Messiah warns: No justice, no peace

posted at 3:00 pm on June 5, 2007 by Allahpundit

Two birds with one stone: he reassures the racist cretins who’ve been demagoging him from the left that he is in fact “authentically black” while also hinting that if we’re worried about what happens to a dream deferred, we had best make sure the deferral ends soon. Like, say, next November.

It’s worth noting that Obama himself isn’t directly quoted as saying an “eruption” is imminent, but the AP seems to have taken his meaning pretty clearly. Nothing like a veiled threat of violence to liven up a primary, eh?

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Tuesday that the Bush administration has done nothing to defuse a “quiet riot” among blacks that threatens to erupt just as riots in Los Angeles did 15 years ago

Repeatedly, he referred to the riots that erupted in Los Angeles after a jury acquitted four police officers of assault charges in the 1991 beating of Rodney King, a black motorist, after a high speed chase. Fifty-five people died and 2,000 were injured in several days of riots in the city’s black neighborhoods.

“Those ‘quiet riots’ that take place every day are born from the same place as the fires and the destruction and the police decked out in riot gear and the deaths,” Obama said. “They happen when a sense of disconnect settles in and hope dissipates. Despair takes hold and young people all across this country look at the way the world is and believe that things are never going to get any better.”

Exit question one: Does the guy who fancies himself the candidate of “healing” really want to go this route? Exit question two: In the face of such hopelessness, just how audacious is the “audacity of hope,” anyway? (Exit answer: Audaciously audacious!)

Update: Marc Ambinder has the full speech. Precisely what you’d expect: he’s careful to say that violence is “inexcusable” and “self-defeating” while also making it sound kind of, well, inevitable and understandable if things continue as they are:

Those “quiet riots” that take place every day are born from the same place as the fires and the destruction and the police decked out in riot gear and the deaths. They happen when a sense of disconnect settles in and hope dissipates. Despair takes hold and young people all across this country look at the way the world is and believe that things are never going to get any better. You tell yourself, my school will always be second rate. You tell yourself, there will never be a good job waiting for me to excel at. You tell yourself, I will never be able to afford a place that I can be proud of and call my home. That despair quietly simmers and makes it impossible to build strong communities and neighborhoods. And then one afternoon a jury says, “Not guilty” — or a hurricane hits New Orleans — and that despair is revealed for the world to see.

It’s comforting to know that this kind of threat didn’t work for Royal in France against Sarkozy, hopefully American voters will resent them just as much.

And doesn’t this strained analogy of the “quiet riot” sound a lot like the one he tried to draw between the VA Tech murders and Imus’s comments? I tend to find Obama the least offensive of the Dem candidates but I’m starting to wonder if there is anything at all to this guy.

The first-term Illinois senator said that with black people from New Orleans and the Gulf Coast still displaced 20 months after Hurricane Katrina, frustration and resentments are building explosively as they did before the 1992 riots.

Hmmm…No White people were displaced? Or Hispanics? Or Orientals? Just Blacks huh? Dam racist hurricanes!

To be fair, he’s not the first Presidential candidate to threaten us with riots.

I remember Al Gore after losing the election claiming that if things didn’t get straightened out that there could be rioting . Kind of a long hot Summer redux.

If I have this right, Barry was raised by his white mother in Hawaii until his White grandparents took over the job. If that is correct than Barry being an angry man of color is about as on target as Ms. Rice being a tool of the White man.

If he thinks quiet riots are taking place because of Katrina he is a fool. Katrina can be an excuse to do so, but not the reason.

Where was he before Katrina when the average income was $7,000 a year for some of the hardest hit areas. These Johnny come lately moralizers need to look at the facts before they speak.

He is exploiting Katrina at the expense of his base…wink.

Blah Blah Blah Yeah Yeah Yeah Barry. Come to South Florida and witness the Haitian refugees thriving and flourishing in Broward County. These people risk their lives crossing shark infested waters in rickety row boats. Many of them drowned. They own much of broward county property and many of the business. They coexist within the American culture just fine. They are the second largest ethnic group here now. They learned job skills and are now second generation college grads. What about the emerging South African business scene. What do these groups have in common? I can think of a few traits, hope, optimism a positive attitude and above all STRONG WORK ETHIC. They also possess enough common sense not to be disillusioned by a messiah want-a-be. Barry is to the black experience as Edwards is to the poverty experience. So take your BOO GAME sideshow carnival down the road!

Uhh dude. He’s not. He belongs (did belong actually , before his candidacy) to a racist black “church”. That preached all about “black” values. Most of these values were in line with Islamonazi master race bullsh!t. He spent time in a madrassah when he was younger. And he still clings to his Islamic name “Hakim”. Now if that is a Christian, I’d like to sell you a bridge.

Andy in Agoura Hills on June 5, 2007 at 7:14 PM

Black people I worked with at the time said “Ain’t nobody gonna riot over OJ” and I suspect the same is true of Obama. Priviledge and success trump race every time, and black Americans are keenly aware of it.

If Obama was a little more aware of authenitc black American experience, he would be against the immigration bill. He’d be sick of everybody cutting in line ahead of African Americans. He’d know we have a debt to pay to African Americans and we need to set things right before we go allowing millions more people in this country. There should be no more immigration until the majority of blacks are firmly settled in the middle class for a generation or two.

There is a legal term for this. It’s called “Criminal Syndicalism” and is specifically illegal at least in Oklahoma and probably in other states as well. Look it up in one of the on-line legal dictionaries and you can see for yourself. I’ll bet those who expressed the sentments Obama repeated – and Obama himself – are unaware of this or just don’t care.

The lingering issues have more to do with black racism and cultural self-hatred than “economic and social traps”. The OJ riots weren’t about economics, they were about racism and lawlessness, and Osama isn’t talking about economic traps, he’s talking about a half white-half African Hawaiian becoming President, or American blacks will riot.
