Video: Thunderous boos for Miss USA at Miss Universe pageant — in Mexico City; Update: Early-round booing video added

posted at 7:41 am on May 29, 2007 by Allahpundit

And is that a chant of “Mexico” I hear while the question’s being asked? Ah, well, don’t worry — that sort of thing will be magically assimilated away once they cross the border, join the next gran marcha, and have the Mexican flag they’re carrying replaced with a small American one by an “immigration rights” advocate who knows what plays well on TV and what doesn’t.

Let it be noted, too, that apparently this sort of thing’s been going on for days:

In the days leading up to the final selection, Miss USA Rachel Smith endured boos from the public because of her country’s attitude toward Mexicans living there.

She put on a brave face, as you’ll see here, but it may have gotten to her — she slipped and fell during the evening gown competition.

I can’t possibly imagine what “her country’s attitude toward Mexicans” might mean, unless the crowd was peeved that we’re so welcoming to illegals that we’re bleeding Mexico dry population-wise. Or is it that knotty $5,000 fine we’re (momentarily) insisting that they pay before they become full-fledged U.S. citizens notwithstanding their lawbreaking in entering the country and their burdening public services?

Classy folks. As you’re about to see, they’ll fit in well with the Democratic base.

Update: After the fall.

Update: Two more videos for you — first the fall, and the second (via the boss) of another warm Mexican greeting for Miss USA displaying her “native” costume. Which, let us properly acknowledge, was awesome. It comes at around halfway through the clip.

It’s really a shame. Mexicans that are here working would never act like that. Well, most of them anyway. Most are great people that are just trying to make a dollar. It seems the onces that are IN Mexico should stay there.

They must have said something to the crowd during the commercial break after the booing because I didn’t hear any more boo’s when she was announced for the final walk.

I am going to take a wild guess and say that Donald Trump will NOT allow his pageant to be held in Mexico ever again. I hope I’m right.

By the way, Miss Brazil should have won!

Classy folks indeed.

I have a question. Is the $5,000 to be payed in one lump sum or do they get to split it up into smaller payments? I haven’t heard that mentioned.

Originally it was to be split into two fines…one at $1,000, the other at $4,000. No word on if/how it could be paid in installments, or if it must all be collected at one time…you know, coyote style.

Miss USA Rachel Smith endured boos from the public because of her country’s attitude toward Mexicans living there.

You can’t make this stuff up.
The funny part is, I assume only the wealthy Mexicans can afford a ticket, or can be bothered attending Miss Universe.
Are they mad that we’re moving companies to Mexico and giving them jobs?
Are they booing the fact that we take in their unemployed, thus lowering their country’s burden?
Are they booing all the American dollars that make their way back into Mexican banks?

They must think we’ve kidnapped those 12-20 million Mexicans.

Buck Turgidson on May 29, 2007 at 9:07 AM

To start, I watch these things religiously for two reasons:
1. My wife used to compete and so this is her **super bowl** …ie. don’t even think about touching the clicker, pal.

2. It’s a great opportunity to take in some bikini clad international eye candy without my wife giving me a 肘の殴打.

That being prefaced, it was a flock of super hot candidates this year! Most years there are a few beautiful standouts and the standard crowd of bleach blonde stick figures. This year’s herd was mint – with the exception of the scary bald chick from Africa and Miss Mexico who had WAY too much cellulite ridden junk in the trunk for that bikini bottom.

I’m not surprised at the classless reaction of the crowd; I travel extensively for work and with the family on vacations and lately I find that it has become internationally acceptable to be publicly rude to American citizens. She did the right thing taking the high road and brushing it off as the jealous personification of ignorance that it was.

BTW, The right contestant won she’s a 女神.

Miss America is a classy lady with a lot of poise. Deliberately teaching anti-Americanism in schools, as Mexico does when it teaches that the Southwest and California were stolen, should be grounds for some sort of penalty, trade or immigration, perhaps. Why let it go on without consequences? This is nothing but low-grade warfare.

