Kathy Griffin: Rosie quit because of the split screen

Such a child. What she means is she quit because Hasselbeck finally hit back at her hard enough to warrant that split-screen treatment.

But of course, she’s a good friend. Even when she’s defending the defacement of Hasselbeck’s photos.

“I don’t even know where to start,” she told a sold-out crowd at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. “I tell you who I got a call from [on Friday]. ‘Hey Kath. It’s Ro. What are you doing? Wanna hang out?’ I spent the whole day with Rosie! How about that!?’”…

Griffin has guest-hosted on The View twice in the last two weeks, “so I was there before, and after the whole split-screen, Hannity and Colmes s—,” she said.

Revealing a conversation she had with O’Donnell about how the show’s producers split O’Donnell’s image with Hasselbeck’s during their fight, Griffin said: “And that’s what it was. I said, ‘What was really it?’ And she said, ‘The split-screen.’ She said, ‘I don’t want to do Hannity and Colmes. ‘ ”

Griffin also explained O’Donnell’s reaction to news that Donald Trump had called Hasselbeck “stupid” in TV interviews. “Awww. that’s sad,” was her reaction, according to Griffin, who added: “So, she doesn’t even hate Elisabeth.”

Update: Wow. Tough week for Truthers.

Split screen?? Are you freakin kidding me?? What a baby!

Good riddance, you hateful lie-spewing cow.

I like the KISS principle. I just figured she was canned for being such a moron. But I’m naive.

Rosie just knew she couldn’t defend her position when pressed so she took the easy way out…left the show. She may be a bully, but she sure can’t take what she dishes out.

katieanne on May 27, 2007 at 1:54 PM

So what was it about the split screen? Was it that she realized that the producers really were using her? That they really were giving her enough rope to hang herself? That they were ready at a moment’s notice to give equal video platform to both sides: truth versus truther?

Funny how the whole “blowup” really wasn’t handled as well as most of us would have liked, yet the result was just as good as if it had been. Give credit where it is due and take it away from where it is not. Rosie did little to advance anything but her own aspirations. Did someone mention an HBO talk show? God, I hope not. Though, if it is true I will know where I can cut a little “fat” out of my budget. Pun intended.

ej_pez on May 27, 2007 at 1:59 PM

She may be a bully, but she sure can’t take what she dishes out.

That’s what being a bully is all about. They can dish it out, they can push people around, but when someone punches them in their fat pig nose, they fall like a sack of bricks. Remember that movie Peter Billingsley in it? He kept getting picked on by the school bully, and when he fought back, that was it.
Rosie’s a bully. When someone fights back, she turns her little pig tail and runs.

SuperManGreenLantern on May 27, 2007 at 2:23 PM

Rosie called someone a coward and then ran away. Because she’s courageous.

frankj on May 27, 2007 at 2:30 PM

maybe I’m grumpy…but who cares? An irrelevant woman is gone from an irrelevant show.

next.

Pilgrim on May 27, 2007 at 2:36 PM

With friends like that, who needs enemies. The split screen excuse is complete BS. It’s a lefty way of defending free speech crazy talk so that the pity police won’t cite them with over doing playing the sympathy card.

At least she can look to Scientology for comfort. The religion of crazy people, they know.

Kini on May 27, 2007 at 2:54 PM

Even Perez Hilton is starting to call Rosie crazy; with her endless talking about how she left. Perez was on Rosie’s side right away, but has drifted away, it seems.

lorien1973 on May 27, 2007 at 3:01 PM

So it was the Split screen, huh?

Doesn’t want to be ‘Hannity and Combs’

Yeah, well if you gotta be the ugly one (like Combs) in a split screen I guess I can see that.

good riddance

DoctorDentons on May 27, 2007 at 3:24 PM

In the final analysis, I really think Rosie turned out to be a huge plus (a plus-sized plus!) for conservatives. No, Hasselbeck isn’t exactly a stellar debater … but first hearing Rosie spew what lefty blogs belch up all day … and then making it clear how quickly lefties fold in the face of the slightest challenge to their brainwashing …

… well, the whole thing has really seemed like a textbook illustration of what is wrong with liberalism. I wish somebody had done a focus group to see what moderates and independents thought of her “performance.” I find it hard to believe she didn’t win the right side some votes.

Professor Blather on May 27, 2007 at 4:41 PM

Re: the Truthers -

I have an honest question: why is it that on issues of religion and faith and evolution, liberals shriek SCIENCE SCIENCE SCIENCE …

… yet on the issue of 9/11, they completely ignore the ginormous mountain of scientific evidence?

Seriously. How do you square that exactly? Any liberal trolls wanna take a stab at it?

Or, hey … what happened to “consensus science” that liberals love to bleat about when the preach their religion of global warming? The “consensus” regarding the 9/11 attacks among legitimate scientists is more than overwhelming - how come that whole consensus thingie is so persuasive with global warming, yet so easily ignored by the Truthers?

Just curious.

I guess what I really want is to catch one of these moonbat critters and dissect them to see what makes them tick. I don’t get it.

And the Professor on May 27, 2007 at 4:41 PM:

The principle feature of American liberalism is sanctimoniousness. By loudly denouncing all bad things-war and hunger and date rape-liberals testify to their own terrific goodness. More important, they promote themselves to membership in a self-selecting elite of those who care deeply about such things. It’s a kind of natural aristocracy, and the wonderful thing about this aristocracy is that you don’t have to be brave, smart, strong or even lucky to join it, you just have to be liberal.

