Video: Taxes

posted at 11:45 am on May 22, 2007 by Bryan

Downside, it’s another Mac parody. Upside, it’s not for a church that’s trying too hard to be hip, and it’s pretty good. The site, ireagan, says more well-produced conservative video is on the way.

Blowback

Logic…to Liberals? It’ll never work. ;)

Nice!

43% on my OT & commissions. I’m lovin it!

VikingGoneWild on May 22, 2007 at 12:08 PM

Nice work… although that actor playing the liberal is way too clean-cut. He needs a few more layers of grime. And at the end he should get pissed off and call the other guy a fascist, at least.

Last fall Ohio voted both to ban smoking practically everywhere and tack on another cigarette tax to support the arts. So, buy cigarettes to support the arts, but don’t smoke ‘em.

How this elephant got in my pajamas smoking is related to the arts I’ll never know.

tickleddragon,

This is no more clearly exemplified than by the words and behavior of the women on “The View,” in which they spew scientifically, factually inaccurate, and down right false statements regarding you name it, and all we hear is the panel agreeing with one another, all while the audience applauds their pabulum, but the lone, pretty conservative gets bullied, condescended to, insulted, etc., and the audience never applauds HER comments, only the bullies-liars, fascists on the panel.

The same holds true with the Bill Maher program “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Usually the panel is leftist, fifth column minded, they make the most hatefilled, condescending, arrogant, vindictive statements, and the audience applauds, like brain dead claques.

Idiots!

He really missed the zinger though…

Sooo… you add a tax to people will smoke less…

Then why, if I make MORE money, do you take an even greater percentage?

Romeo13 on May 22, 2007 at 12:27 PM

Heh, fun little clip, but they need a better lib. Find a grimy white guy with dreds and a Che shirt.

Bad Candy on May 22, 2007 at 12:33 PM

He also missed the question about how to give tax cuts to those who pay no taxes, so that the next time a tax cut is proposed it won’t be attacked as only applying to “the rich”.

Freelancer on May 22, 2007 at 12:36 PM

Logic? They’re forgettin the “guilt” factor for liberals.

I hate this ‘look, my competitor is such a dumbass that I can film my commercial in front of nothing but a white background’ format so much that I’m about one and a half Mac commercials (or parodies) from punching my fist through the TV/monitor.

There really is no inconsistency in the liberal’s viewpoint. The reason he wants to tax gasoline and cigarettes is not to influence behavior but to increase revenue. Same reason income is taxed.

Labamigo on May 22, 2007 at 1:06 PM

The reason he wants to tax gasoline and cigarettes is not to influence behavior but to increase revenue.

Then why doesn’t it work?

http://money.cnn.com/2005/07/12/pf/taxes/cigarette_excise/

Since smokers in states with high cigarette taxes are more inclined to look elsewhere for their fix, taxable sales are often lower than projected. It’s estimated that over $1 billion is lost in state tax revenues to Internet tobacco sales and trips across state lines.

In addition, when taxable sales are reduced, that can reduce the payments a state receives from the tobacco companies as a result of the Master Settlement Agreement, since those payments are tied to the level of a state’s cigarette sales.

Sounds like cigarette taxes are screwing the pooch to me.

lorien1973 on May 22, 2007 at 1:17 PM

My thoughts are that liberals are not really as smart as they think they are when it comes to taxes. For example, I’m sure you will agree that say a shoe horn would be a taxable product. But they,(the Libs) are missing out on extra tax revenue by not having a separate tax on each. A COMBINATION TAX. It’s simple and goes like this. Purchase a shoe horn, and have one tax for the shoe and one tax for the horn. See, double the revenue. The possibilities could be endless. Take baseball. Base tax, ball tax. Band-Aids. Band tax, Aides tax. Are you with me people? Wow, I never thought being a stupid liberal could be so easy. You all ought to try this…..

soulsirkus on May 22, 2007 at 1:41 PM

There should be a tax on all registered Democrats and such a bill should pass easily. This way we’ll know they’re all genuine.

Editor on May 22, 2007 at 1:59 PM

Well, Democrats certainly are taxing.

James on May 22, 2007 at 2:01 PM

And with the Death Tax, everyone will want to live longer!

see-dubya on May 22, 2007 at 3:19 PM

Liberals can clean and articulate.

Joe Biden says so.

Just observe the magic so and so….

It does work. I don’t smoke, but a pack of cigs here is about $3.00, and about 75% of that is pure tax. If the liberals wanted to end smoking, they’d push to outlaw the sale of tobacco, but they are addicted to the tax revenue.

As far as the gasoline tax, it hasnt gotten high enough yet to discourage anyone from driving.

Labamigo on May 22, 2007 at 4:37 PM

Maybe we should tax a woman’s right to choose (abortions) so that the government will have plenty of money to pay for its vast conspiracy programs and inside jobs like 9/11 and such.

Oh yeah, but then there’s that whole logic thing again.
Too bad.

/sarcasm off

CyberCipher on May 22, 2007 at 8:31 PM

a pack of cigs here is about $3.00

Wow, that is actually quite low. 6 years ago when I worked at a drug store in high school, the prices ranged from about $4.50 to $5.50 a pack. This was in New Jersey, mind you, so that was probably 99.999% tax.

Don’t forget our pending stripper law. I have proposed the amendment that all 2 for 1 lapdances actually run the length of both songs, and that those songs be “Atomic Dog” and “Alice’s Restaurant”.

Nice

jdsmith0021 on May 22, 2007 at 10:21 PM

Too clever by far. It needs to be leaner and meaner.