Aardvark on May 29, 2007 at 9:58 AM

Smack your heads. They hate America because their own freeking government refuses to take care of them, mostly by way of a non-corupted government, and make business available so they don’t come here and they blame us? Yeah that’s about right for jack-booted commie/socilist arseholes. Screw them.

That’s like saying all employees must love their bosses. They don’t, they just need the paycheck. Just because America is the best source of money in the world doesn’t mean people are going to like it. Rather, it makes them resent us all the more that they have to come here rather than prosper in their own countries that they feel pride for.

Conservatives love to cite immigration as evidence that America-hating is leftist hype or else hollow hypocrisy. It’s neither. We have no measure of how many immigrants actually love this place because almost all of our immigration at present is simply mercantile.

And I’m supposed to be politically correct in how I speak to you? Nuh uh. Not a chance! Get the f$*% out of our country!

Alex- You’re exactly correct but not in the way that you mean. What you describe is why we need to restrict these type of malcontents who simply come here for the money while hating us and our culture from coming to our country in the first place.

Best way to do that: Deport illegals and screen legal applicants better. Stop importing anti-semitic Muslims into our country and add more immigrants from pro-U.S. countries: Philippines, Thailand, etc. and less (how about none?) from Palestine, Egypt, etc.

People from backwards countries (e.g. Mexico) are always going to hate people from successful countries. If we welcome the envious malcontents by appeasing them with a lax immigration procedure and not demanding that they assimilate, they will simply add contempt to their hate, just as terrorists do when we try to appease them.

George Bush pandered to Mexicans during his years as governor in Texas and throughout his years as president.

How could anyone with an above room temperature IQ possbily say that America’s foreign/immigration policies to Mexico are to blame for this?

ScottMcC on May 29, 2007 at 12:06 PM

Were they chanting ‘Osama Bin Laden’ like the soccer fans or just outraged that Mexicans only get free medical, an IRS pass on back taxes and in-state tuition as ‘punishment’ for their crimes of crossing the border illegally and using fraudulent ID?

DANEgerus on May 29, 2007 at 12:15 PM

Mexicans have a fond saying:

“Poor Mexico; so far from God, so close to the United States.”

Absent from consideration in that statement, of course, is what we Americans think of having to live next door to Mexico; but whoever first said,

“Good fences make good neighbors” -

Probably had Mexicans living next door.

Spurius Ligustinus on May 29, 2007 at 12:17 PM

I still remember going to the USA-Mexico game here in San Diego, a damned exhibition match and having the mexican fans boo during the national anthemn and chant ‘OSAMA’ as Dane mentioned. No they weren’t doing that because of the immigration claim, most of them did it because they hated the US and I’ll bet you half of them were illegal immigrants

Defector01 on May 29, 2007 at 12:26 PM

The more often I observe the rude, arrogant, barbaric behavior of other countries in general, and toward US citizens in particular, the more I realize how truly special the USA is, and how truly better, superior in thought, word, and deed conservatives in the USA are.

ScottMcC on May 29, 2007 at 12:06 PM

An excellent point, ScottMcC!

Contrary to his detractors, Bush’s IQ is in the superior range, near genius level, which says more about the stupidity of those who point the finger at Bush, mocking him as an idiot, while their remaining three fingers and thumb are pointing back at them.

Nevertheless, this is absurd! Mexicans abusing a beauty pageant contestant as a substitute for bashing the US herself? That is an attack against all of us, not just Miss USA.

Our tolerance is excessive and in recent times is actually damaging to our sovereignty, our security, and our prosperity.

Were it not for the compassion, patience, and acceptance of US citizens and the US government, Mexican illegals would be cursing the day they trespassed, and Mexico and her people, would be even worse off than they are now!

For the sake of the safety of the US citizenry, our government should secure our borders and enforce current immigation laws.

I am STUNNED by how naive the average American is about this imminent screw job.

