George Lucas is involved. Despite that fact, it might be entertaining.

From Geeks of Doom:

Adult Swim will air Robot Chicken: Star Wars, a 30-minute special that spoofs the characters and scenes from the Star Wars saga, on June 17.

The comedy special, an extention of the stop-motion animated series by creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, was done in collaboration with Lucasfilm. SW mastermind George Lucas will voice his animated version, while Mark Hamill will lend his voice to Luke Skywalker, the hero he popularized in the original SW trilogy.

Here’s the theatrical trailer that’s playing in front of films like Pirates 3 now:

Abe Lincoln in a light sabre duel? Ben Kenobi sucker-punching Luke? I’m so there.

Bryan, you’re frontpage pic is way out of margin, maybe you’ll have fixed it by the time I post.

Anyway, this looks like it could be good, if Lucas keeps his incompetent paws off.

Your frontpage pic, and I’m just trying to help…for some reason.

Dammit. There go my Sunday evening plans.

Robot Chicken is one of the best shows on Adult Swim. Their Star Wars skits are probably their best work.

“Vader! Hows my favorie Sith?”
“What do you mean they blew up the DeathStar? Do you have any idea what this is going to do to my credit?!”

It might be cute and worth watching but it could never top Thumb Wars

My personal favorite line in the whole thing is what “Obi” says to “Luke” when he’s about to blow up the “death star”.

Quotes used so I don’t ruin any of the changed names for those that haven’t watched it.

Benaiah on June 5, 2007 at 6:25 PM

That just has “awesomeness” written ALLLLLL over it. Hope I can remember to tune in.

Understood…”Obi’s” name in Thumbs is too, TOO funny!

Is that W Lightsaber fighting Honest Abe?

Drtuddle on June 5, 2007 at 7:31 PM

I can’t believe I wasted 21 minutes of my life watching “Thumb Wars”.

Still better than five minutes of the View.

They just will milk Star Wars for all it’s worth, won’t they?

Wait, they’re milking it for even more than it’s worth.

However, “I’ll never get a spaceship! Never!” amused me a fair bit.

A longer link where Darth Vader calls the Emperor after the Death Star is blown up. It’s pretty darn funny.
“What, do you mean, “Blew up the Death Star?”" …snip…“What the hell is an aluminum falcon?” …snip… “That thing wasn’t even fully paid off yet. Do you have any idea what this is going to do to my credit”

He makes Vader cry. That’s darn funny.

Only the first Star Wars should have been made.

The rest are calculated reshuffles.

Getting progressively more flashly and less human.

Until the machines alone were left.
