Don’t let him see the blogosphere for a few months!

This is reality ripping off Entertainment: a few years ago there was a movie made in Germany about a woman who was a Party hack who fell into a coma just before the Wall came down, and wakes up in Capitalism

good flick, but I can’t remember the name….

He doesn’t have anything to complain about because he doesn’t know what is going on, doesn’t care, or is comfortable with being taken care of.

Let him look for a decent paying job in my area and see what he says.

omegaram on June 1, 2007 at 10:56 PM

Its called being grateful and humble.

I hope he has the best 30-40 years yet to come, ever. And his wife is a hero with hope, wow.

That’s really missing the point. Personally I’d be upset to learn I’d lost nearly 20 years of my life and would rate it far above being poor, but clearly this guy isn’t bummed. That’s generally considered a good thing.

Esthier on June 1, 2007 at 11:12 PM

Talk about culture shock. What a miracle! I couldn’t imagine waking up 19 years in the future. What an amazing story.

“I’ve got nothing to complain about.”

He could complain about Poland’s becoming a vacant lot in the Dar al-Islam.

19 year coma? I thought that only happened in the movies. How does that happen without severe brain damage?

OHH… Too funny!

sonnyspats1 on June 1, 2007 at 11:29 PM

I think I know how he feels. I was in deteriorating health, not expecting to recover, when my doctor and I stumbled on the cause. I can only find a reason to complain in the area of politics.

stonemeister on June 1, 2007 at 11:59 PM

Too bad Woody Allen’s ‘O’ machine hasn’t come on line yet.

Limerick on June 2, 2007 at 12:26 AM

Holy time machine Batman, 19 years. Wow. Wonder how someone survives that. It’s a miracle.
Just think, going to sleep in 1987, and not waking up until 2007. All the things that have gone on. Whew.

frankj on June 1, 2007 at 11:20 PM

A coma can be caused by many things, it isn’t the same as vegetative, and quite often there is no brain damage.

I’ve known a handful of people who were in a coma more than six months (over two years in one case) who came out of them fine as far as their brains were concerned. Physical rehab of the limbs and muscles is another story.

I don’t think this man will complain about anything in the political or social realm for quite some time. He has a great deal of adjusting to do first, and obviously his attitude is positive. His wife is definitely something else.

Is it just me or am I now getting advertisements when I click on some of your stories?

I clicked once on this link and I got some garbage hijacking my Explorer and wanting to sell me ‘Errorsafe’ with lovely pop-ups telling me my PC is in danger. The second time I clicked, I got to this page.

Not cool, NB. I don’t like blogs that force ads on me. At all. Don’t you have enough ads going on your site?

Not cool.

lostinfrance on June 2, 2007 at 6:48 AM

It’s a miracle for sure. I hope someone is recording his comments as he observes the world around him. What a unique perspective.

lostinfrance, I’ve never had problem with pop-ups at Hot Air or Michelle’s signature site. Drudge is a different story.

Zorro on June 2, 2007 at 7:32 AM

I take a look at all the tremendous things I have witnessed in the last 20 years. In 1988, I would never have dreamed of the society and innovations we have today. I cannot imagine what it must be like for him as he tried to reacquaint himself with a world without having been awake during these past two decades.

Agreed, Zorro. That would be fascinating.

Getruda?

Ouch.

Cool story otherwise, however.