I was at a party last Friday night. A woman whose husband owns the SECOND largest homebuilding company in ALL OF Virginia was there PRAISING the work the illegals (that they KNOWINGLY HIRE) did on her GORGEOUS 11,000 sq.ft personal home. When I attempted to bust on the illegals and the Republicans (that everyone in that room have had dinner with once or twice in the past few months) who are screwing their Base>>>>>>NONE OF THEM WOULD HEAR OF IT.

They just want their CHEAP , hardworking labor.

I was the turd in the punchbowl when I pointed out that the very moment this slave class they are so fond of is “legitimized”, how hard (read: fearfully) do you think the Mexicans will work THEN, HHMMMM????

And what of the crime rate EXPLOSION>>>anybody thought of THAT? MOST will mind their P’s and Q’s if there is always the THREAT of deportation (real or imagined).

When they have NOTHING TO FEAR>>>>

Why should immigrants of any status respect us or our beloved Nation when we don’t respect ourselves enough to fight for our own Nation’s unity and security?

Why should their children grow up to love and protect the unity of America when their parents hate us to begin with?

If any migrant can just move in, make babies and stay, why then should they care, about assimilation, respecting our traditions, live by our morals or care about obeying our laws?

Human nature is to hate what you don’t earn, Mexico is a crap hole because Mexicans allow it to be that way and Mexicans hate us because we we give too much and don’t respect ourselves enough to demand they keep to their own business and fix their own tyranny.

Y’know, Mexico (and the rest of North America) probably would have been invaded and conquered a long time ago without the United States acting as a deterrent against aggressors from other parts of the world. Most Mexican nationals don’t seem to realize that. Do Mexicans really think their country would exist today without the United States to anchor this continent–indeed, this entire hemisphere? Perhaps they think that if we hadn’t “stolen” Texas and the rest of the southwest that Mexico would be the world’s only superpower today? No, I’m guessing that if Mexico still controlled Texas, California, New Mexico, and Arizona, those states would be poverty-stricken hellholes whose citizens would be clamoring to illegally cross the borders of Oklahoma, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado.

Not to state the obvious, but I wouldn’t die to stick with a boss I hate, no matter how big the paycheck, much less participate in illegal acts.

On a second note, the LAND of America is not what makes it great…the PEOPLE of America are what makes us great (and by that I mean people of all races and nationalities, as that is who lives here, contributes, and for the most part, recognizes how blessed they are to be here, as I do every day). If we open the borders, we’ll just become any other country with too many mouths to feed, too many kids to educate, and too many medical bills to foot, without enough money to do so. Legal immigration is what America is made of, I’m all down for that. But granting amnesty and allowing billions of dollars to just be handed over to people who have come here illegally, use our resources and the have the audacity to have no respect for us is not acceptable.

Lastly, I am most interested in our own safety. If we open the borders, how long could it possibly take for someone with the money of Al-Qaeda backing them to really do some damage?

I ask for three things: legality, safety, and a little appreciation. Is that too much to ask?

Wow! THREE latinas in the top ten.
Unbelievable, we have FOUR latinas in the top 10.

You won’t hear this kind of rascist stuff on the English networks. Can you imagine? “Hey, it’s a white girl!” “Look! ANOTHER white girl!”

It was a pretty disgusting display.

I find the Mexican mentality towards the US just…baffling. I can’t believe we’re opening the door to people that secretly loathe our country, just want to exploit it for their own monetary gain. Many Mexicans who become citizens have alliance to Mexico–not the US. Case in point, a few months ago the US Soccer team played Mexico in Phoenix, Arizona. 75% of the stadium was Mexico fans, almost all US citizens. That told me all I needed to know about these people, who, evidently, are taking over the country.

Which real guy could fall for such artificial ‘beauties’ anyway? Even the answers they provide are so plastic.

- “What was your most memorable moment, to do over in your life, if you could?”
- “Spending time in Africa with Oprah”

Rehearsed and plastic. And boring beyond imagination.

