T. Drake on June 5, 2007 at 2:06 PM

Is every female comedienne a blithering lefty? Maybe. To become a successful comedian or comedienne you must make your bones in the big city comedy clubs. Big city audiences are predominantly liberal, so you better feed them lefty laugh lines if you want to get ahead. You won’t make it telling Clinton jokes or ridiculing lefty sacred cows. The process for becoming a successful comedian culls out conservatives. That’s why you see so many witless lefty buffoons like Kathy Griffin, Rosie O’Donnell, Bill Maher, etc as comedy headliners.

Tantor on June 5, 2007 at 2:09 PM

Kathy a racist, and a tool. The real legacy of the Bush years won’t be that more minorities and women are in high places in this administration than ever before, just that Condi a tool of the Cheney white man.

But all this from a comic, that’s not funny. White Guilt

Kini on June 5, 2007 at 2:12 PM

I still notice the thunderous applause for every left wing, moonbat, tin foil hat wearing comment, but little to no applause for any conservative comment, especially those made by Hasselebeck, whose conservative leaning comments are ignored.

Go figure!

The problem is, they are not funny to begin with, they are merly foolishg, arrogant, condescending, and vindictive.

William2006 on June 5, 2007 at 2:23 PM

tickleddragon: “Why oh why oh why are we continuing to be subjected to clips of this program, Allah?”

Do you hear the audience response when Rosie or Joy or now Kathy makes some crackpot assertion? They applaud, they laugh, they cheer. The paste-for-brains women in The View audience are EATING THIS UP! They represent the Great Paste-For-Brains America that thinks fire can’t melt steel, Sasquatch lives among us, and UFOS are real. As Lenin said, and I’m sure Rosie could confirm, a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth.

Now part of the reason that dopey women are eating this up are that they get jazzed whenever any woman asserts herself forcefully. They don’t really care about the substance of the argument. They don’t care whether fire can melt steel or not. What they do care about is that A Strong Powerful Woman Is Standing Up And Shouting What She Thinks! They feel compelled to support that, no matter how stupid her cause. They need to pick their heroines more carefully.

It’s important to take the cluebat to Rosie et al because if she is not challenged you’ll get a legion of dopey women teaching their dopey children that Bushitler set off the demolition charges for the World Trade Center to cover up for Enron and Halliburton because everyone knows fire can’t melt steel. We may not be able to extirpate Paste-For-Brains America, but we can trim it back considerably with relentless fact checking and ridicule.

It is work that must be done.

Tantor on June 5, 2007 at 2:32 PM

I don’t know, Elizabeth’s “just because you don’t support Hillary doesn’t mean you don’t support women” statement got some really good applause.

But sadly, the “and then Gore will be president” remark got thunderous applause…

Why don’t you record the show anymore, Allah?

Esthier on June 5, 2007 at 2:38 PM

Say what you will about “Paste-For-Brains” women. Many of them are the way they are because the men in their life have failed them in some way.

I’m as right-winged conservative as the next guy, and part of that means that I believe men must lead. The question is, do we lead our women and children with force or with patience? Do we put our wives before ourselves? How about our mothers?

Until American men understand that it is their duty to lead through service to those we love, ‘The View’ and all it represents will continue.

unamused on June 5, 2007 at 2:42 PM

Oh, and I view our troops and their service as the ultimate example of leadership. Their spirit is what all men in this country need.

Either we will stand for something or we will fall for anything.

unamused on June 5, 2007 at 2:44 PM

What burns me up here is that Kathy went to Iraq and Afghanistan to entertain the Troops and I loved her for that, but now this attack on Condi! I think it’s her way of trying to make up for the sin of going to visit our Soldiers AND to get on the A List.

“Strong, powerful woman”? Name a woman stronger and more powerful than Condi! Sure, Pelosi is now a step closer to the Presidency, but she ain’t stronger. Physically, mentally, spiritually or otherwise.

Rice was eight when her schoolmate Denise McNair, aged 11, was killed in the bombing of the primarily African American Sixteenth Street Baptist Church by white supremacists on September 15, 1963.

Segregation also hardened her stance on the right to bear arms; Rice has said in interviews that if gun registration had been mandatory, her father’s weapons would have been confiscated, leaving them defenseless against Ku Klux Klan nightriders.

Rice was a Democrat until 1982 when she changed her political affiliation to Republican after growing averse to former President Carter’s foreign policy. She also cited influence from her father, John Wesley, in this decision, who himself switched from Democrat to Republican after being denied voting registration by the Democratic registrar. In her words to the 2000 Republican National Convention, “My father joined our party because the Democrats in Jim Crow Alabama of 1952 would not register him to vote. The Republicans did.”

How dare those white Republikkkans register blacks to vote!

