Video: Rosie curses Fox News, insults Elisabeth, calls Carter “Christ-like”

An instant classic, destined to be chosen for audio commentary on the inevitable DVD box set. In the span of about eight minutes (whittled here to 4:30), big Ro compares peanut farmer turned terrorist apologist Jimmy Carter to the Christian messiah, comes to the brink of tears in defending herself from criticism by those $@#%s at Fox News, reiterates that she doesn’t want any more American soldiers in Iraq to die “at the hands of a Republican administration,” and angrily insists that she’s not accusing U.S. troops of terrorism — although, with hundreds of thousands of Iraqis allegedly dead, clearly someone’s been terrorizing them. Then, when Elisabeth tries to probe her a bit on the last point, she accuses her of being stupid, driving her to the brink of tears.

Barbara finally wades in to provide clarity, distinguishing “terrorists” from “jihadists,” the latter of whom, she says, aren’t necessarily Muslim. Awesome.

Exit question: Anyone able to read Rosie’s lips during the bleeped part? I can’t make heads or tails of it.

Update: According to Watching the View, it’s “no matter what you say on your sh***y cable news shows…”

Update: Ah, the crankiness explained.

Was Carter’s first miracle turning water into Billy Beer?

Bad Candy on May 21, 2007 at 4:34 PM

Actually, to my way of remembering it, I think it was turning water into whine.

Citizen Duck on May 21, 2007 at 4:39 PM

I’d give Rosy to the terrorists/jihadists, but they can’t deal with pigs.

It was because he smote the killer rabbit!

deadbackpacker on May 21, 2007 at 4:40 PM

Notice how Elisabeth tries to make eye contact with Rosie when speaking, and how Rosie looks everywhere except the person she is addressing? Classy.

Also, check out the guns on Rosie. What’s she benching these days?

no matter what you say on your shitty cable news shows, I–that’s the truth.

Valiant on May 21, 2007 at 4:42 PM

I seriously want rosie to stay. She is making a very good case of why we need a republican president to keep the democratic nuts in check.

Why doesnt the RNC play up the connection between the nutroots and the dems ? Its a killer issue and makes them look like extremists.

William Amos on May 21, 2007 at 4:43 PM

thats not muscle, thats flab! she is bench pressing crates of twinkies!

I thought she wasn’t going to talk about this anymore.

It looks like the first thing she says might be either “Bush-Hitler” or “bulls***”, other than that I can’t tell.

It’s hard to lip-read nonsense.

why hasn’t the Admin or any of the Top RNC candidates put out a web video debunking Ron Paul and Rosie’s claims of why they attack us, they can start with Bin Ladens fatwa and go back to the prophet.

I went to Valiant’s link and the commenters are truly frightning people.

Quisp on May 21, 2007 at 4:55 PM

Christ-like? Hm, not the first word I think of when I think of Jimmy Carter.

Elisabeth is getting better and better, more assertive. (Judging wholly on the clips, never seen the show)

Spirit of 1776 on May 21, 2007 at 4:56 PM

re: Barbara’s reference to all those “non-Muslim jihadists.” At first bluff that seems ridiculous, but when you take into account Soros, Kos, and all their minions, it starts to make sense. I’m not sure what she actually meant, but that’s what I drew from it.

tikvah on May 21, 2007 at 4:56 PM

Ro says Fox News distorts what she says - interesting, given that she does a pretty good job of distorting facts herself (9/11, number of Iraqis killed, who the “terrorists” are etc.). This show has gotten completely out of control. It’s really sad that these “distorted” “View[s]” are being given so much exposure - however, what’s even sadder is The View audience applauding for Ro as if she’s their hero (the one “speaking truth to power”).

Rick on May 21, 2007 at 4:57 PM

How come the poor soldiers can’t get health care when they come back? Are they re-entering the country legally? ‘Cuz everyone knows that’s stoopid.

NellE on May 21, 2007 at 4:57 PM

Hey, I’m proud of EH showing some spine and the crowd hissing Ro for her personal attacks.

Malpaso on May 21, 2007 at 4:58 PM

Rosie is off the deep end, there’s no doubt, but who in the hell is appaulding her in the audience? How in the world do they gather so many unhinged people in one place? I wonder if they’re being paid to cheer the oafish one.

darwin on May 21, 2007 at 5:00 PM

Barbara sounds like my grandmother trying to explain the workings of the space shuttle…..

d1carter on May 21, 2007 at 5:01 PM

Well, I got through to about 1:05 before I had to shut it down. I just can’t stand Rosie and these women shouting over each other… blech!

CliffHanger on May 21, 2007 at 5:01 PM

Someone there has a sick sense of humor, constantly dressing up that lovely creature in white, angelic attire, and then seating her next to fat, nasty, ugly, brainless Rosie, apparently for contrast.