I meet several illegals each day around Seattle, and most are very friendly. That being said, this display in Mex City really tees me off. We do have to build a wall. A real wall. the whole way, even on top of the cliffs! And screw the Rio Grande Water Weasels whose migration paths will be cut off!

If they can boo our beauty queen at the pagent, can I boo their fat ugly women at the dollar store?

**cough, cough* I’m a *real* guy and I married one. She’s a college grad, speaks 5 and writes 3 languages, she’s poised and in control both personally and professionally, she dresses to the nines, is hotter than a $2 pistol and there isn’t ANYTHING plastic in her or about her.

Think of these contests as a job interview, you speak, act, and dress a little bit differently just for that occasion. It’s easy to make fun of these girls, but picture being in front of gazillions of people in a teensy weensy bikini, trying to form insightful answers to vague questions extemporaneously, striving for perfection for years and being judged on this one moment.

Mostly it’s jealous women who look down on pageant girls because they are so beautiful and have such striking personalities and drive that they command any room they walk into. But your probably right, why would anyone fall for a pageant girl?

Way to go Alden. A Hot Air tip of the hat to your charming wife.

OK, that wins my vote for funniest comment on this thread.

Tip: If there’s not a dollar store in your area, you’ll find all the illegals you’d ever want to boo in Wal-Mart, America’s own grimy, Third World cess-pool in every American town.

Redhead Infidel on May 30, 2007 at 12:56 PM

Were they chanting ‘Osama Bin Laden’ like the soccer fans or just outraged that Mexicans only get free medical, an IRS pass on back taxes and in-state tuition as ‘punishment’ for their crimes of crossing the border illegally and using fraudulent ID?

Yes, they chanted “Osama” as well as booed this poor beautiful lady. I e-mailed the article to everyone in my address book, it makes me seethe with anger how anyone could be so uncouth, disrespectful, and downright ugly as to boo a woman (during the middle of a beauty contest) let alone chant “Osama” is unthinkable and so revolting it makes me want to join ICE and help round em all up and ship em back to their SH**HOLE country!

I’m quite sure it’s more of a sporting mentality than political (as in soccer). Have you ever been to a American/Mexican soccer match… I have and those feelings are felt in every competitive event between the two countries.

It has nothing to do with “our policies” as Trump claimed.

Opinionnation on May 29, 2007 at 2:37 PM

First, while I do believe girl-watching is a sporting event (in my book) sporting event or beauty pageant, there is absolutely no excuse I can think of that would justify chanting “Osama” when the sheer mention of that butchers name conjures up images of 9-11 and the 3,000 innocent people that SCUMBUCKET put to death, not to mention all of the victims family and friends that still suffer having to hear such vileness is just unforgivable!

Their words speak loud and clear how they feel about America…build the wall NOW, then Round up ALL the illegal ingrates and let them rot in MEXICO!!

I was thinking the same thing. I felt kinda bad when Gregor insulted him after not getting the sarcasm, then I realized that it wasn’t sarcasm. . .

Wow. That country would be a giant toilet if it wasn’t for the U.S., and this is the thanks that we get?

Build the freakin’ wall!

WisCon on May 29, 2007 at 9:07 AM

That country is a giant toilet. Why do you think they come here in droves?

“When they robbed our territory,” referring to when Texas, California, and New Mexico were annexed to the US as part of a peace treaty ending the war between the two countries, “that was the beginning.” (Gerardo Gonzales)

I’m sure all of you know this, but that statement is an outright lie. I don’t know about California and New Mexico, but Texas was not annexed by the US. We were an independant nation that joined the US because it was in our best interest. Just like we gained independance by kicking Mexico’s ass because that was in our best interest.

What we should do, is say to Mexico, “What? You don’t like our immigration policy? Okay, we’ll adopt yours.”

Also, I would like to take this time to say that it’s hard to not be racist when a group of people is trying thier damndest to prove true every racist thing you’ve ever heard about them.
