With Rosie on her way out I guess there’s no reason for them to pretend they’re friends anymore. Here she is at her disingenuous worst, playing the “big, fat, lesbian” victim while deliberately twisting Hasselbeck’s point about the enemy in Iraq — namely, Al Qaeda — to accuse her of treating Iraqi civilians as the enemy. Or is it deliberate? The more I watch, the more I think she simply doesn’t know that Al Qaeda has a presence there. Hasselbeck should ask her at some point to describe the conflict right now as she understands it. Does she think we’re still fighting the Iraqi army, or just randomly attacking bands of civilians? That would go a long way towards explaining why she blames Bush for having killed 655,000 people while of course stridently insisting that she doesn’t think U.S. troops are terrorists — even though they’re the ones who are presumably guilty of doing the actual killing.
Hasselbeck challenges her on that point too, asking how can she say American soldiers aren’t terrorists when they’re the ones supposedly carrying out the Bushitler’s orders to liquidate Iraqis en masse. Rosie’s response: ignore the question and accuse Hasselbeck of being a bad friend for not mindlessly supporting her when she was criticized on Fox. Things deteriorate quickly from there, culminating in the two of them calling each other cowards.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this on broadcast TV. Be thankful I spared you the four-minute stump speech for Al Gore delivered by Behar that preceded it.

Update: They’re still friends but things are bound to be a little weird tomorrow, says Hasselbeck. Rosie claims she won’t be there tomorrow as it’s Kelli’s birthday. Which I guess means Truthermania is postponed.

Many on the left are of the opinion that 9/11 and any related terrorist acts are a law enforcement problem, and not for the military (kind of like Clinton treated all the terrorist attacks in the 90s – well, he did send a couple of tomahawks, but…). Soros is of that opinion, and he and other influential leftists are pushing the candidates in that direction (even if they were for the WOT before they were against it).

I usually never watch these since I assume Elizabeth isn’t equipped to argue with Unstable Mabel (especially with that brain dead studio audience), but I actually did check this one out. GO LIZ! That football analogy WAS dead on. I also really enjoyed Elizabeth’s finger pointing while Rosie kept trying to pull the “calm condescension” trip on her, but LIZ WASN’T GOING TO STAND FOR THAT ANYMORE.
Nice to see Liz stick it to that nasty wench now that she’s on her way out. I hope she gets one of those Popular Mechanics dudes on the show before Rosie says goodbye.

The answer to your question, Entelechy @ 2:38, is that the majority of the population does not soak itself in the facts of current political events. Thus to see a ‘average person say, that’s how I see things, that’s how I feel, without reference to the melting point of steel, or whatever other google-able facts, is extremely refreshing. I don’t think pundits are trying to create other pundits, so much as they try to get the message to resonate. That’s what Elisabeth represents.

Why can’t they bring someone on with as big a mouth as Rosie? She is truly one of the most evil human beings I’ve ever seen.
Setting aside the fact that the 650k figure is A TOTAL LIE, and the number is more like 1/10 of that, and setting aside the fact that it’s the enemy that are killing civilians while we lose people desperately trying not to…. the point is Rosie did basically say that the troops were the terrorists (again, because she’s blaming us for the deaths, and the troops are the ones who are there). The fact that she just shouts down Hasselbeck (as always) and doesn’t have to just go face to face with her own clip speaks volumes about her power on that show.
On H&C or O’Reilly when someone flip flops or makes an outrageous statement, if they have the balls to show up in studio, they’ll be shown their clip and given an opportunity to respond. Why can’t Elizabeth just say “let’s see the clip”, and say “Now Rosie, if you weren’t implying that the troops are the terrorists, what were you implying!?”

I do not know what the big deal is with The View. I don’t see the point in watching or listening to a show or radio program that is so anti-American and tries to censor opposing views. Maybe that is why it is called The View.

Watching the video reminded me of junior high school, when one of the prime sources of entertainment during the lunch hour was to wait for someone to shout, “Girl Fight!!! and then a crowd would gather to watch the two female gladiators du jour kicking, scratching, pulling hair and screaming.

Actually, I think people are giving her too much credit.
She was actually insinuating one of two things:
1) Our troops are terrorists, or 2)Terrorists are not terrorists
We don’t usually consider a position like 2) to be something a person would ever claim, as sane minds come to comprehend early in development that, say, ducks are ducks, and not rocks or elephants. But look at what we’re dealing with here. I’m not optimistic the Law of Contradiction plays a strong role in O’Donnell’s belief system.

Just to remind everyone: Iraq attacked America. They tried to assassinate Bush the elder with a car bomb in Kuwait. They shot 600 surface to air missiles at our jets patrolling the no fly zone. They put a bounty on our military people.
So, Rosie, how many hundreds of missiles must Iraq launch at us before it constitutes an attack?
And I might also point out that Iraqi agents met with the Sep 11 skyjackers in Prague and Kuala Lumpur. What was THAT about? Other than the Saudis, what country had any contact with the Sep 11 skyjackers?

rhetorical where Hasselbeck airquoted the hell out of rhetorical.
It was glorious in split screen. There’s a moment, as EH airquotes rhetorical, where EH shoots Rosie an eye dagger and Rosie literally blinks. And when Rosie opens her eyes they are a little bit dead.

Regardless of opinion on AC vs. AP, you ironically you did him a service there. AP is generally extremely precise with his words, which is one of the reasons his work is always a top read. That was loose, and deserved tightening up.
