Some of the Sunni states worried about Iran might be willing to contribute troops and establish a presence if we sweetened the pot for them somehow. But yeah, you’re not going to see any western armies contributing, needless to say.

Getting the UN involved? I doubt it very much. Bush might ask; that’s conceivable. But why would the UN have any interest in bailing us out? What member states might contribute troops?