Harumph! Harumph!

4shoes on June 5, 2007 at 3:02 PM

As for Condi yes, white republican men love her. And so do black republican women. And Asians, and you name it. Kathy Griffin’s comments about her were very predictable and very telling. She represents the greatest fear of all for the left. Being a black woman with superior credentials, she, in herself represents the death of the left in this country where now more then 50% of the black population lives at or above the middle class level. The left is rapidly losing their victim group. What would the democrats do without the black vote to pander to and use in order to buy votes? What would they do if they could not send Jesse Jackson to the microphone to point at the republican nominee and say, “see, another white male. those racist, sexist bigots!.” All the while the Dem nominee is a, well, a white male. So what does the left say about Condi? They say she is a lapdog for the white male republicans who control what she does. She is Dick Cheney’s and Karl Rove’s puppet on the strings. They are molding her and telling her how to be and what to say. They are keeping her in line, romoving her muzzle only when she is saying something they agree with. She is their slave. How much lower can the left go? This is a brilliant woman with her own brain and her own beliefs. But the left arrogantly and attrociously paints her as having conformed to what EVIL WHITE BIGOT SEXIST RACIST MEN want her to be. She couldn’t possibly believe in what she is saying and doing and standing up for. Naaaahhh. How could a black woman from Alabama sincerely align herself with a bunch of sexist, racist bigots anyhow? The left wingers who claim such things are either so lost in their own little “progressive” bubbles that they are completey blind to this hypocrosy or they are motivated to say such things because of the fear of what it is that she represents. The only non-insulting conclusion you can come to is that she is aligned with the right because she believes in what they believe. She is able to recognize that we are not all white male racists and does not believe in the left’s assertion that that is who we are. Now ask yourself this. What actual evidence is there to show that she is the slave of the white males really pulling the strings? What evidence is that statement based on? Is it possible that the left assumes this simply because she is a black woman? Would they say the same if she were a white male? Is it possible that to do so is not keeping her actual accomplishments in mind? Is it possbible that they are ignoring the true content of her character by jumping to this conclusion? Is it possible that she is actually the most qualified person in the world for that position? Is it possible that the men and women around her really do turn to her for imput? Is it possible that they admire the way she thinks and want to hear what she thinks? Is it possible that the left are truly the racists for turning her into a slave? I don’t know but based on her merits I sure as heck would want to know what she thinks if I were the president.

Zetterson on June 5, 2007 at 3:03 PM

I used to like kathy, till she started talking politics, and I saw her reality show. She treats her husband like a lap dog. Just one more comedian, musician, actor, that is ruined for me.

From the Oprah:

Life in show business hasn’t always been a barrel of laughs for comedienne Kathy Griffin. Feeling pressure to be thin in Hollywood, Kathy—already a slim size 4—opted for liposuction. In 1999, she had fat removed from her inner and outer thighs and above her knees. “I thought if I had some lipo,” jokes Kathy, “I’d turn into one of the Friends.”

The supposedly simple surgery had severe near-fatal complications. Six months later, Kathy went public saying the liposuction didn’t work and that she was swearing off plastic surgery.

Four years later, Kathy Griffin changed her mind about plastic surgery. This time around, she’s had 10 different procedures: nose job, brow lift, Botox, LASIK eye surgery, veneers, chemical hair straightening, micro dermabrasion, chemical skin peel, facial resurfacing and liposuction again!

“At first they wanted to give me the J-Lo butt bags. You can get your butt now to look like Jennifer Lopez’s. Yes, Oprah, yes! They’re very hot in Beverly Hills.”

Although she doesn’t “mind a little Botox now and then,” Kathy says she’s staying away from liposuction. “I have new eyebrows, new eyes, new skin, new teeth… I’m working on the new personality.”

I wish she would hurry up and buy that new personality.

Did she actually say Condoleeze Rice was more polarizing than Hillary Clinton in there? Amazing.

I suppose, though, I’m just mired down in traditional semantics. Griffin’s claim does seem to make proper use of Newspeak: If liberals support it, it’s “bipartisan,” if liberals oppose it, it’s “polarizing.”

What actual evidence is there to show that she is the slave of the white males really pulling the strings? What evidence is that statement based on? Is it possible that the left assumes this simply because she is a black woman?

Yes, it’s more than possible; it’s the truth.

It’s been obvious for a long time that the Left views all “victim” groups as inferior to the white man. Dr. Rice could not possibly make her own observations, form her own premises and come to her own reasoned conclusions; she cannot possibly be smart enough to do that because she’s black and a woman and, therefore, inferior–or so imply all too many Leftists. Such inferior beings cannot really think, but can only be exploited by their superiors.

