Brian Morganstern, the Circuit City clerk whose tip led to the arrest of the “Ft Dix Six” appeared on CNN’s American Morning today. I’ve edited the interview for length.

Quote:

Roberts: You’re being hailed as a hero. How do you feel about that?

Morganstern: I don’t feel like a hero, to be honest with you. I feel like I did the right thing. But the real heroes are our men and women overseas, and the people in our law enforcement who handled this situation.

Anyone want to start a pool as to when a fatwa will be issued?

You’ve just seen the definition of “class”.

Brian Morgenstern in 08!

soulsirkus on May 29, 2007 at 11:22 AM

People like him make me really proud. As someone else from NJ, I wish we could multiply him by a few million. What an amazing guy.

He is a true hero. True heroes receive praise for their actions and then deflect it to people they believe to be more worthy.

I hope he has a good attorney with a sound track record in CYA ability when it comes to what will surely be announced at a surely upcoming CAIR press conference.

austinnelly on May 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM

I don’t know if any fatwas will be issued, but I have 100 bucks for a legal defense pool if that becomes necessary.

How come I’m not suprised that this guy doesn’t have long stringy hair or dreds or a scraggly beard?

Good job, Brian.

KelliD on May 29, 2007 at 11:32 AM

Is it me, or is the silent majority really making our country a whole lot safer?

Naa…although Homeland Security would be nice. Either him or Rudy (McCain can be secretary of state).

Mitt!/Fred? for prez!

I admire what he did, but does anyone else think he’s crazy to reveal his identity? Given the people he turned in were willing to commit acts of terrorism and murder, I’d think discretion would be the better part of valor. We don’t really know how many (if any) Al Qaeda sympathizers might be out there wanting sub cheap publicity/terrorist street cred. It would be easier for a crazy to make a statement by going after one lone guy on his way to work than to attack an Army post.

Of course, if the MSM was going to reveal his identity anyway, he might have felt it was better to give an interview and get out ahead of things.

Or, he’s simply a brave man.

At any rate, good for him for doing the right thing.

The Colossus on May 29, 2007 at 11:48 AM

Sorry, that should read “some cheap publicity/terrorist street cred” in my last comment.

The Colossus on May 29, 2007 at 11:49 AM

He is for sure a brave Man! Good Job Brian.

I’d be willing to bet anyone 10 to 1 he’s a Republican. or maybe at his age he may not know he is yet.

abinitioadinfinitum on May 29, 2007 at 12:27 PM

Thank you, Brian!

SouthernGent on May 29, 2007 at 12:44 PM

Colossus, you don’t think that the jihadis would be able to find their way back to the store where they tried to have their 8mm video copied onto CD? I mean, I agree these guys aren’t smart, but I think they’re smart enough to remember what store they went to lol. In other words, they already know full well who turned them in and I’m sure their mates know too.

It’s all about keeping your eyes and ears open, and then doing something when you’re confronted with it.

P.S. I liked the page turn effect, Bryan.

The Colossus on May 29, 2007 at 11:48 AM

Shedding light is the only way.

If you do anything else, then terrorism has worked.

I say it would be “crazy” to knuckle under to fear.

If everyone in this country could only figure that out, the terrorists would have no power whatsoever.

It is also what Memorial Day is all about.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Here we have a young man who looks them in the eye and refuses to react in the manner in which the terrorists are convinced we all would.

That is the American Spirit that every single one of our enemies has always underestimated, to their own demise.

“Give me freedom or give me death.”

Of course, I get the feeling that this particular fellow would go for the Patton rather than the Henry and say something along the lines of, “Give me freedom or I’ll give YOU death, lowlifes!”

Booyah.

The Colossus on May 29, 2007 at 11:48 AM

Good question. Some would say there is a fine line between brave and crazy. I think he sets a good example for the rest of us that we shouldn’t be afraid of crazy terrorist criminals.

Nice work, brotha!

Thanks, Brian! You are a hero to us.

God Bless you and keep you safe.

tickleddragon on May 29, 2007 at 2:15 PM

Wow,
Citizens keeping their eyes and ears open, protecting us from terrorists in New Jersey, just like citizens on the border reporting infiltrations across our border of drug runners, gang members and potebtial murderes.
If citizens keep providing for their own defense, we are going to have to abolish the government!

paulsur on May 29, 2007 at 2:52 PM

And the lawsuits begin in 5…4…3…2…

Legal defense fund, He11! How about a pool to get this man a fire arm and some training because the wackos he’s pissed off don’t necessarily work through the legal system. This man has more guts than half the idiots in Washington and I am proud to share a country with him. Good on you, sir!

Militant Bibliophile on May 29, 2007 at 3:27 PM

Democrats are probably already overwhelming him with hate mail.

roninacreage on May 29, 2007 at 4:51 PM

He completely violated the democrats “no snitch” policy. There will be hell to pay.

gary on May 29, 2007 at 5:49 PM

Why are Debbie Schlussel on her site, and you Bryan, here, using the name Morganstein, when the article she links to from CNN’s transcript of the interview, the picture above, and many other references show him to be a Morgenstein?

Entelechy on May 29, 2007 at 9:22 PM

Sorry, s/b Morgenstern, not Morganstern – mea culpa.

Entelechy on May 29, 2007 at 9:24 PM

Great, so we can expect CAIR to sue him any day now.

/sarcasm off

Nicely done, Brian.