Rosie was offended by the split screen because she took the name of the show literally: “The View” — singular — ROSIE’S view, or so she thought. How dare they imply that another point of view might be represented on the show?

My thought about why Charlie Sheen was rethinking the truthers, was I thought maybe he had found a new calling, like Scientology.

LOL! What color ribbon will they wear to represent how much they care about overweight, poorly-informed, loudmouth lesbians? (Or would it be to represent their opposition to the badness of slender, blonde, pregnant conservative television hosts?) The ribbon-wearing I-care-more-than-you crowd has to be into tertiary colors at least by now….

aero on May 27, 2007 at 5:48 PM

Except for Griffin being slightly more intelligent than Rosie, there’s little difference.

JimC on May 27, 2007 at 8:50 PM

Of course O’Donnel hates Elizabeth.

I am tired of O’Donnel lying and claiming that she loves Elizabeth, and that she considers Elizabeth a friend. O’Donnel does NOT love Elizabeth, and O’Donnel does not consider Elizabeth a friend. It is clear that she despise Hasselbeck, enjoys the roll of sadistic agitator, attacker, berator, and tormentor to Hasselbeck’s innocence, politeness, and consideration of others, yet O’Donnel’s fans paint Hasselbeck as mean and nasty, while painting O’Donnel as a little angel, Saint Agnes, calmly, patiently enduring unspeakable agony, the little martyr, when all along O’Donnel is the demonic one!

The world is rife with crazies and the crazies who follow them. The world is also rife with a news media which raises the bad to be the good, while painting the good as bad.

Go figure!

I assume someone already ventured in to this area but I’ll throw it out there anyway: “How else could they fit anyone on screen at the same time with Rosie if not for the split screen?” That’s all for me, you guys have been great.

someone as prideful and egotistical and selfcentered as Rosie? Surely you jest!

I mean isn’t this a given that rosie would strike out this way if she is all of those above? She has some serious needs to come to Jesus…about herself..but she can’t because she lives in immense sin and can’t seem to deal with it…she’s off her nut.

Highrise on May 28, 2007 at 3:44 AM

Let me make sure I understand this…

Rosie has an opportunity to expose, on national television, the greatest conspiracy since the moon landing; a.k.a. 9-11 “Truth”. But, she forgoes said opportunity because her feelings were hurt by a split screen.

…and EH is the coward here?

To coin a phrase, lol.

12thman on May 28, 2007 at 9:46 AM

I had no idea that the split screen is pure evil.

By the way, I am on dial up (I live in the boondocks) and would appreciate a link to a text version.

David on May 28, 2007 at 10:48 AM

Umm, ordi, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you missed DoctorDentons’ joke. He didn’t need a grammar lesson, it was a rude lesbian reference, dontcha know.

Freelancer on May 28, 2007 at 12:32 PM

My only thing is that doesn’t she have children? Isn’t one of them really young…3 or 4 maybe? So, she has time on her hands and instead of being with her children, she calls up a comedian to hang out with? Then goes to dinner, where the “mojitos were really flying”? On a Friday night? Sounds like they were in New Jersey, and she lives in New York…not so far away that she could go home, is it?

What’s with all this?

12thman on May 28, 2007 at 9:46 AM

Yes, Rosie is an absolute coward, when I first heard she decided to leave the View three weeks early the very first word that came to my mind was COWARD!

If she thought she was smacked down by EH she had to of been thinking about the upcoming “truther” debate and knew she was in store for “humiliations galore!” to quote Enigo Montoya from The Princess Bride.

It is my opinion Tokyo-Rosie knows deep down the 9-11 conspiracy BS the “truthers” espouse is utter non-sense and she only supports it because of the hate, anger, and resentment she harbors for some “wrong” she perceives that was done to her by the evil Bush administration, conservatives, or whomever else that does not support her beliefs, views, and agenda!

This is precisely why she left prior to the upcoming 9-11 conspiracy debate, she knew if she went through with the debate not only would she have looked foolish and been humiliated she would be exposed for the biased, hateful, and angry person she really is, not to mention it would have exposed her and the “blame America first” and “I hate America” agenda of the liberal apologists!

What makes her agenda and beliefs so difficult for me to swallow is how someone could hate a nation so much considering it was the very freedoms our nation provides that allows her to say what she wants, allows her to practice any religion she wants (even Scientology) allows her to be a lesbian without being stoned to death, and enabled her to become wealthy beyond most Americans wildest dreams!

Bottom line is Rosie is a coward, a disgrace, and is a hypocrite to the first degree! For her to place her own selfish and misguided hate, anger, and agenda above supporting our nation that has provided her the freedom to lead the blessed life she leads is so vile and disgusting to me (especially on this Memorial day weekend) it turns my stomach! It’s as if she is spitting on the graves of all the fallen heroes of the current war and all past wars that sacrificed themselves on the altar of freedom for her and all Americans!

If she and the liberal left continue to divide our country at this critical point in our history the next gig Tokyo-Rosie will have is for AlQaeda TV’s weekly “Stone the Apostate Show” where she will be the week’s guest of honor for being a lesbian…

I wish I could say good-riddance to her, but unfortunately I know she’ll be back….!! (shudder)