Kathy Griffin doesn’t even realize–because she isn’t smart enough in reality–that this is what her words indicate and that is what is so infuriating.

abinitioadinfinitum on June 5, 2007 at 5:32 PM

She obviously has ridiculous views about politics and is a bigot… that said, I still think she should get the job, because I love all the hilarious things she says about celebrities and how she shoots Barbara’s wheels off. And The other choice is what, Whoopie? Last week when she was on, she sat there scowling and trying to look intellectual and hardly spoke; she was an absolute bore. Give me Kathy over her. Kathy’d be so much better than Rosie, too. Maybe not for the meltdown factor, but for entertainment purposes. Rosie did nothing but rant against the war and show people how to do ModPodge or whatever that pasty picture crap is.

And it looks like Sherri Shephard is maybe in the running, and I think she’s decently funny, but I still like Kathy the best. At least she’ll say all that stuff we’re all thinking about celebrities. And she’s not a fan of Islam’s treatment of women, at least as of last season on the D-list, so I’d love to see her in those discussions with the panel.

That said, I wish they’d get her on the panel and then have an actual conservative guest like Michelle or Mary Katharine on occasionally on a day when they’re going to discuss politics instead of do crafts or Fashion for under $100. Better yet, add Kathy, and have an actual conservative replace Behar. She was such a jerk to Elisabeth today (surprise); Elisabeth has apparently decided that she’s going to just push those boobies forward and talk whenever she pleases instead of being shushed like usual, and that is eating Joy up.

Oh, and I heart Treacher. No duh, get a mouse.

Why do I watch these clips? At least Barbara called her out on that a little, but they should have nailed that idiot to the floor. So let me understand this Kathy, you think Condi is smart, but at the same time she’s really dumb, can’t think for herself, and is just doing what white men tell her to? I’m not even going to list Condi’s resume, and point out how stupid it is to say that Condi couldn’t possibly agree on her own… Kathy Griffin has just revealed herself to be a humongous POS…. perhaps more than we know…. KG probably won’t take Rosie’s place. To summarize, on a View appearance a few years ago, KG said she was having people write checks to some charity as gifts for her wedding with her now-divorced husband. BW said that’s the same as Michael Douglas and CZJ (who was pregnant at the time). KG retorted, “Well, at least our marriage isn’t shotgun.” BW became very indignant.

JimC on June 5, 2007 at 10:50 PM

Clearly Kathy is an idiot and the botox has affected her brain. “White Man” sounds like she’s an Indian. However…….

Condi is a follower, enabler and co-dependant lackey that lies or lied for Bush. They trot her out like a prized pony to make some fake overtures to the international community, and she fails miserably. They know. It has nothing to do with race or sex, she is just incompetent or uninspired at best.

Condi was not hired on ability, it was an affirmative action hire. Yes I said it. Condi has no real love or desire for her job. She is counting the days to get back into the comfort of a U Prof position wrapped in the warmth of academia. Like Harriet Miers was qualified to be supreme court judge of the USA….ha ha ha ha.

Republicans are not pro minorities or blacks. Come on Rush Limbaugh says Obama is “Half-rican-American” or plays a radio bit of “Barrack The Magic Negro” sung by a Sharpton impersonator “African-American tribe” worst swimmers, Hispanics “will do things other people won’t do”. George Allen “Macaca” remark. Typical conservatives speaking to their conservative base, kind-a, sort-a you know racist sexist A-holes. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Takes all kinds I guess. Clearly only racist sexist A-holes can protect us from the terrorist.

Than the HATE for Hillary and Pelosi, double negative, Democrat’s and Women. The Republicans HATE that. Look at the 2008 GOP jackals of want-a-be presidential candidates, very white men. Democrats have a woman, black, Hispanic…..

Look I’m college educated white male with a masters. I want it my way, but the country is changing and so is the world. However I want competent people regardless of sex, race or party. Novel idea I know. However as long as the GOP Neo-Cons stay with the slash & burn partisan politics of fear mongering and US against THEM (liberals) BS, we’re going down a road that is NOT, “One Nation under God”, “United we stand divide we fall” and “A house divided can not stand”.

The white house has been so hostile and played such hard ball politics domestically and internationally they are stirring such resentment they create havoc and turmoil. No one trust Bush and its bad for us. The GOP better start steering a little towards the center and stop the macho posturing, but all they offer is flip flopping varmint hunting Mormon that says he’ll double Guantanamo, Rudy who’s a total fraud, with a net worth of $7,000 according to divorce papers in 2001, now worth $30,000,000, all thanks to 9/11. McCain? Too in bed with Bush. Admire him but he is screwed. Now we have Fred? ha ha ha ha. It does not matter say hello to Clinton #44, Lady President.