It’s like type-casting gone mad.

I refuse to go to the Fever Swamps, but I suspect that they must just fume over there about the way their heroine is cast as a Pig-Devil.

Jaibones on May 21, 2007 at 5:02 PM

BabaWawa: “But that does not mean that there is a whole body of jihadists, not necessarily muslim, you cannot say that, of whose life and death is wiping out the west.”

Has she always been this stupid? Or is this a new development?

greggish on May 21, 2007 at 5:02 PM

We can settle all of this by taking from the Joy Behar template for resolving differences. Bring in one expert to represent each side of the argument.

We will need one expert on dumbass fat cows with their head up their arse, and one expert on well informed hot blond babes.

Intelligence, reason, manners, values and good are indignant.

Barbara is the biggest idiot in this ’show’, right after the audience.

p.s. Elisabeth looks like Schneewittchen (snow white). Not a compliment.

Entelechy on May 21, 2007 at 5:08 PM

Around the country, college profs are taping the view to add Rosie’s impeccable logic to the next days indoctrination curriculum. Meanwhile, HA bloggers stare in disbelief and horror at the Michael Moore in drag look a-like try and distinguish the difference terrorist and American troops. Babba Wawa attempts to define Jihadist as not necessary Muslims who want to destroy the west.

As I said, reams of material for the next days curriculum… ◙

At least Elisabeth got a shout out to H&C! ☺

Something about sheite?

Video: Rosie…calls Carter “Christ-like”

What, she’s calling Jesus an anti-Semite? But, he was a Semite.

ReubenJCogburn on May 21, 2007 at 5:15 PM

Wow Allah….you did it.

I actually feel sorry for Ron Paul, now that the Rotund Oracle has sealed his demise.

omnipotent on May 21, 2007 at 5:17 PM

I see Rosie is already promoting Michael Moore’s new film.

Did anyone think her defense made any sense? Seems to me she was just taken at her word, but I didn’t see the earlier outburst Fox was responding to.

John on May 21, 2007 at 5:17 PM

Hahaha - Let’s see, Rosie has said Fundamentalist Christians are as dangerous as Muslim jihadists. She is anti-religion as best I can tell. Yet for someone who slams Christians she is obviously an expert and has completed a deep study of Jesus Christ to declare Jimmah the most Christ-like President in our history. Of course to make a flippant statement like that is another slam on the Christians and shows no realization about how frivolous her statement is. BTW Rosie, devout Christian presidents: George Washington and John Adams. Google ‘em.

Meanwhile, Big Ro makes an emotional clarification about how much she supports the troops, and then 2 minutes later tells EH that our troops are killing pregnant Iraqi women and keeps promoting the absurd total of 650,000 deaths by our soldiers.

Rosie needs to go hang upside down in her sling for a while to get some blood back into her brain.

Mallard T. Drake on May 21, 2007 at 5:17 PM

Hey…there’s people there clapping for Hannity & Colmes!

I guess they clap at every pronouncement over there…not just the far left ones spouted by Rosie.

asc85 on May 21, 2007 at 5:20 PM

Carter is the most Christ-like…

When coming from Rosie, knowing her view of Christianity, is that a compliment or an insult?

taznar on May 21, 2007 at 5:24 PM

In defence of Baba Wawa, I think she meant that not all Muslims are Jihadists, not that Jihadists arent’t necessarily Muslim.

Once again, I’m disappointed in Elizabeth for not going for Rosie’s throat (figuratively, of course - though I would have enjoyed seeing that literally). When she talked about he news shows she watches, she should have told Rosie, “I don’t get all my news from conspiracy sites, like you.”

Damian P. on May 21, 2007 at 5:26 PM

Rosie accusing Fox News of twisting what she says? You can cut the irony with a knife!

JinxMcHue on May 21, 2007 at 5:31 PM

Elizabeth is getting really good at this… She was ready to blast Rosie with “what’s the answer to your question?” Who are the terrorists? Rosie had no answer…..she looked like a fool and Elizabeth looked quite intelligent. I think Elizabeth has been studying Rosie, and can predict exactly what she is going to say. Which, I’ll admit isn’t rocket science.

jjjen on May 21, 2007 at 5:32 PM

I could actually feel myself getting dumber from watching that. These stupid yentas have no business talking about politics. They are all mental midgets (including Elisabeth).

Exactly jjjen, Elizabeth did a good job of backing her into a corner there and Rosie was forced to go for the “stupid” angle.

Dash on May 21, 2007 at 5:40 PM

This is the kind of “debate” I’d expect to see in a junior high school. The fact that people actually watch this (other than Allah, for comedy material of course) is disturbing. rosie and elisabeth try to out-dumb each other, then baba comes in with hyper PC BS “not all jihadists are muslim”. Um, like 99.9% are baba. Really, these are children trying to talk about grown-up stuff.

