Wow, that is actually quite low. 6 years ago when I worked at a drug store in high school, the prices ranged from about $4.50 to $5.50 a pack. This was in New Jersey, mind you, so that was probably 99.999% tax.

It does work. I don’t smoke, but a pack of cigs here is about $3.00, and about 75% of that is pure tax. If the liberals wanted to end smoking, they’d push to outlaw the sale of tobacco, but they are addicted to the tax revenue.

As far as the gasoline tax, it hasnt gotten high enough yet to discourage anyone from driving.

Since smokers in states with high cigarette taxes are more inclined to look elsewhere for their fix, taxable sales are often lower than projected. It’s estimated that over $1 billion is lost in state tax revenues to Internet tobacco sales and trips across state lines.

In addition, when taxable sales are reduced, that can reduce the payments a state receives from the tobacco companies as a result of the Master Settlement Agreement, since those payments are tied to the level of a state’s cigarette sales.

Sounds like cigarette taxes are screwing the pooch to me.

This is no more clearly exemplified than by the words and behavior of the women on “The View,” in which they spew scientifically, factually inaccurate, and down right false statements regarding you name it, and all we hear is the panel agreeing with one another, all while the audience applauds their pabulum, but the lone, pretty conservative gets bullied, condescended to, insulted, etc., and the audience never applauds HER comments, only the bullies-liars, fascists on the panel.

The same holds true with the Bill Maher program “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Usually the panel is leftist, fifth column minded, they make the most hatefilled, condescending, arrogant, vindictive statements, and the audience applauds, like brain dead claques.
