Video: “Fido” trailer
posted at 1:46 pm on June 2, 2007 by Allahpundit
Despite my fondness for all things zombie and its imminent release date, I hadn’t heard of this flick until reader Adrian G. e-mailed me about it last night. Adrian wonders if it might not be an allegory about illegal immigration. Maybe … but it’s a Canadian production and set in the 1950s. Seems a bit far afield. I think it’s your standard zombies-as-proletariat metaphor, which George Romero himself used to such crappy effect in “Land of the Dead.”
Strange but true: unrecognizable under all that zombie make-up in the role of Fido is none other than Billy Connolly. Yes, that Billy Connolly. Yes, from “Head of the Class.” Click the image to watch.

Looks to me like they are scraping the bottom to the sludge barrel with this movie.

Looks like crap, but I love me some Billy Connolly.
I’m glad to see that Allah and I share disdain for “Land of the Dead.” A movie about zombies, made for zombies.
You know what I wanna see? Worst Case Scenario. Nazi zombies. As far as I know they’ve only shot some promo footage to score some financial backing, but it looks sooooo cool.

I love the zombie genre. Not for the social lessons, mind you, but just for the flesh eating apocalyptic doomsday free for all.

I hope World War Z is good. I liked the book, though Brooks pissed me off with the whole universal health care thing at the beginning…
Zombie Survival Guide is decent too.
I like the whole Zombie genre, but its funny, I haven’t watched too many zombie movies, I play zombie related games mostly. I’d love if they put out arcade rail shooter games like House of the Dead on the Wii and make a lightgun…*drool*

Being the film person that I am, I saw an early review for this on AICN awhile ago that praised the film, and some of the more recent reviews have given it good marks, too. When hubby and I don’t have the kids, we’ll have to catch this one.