Jihadists are not Muslim.

America is terrorizing Americans by calling terrorists “terrorists.”

Shovelful by shovelful, the View chicks dig their Big Stupid Hole deeper. They are well on their way to China.

Because that’s waaaaaaaay too easy.

In defence of Baba Wawa, I think she meant that not all Muslims are Jihadists, not that Jihadists arent’t necessarily Muslim.

I certainly hope that’s what she meant.

As for Elizabeth, she’s a cutie and all, but she needs to go ahead and retire after this next baby. Her claim to fame is being on Survivor - not for being a political intellectual. it’s really too bad there isn’t a stronger conservative voice on that show. But then again, what do you expect from the MSM?

pullingmyhairout on May 21, 2007 at 5:54 PM

The audience is even more obtuse.

The audience is just a bunch of sheeple. They watch the teleprompter and clap when it tells them to. I have to wonder about such people…

Aside from O’Donnel’s comments, her condescension toward, and beratement of Hasselbeck, and her claques in Joy Behar and Baba Wawa, the sound of the audience applauding her brian dead comments sends me off the wall!

Can someone please tell me, do they recruit these audience members from Kos Kids, or from MoveOn.org, International A.N.S.W.E.R, or Anti-War .com?

Where do they get these claques?

William2006 on May 21, 2007 at 7:49 PM

What’s the time in the video at which rosie calls my beloved Elizabeth stupid? I’m not watching all that.

Darth Executor on May 21, 2007 at 7:58 PM

I agree. Felt much much stupider after watching that.

Rosie: #1 Pushing vicious Leftie bet that Americans do not know our own Constitution. Our soldiers do not go willy-nilly off to invade countries. Our CONGRESS sends them to carry out the WILL OF CONGRESS which represents the WILL OF THE PEOPLE. By this, Congress gives the EXECUTIVE Branch the funding and okay to administer the means to war, thus the reason the President is the COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF of the military. It is a favorite libel and slander of the Left and Hollywood to portray the military as led by war-happy rogue generals who create artificial conflicts to run wild over people.
Where’s the history of this military behavior Rosie? Did our military fabricate World War I, or pretend a kerfluffel for World War II, orchastrate a fraudulent invasion of Korea for the Korean War, make out of whole cloth the communist insurgency of Vietnam? This military wild-boy is a Hollywood Hard Left construct that exists only on the tarnished silver screen, and old Soviet Propanganda pieces.
If our troops are anywhere in the world, Rosie, go yell and froth at Congress - the ones who voted to send them there. Notice how she didn’t mention the Balkans? She’d have to put that at Clinton’s feet, wouldn’t she?
#2 Elizabeth actually showed some spine. She’s doing some homework and it’s showing.
Please, dear Elizabeth, stick a fork into that overcooked potato of a statistic that 100s of thousands of Iraqis have died. Rosie says it all the time - smack her on it.
Go ahead Elizabeth, stand firm, hammer the facts until Rosie calls you a blonde bimbo - she’s only barely pulled herself off that precipice several times now, and even in her fever, she knows it’ll be the real end of her. Carry in your pocket at all times the GDP, GNP of Iraq, before and after, the birth rate, the infant mortalities (per 100 live births), the vaccination rates for under five population, the number of children boys and girls in school before and after, the % of domiciles with electrification. Use the United Nations Statistics - they are all there, free for the perusal. Then Rosie is in a bind - question the U.N.? She’ll be calling you nasties things and the audience won’t go for it…
Some reporter Barbara Walters was, for someone who was touted as such a professional to see what she don’t know after all these years and who she had access to (compared to us nobodies) is pathetic.

naliaka on May 21, 2007 at 8:03 PM

I think Elizabeth did a great job! And, I’m a woman who desn’t have a crush on her. Anyway, EH accurately quoted what the rotund one said (which I could tell suprised RO)Ro had absolutely no response because she couldn’t believe that her own castmate wasn’t supporting her stupidity and was giving her up. EH tried again to get her to answer, “okay who are the terrorist you are referring to?”. So what does RO do instead of answer? she insults EH who didn’t respond in kind. Both Rosie and Babawawa looked stupid. I’m sure Baba can’t wait to get RO off the show so she can finish a sentence once in a while. The minute someone starts to win the point RO cuts them off by shouting them down.

CCRWM on May 21, 2007 at 8:06 PM

Add the number of schools our superb military has built for the Iraqis since the overthrow of the despicable Saddam. And the millions of dollars of money that our lowly paid soldiers found by accident and have plowed back into neighborhood development projects like new water systems, repairs of old systems, sewer systems (think improved health and fewer water-borne diseases) and schools for the Iraqis - with the simple explanation that “It’s their money, they should be able to beenfit from it.”

