Video: Annie Jacobsen and Audrey Hudson on Flight 327

posted at 12:28 pm on May 30, 2007 by Allahpundit

Here’s the woman who started it all and the woman who’s been covering it ever since for the WashTimes, each turning up on Fox today in the wake of the Inspector General’s report on the flight finally being released. The Foxies want to know if it was a dry run or not, which no one can say for sure, but Jacobsen astutely steers towards the larger issue — the breakdown within DHS agencies in failing to report the incident to Homeland Security’s operations center, precisely the type of function which they’re expected to perform after 9/11. As you’ll see, the TSA spokesman who appears here to answer Jacobsen doesn’t do much better by way of explanation than “it wasn’t a dry run.”

I guess we’ll take her word for it. Don’t miss the boss’s lengthy critique of the report from yesterday.

The TSA woman was cocky. Basically, she said it was suspicious, there are US Marshalls who say it is a dry run, the Inspector General said it was mishandled, federal agents ended up meeting the plane on the ground, yet, the DHS did nothing about it.

Did they NOT learn a damn thing from 9/11,
except cover their butts.

Unbelieveable.

The smirk she had on her face the entire time was sickening.

As time goes by, it becomes obvious how few of us learned anything at all from it. Not to worry, though; we’re going to get more chances. And I doubt we’ll have very long to wait.

Sad but true Mike. I too believe that we will see another 9/11, if not worse.

Let me guess — and when it happens, the response of the Democratic congress will be to double Homeland Security’s budget and raise all of our taxes — because they all have such a fervent desire to “help” all of us. (Do you have any lingering doubts that “help” is four letter word?)

TSA….Totally Stupid Agency!

And our Democratic president will lob a couple of cruise missiles into Iran and we’ll boohoo about it for a while and go back to sleep.

I was a bit shocked when I saw that cocky smirk on that TSA broad. She never wiped it off her face and seemed annoyed that she was even there and that Annie must have been making this all up. I also thought that at the end of her interview when she said “she would be interested to see what the talking head would say” was absolutely telling.
Like most of you, I am also afraid that we’ll get worse the next time around and also am afraid it may not be too long as well. Notice there is hardly any press about the Fort Dix Six anymore even though that involves illegal aliens, terrorism but maybe if it’s on a military base it’s fine by them. Just my opinion and as Rosie would say, I’m entitled to it.

Well it’s a good thing this story didn’t involve anything like “Radical Jihadist” trying to plan another 9/11.

KCtheKat on May 30, 2007 at 2:23 PM

Better to err on the side of caution rather than wait for an attack to happen. I can’t understand the whole “play it down” attitude.

Kini on May 30, 2007 at 3:08 PM

And I guess it’s just a “conincidence” that in the summer of 2006 they arrested some jihadi’s in England that were planning on blowing up airlines using the same method that these guys were practicing on the Northwest flight…carrying on liquids and mixing them on board.
It’s scary that we are trusting our lives to these TSA SOB’s. Not to worry though. We can feel safe that an airplane won’t get blown up by any 85 year old white women.

AZ_Mike on May 30, 2007 at 5:57 PM

Playing devil’s advocate (and without reading the report as of yet) could the TSA just have been downplaying the incident to us in order to not dissolve a potential lead but they infact were investigating and following these guys? For instance, ‘We know, let’s just not let them know we know.’

I’m not sure full disclosure is always in our best interest.

geckomon on May 30, 2007 at 5:58 PM

The TSA rep’s snobby attitude said it all.

She and TSA are not worried about passenger safety, they are only worried about not offending Muslims.

Hard to be offended when you’re dead.

The Bride of Monster has allergies. The way she treats them is to inject herself every few days with a small quantity of the things she’s allergic to. Each shot is just a little bigger than the one before. This gradually desensitizes her system so she can be exposed to more of these things without reacting.

It wasn’t a ‘dry run’. It was a deliberate attempt to desensitize our immune system so we won’t act against the next 9/11. “Flying Imams and musicians are just victims of islamophobia.”

Sheeeesh the point is to report EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING to the database and have a group looking at trends. That’s how the NSA used to do it in WWII; ya know, when it worked.