Contrast that with the Hollywood version of soldiers who stumble over money: think George Clooney.

naliaka on May 21, 2007 at 8:12 PM

I work for a huge nationwide healthcare organization (not naming names, K?), and my work has taken me to pretty much every department in almost every one of their facilities in Southern California. Every morning from 10 to 11, in every department, every waiting room TV is tuned in to The View, and the patients sitting there are glued to the tube as Rosie spouts her looney left-wing paranoid propaganda. It literally makes me sick to see all these people soaking up this filth like it’s the Gospel truth.

infidel4life on May 21, 2007 at 8:12 PM

This show is like a train wreck in a bomb factory; I love these moment. However I bet the entire cast cannot wait until the “Rotund Oracle’s” contract is up.

liquidflorian on May 21, 2007 at 8:19 PM

I think Barbara actually was trying to support Elizabeth and point out Rosie is over the top. Surprisingly, she was not eloquoent at all and couldn’t seem to get her point across. Somehow all the camera time gravitates towards Rosie’s yelling. It is like the cameraman can’t escape Rosie’s gravity. Apart from what opinions any of them holds, none of the other polite women seems to know how to deal with Rosie’s boisterous nature.

Why in the world does anyone listen to this fat turd? She has nothing to say but loads of crap. I do not understand why everyone gets so upset with her. She is not relevant to anything going on in America or the world. Flush her and forget her!!

NEMETI IN SYRACUSE on May 21, 2007 at 8:38 PM

I’m not going to go out on the HuffPo commenter limb, but let’s just say that I wouldn’t be sad if something bad were to happen to Rosie, and leave it at that.

Her lies and how she dominates on that show is infuriating. Hasselbeck at least seems to be trying a little harder to hold her own, but she’s still really not up to the task, if she were she would have said “would you shut up for a minute!” (If it were me it would have been much worse, but she should at least be able to say that).

Bottom line, Rosie is a despicable human being. She really is a disgrace, and as much as I’m not supposed to, I hate her.

RightWinged on May 21, 2007 at 9:23 PM

Hey,
Rosie shows up with crib sheets, so can Elizabeth. It’s not rocket science, just show prep, using hard core stats from sources that Rosie would normally support (U.N.). ELizabeth then isn’t compelled to memorize - it’s hard to pull this off in front of the cameras - so print it out, write it down, pull it out at the opportune moments. There seem to be many, many opportune moments. The View panel is in dire need of real facts as is their audience. “Public service” comes to mind.

naliaka on May 21, 2007 at 9:42 PM

On the audience - consider that these shows are pretty much live at the time they are broadcast on the East coast. This means people in the audience who are not otherwise gainfully employed who have the time to go down, wait in line, and then get into a studio audience. How could anyone expect such a group to skew anything other than leftward?

Mibrilane on May 21, 2007 at 9:54 PM

Well I got in late, go figure. The end of my service was during Carter. Between the dems and him the cong was nothing(almost) Carter dang near destroyed all that we stood for. It is unclear to me what this fat lesbian vampire bat thinks she is going to accomplish with this kind of stupidity. Who is going to give her a forum to spout this insanity? The price is Right? I don’t think Bob Barker put 35 years into that show just to watch Roise O Fat Piggo turn it into “The Truthers are Right!”.

I was proud of Hasselback today. It sounds like EH did her homework, goaded Rosie into spouting off (not that it takes much to set that loon off into orbit), and then bashed her with some facts. And of course, Fatso’s responce? Insult Elizebeth. What a classless clown Roise the Hog is.

Put Michelle in there and Rosie would be the next story line on ER.

She was ready to blast Rosie with “what’s the answer to your question?” Who are the terrorists? Rosie had no answer.

But she didn’t close the deal. She needed to stay on her like this:

Rosie, you asked the question “who are the terrorists”, and you’re claiming that some people put words in your mouth. If that isn’t what you meant, what did you mean?

Then when she rambled and hemmed and hawed, Elizabeth should have repeated the question: If that isn’t what you meant, what did you mean?

And just keep repeating the same 10 words.

If… that… isn’t… what… you… meant… what… did… you… mean?

But she’s not as bitchy as Rosie, so she probably can’t do it.

For those of us who are not “in the loop” about Guardian’s comings and goings, perhaps someone could fill us in. If Guardian has just returned from serving our country, please give us a heads-up so we have a chance to say thank you before you assume we know and are simply rude or ungrateful.

Well, Carter turned the other cheek when Iran took our Embassy.

For 444 days.

He turned the other cheek and America got hit in the jaw with a brick.
