That was his second choice for his explanation of his IWR vote.

It’s interesting to watch politicians in these situations. You could see he was kinda pissed it was brought up but held it until he could read the audiences reaction… then went with it in a lighthearted rehearsed response when he heard them chuckling.

I take full responsibility for my Supercut.
$12 – Including a $3 Tip.
JayHaw Phrenzie on May 21, 2007 at 7:59 PM
Funny, same thing as with his moral compass, Kos is in chare of that.
bbz123 on May 21, 2007 at 8:00 PM
I was for a four-hundred dollar haircut before I was against it.
It might be interesting to juxtapose that denial with the video of him primping on camera. Then try telling me that man doesn’t care where he gets his hair cut.
see-dubya on May 21, 2007 at 8:05 PM
Umm He isnt involved in getting his own hair done ? Does he have a wig that he just sends outb ?
OT/ Biden now says its important for the US to pay back dues to the UN.
I say let John Edwards pay it

See, there’s two Americas. One, which gets $400 haircuts in a swanky salon, and another which gets an $11 haircut down at the local barber shop.
amerpundit on May 21, 2007 at 8:12 PM
Is it me or does he look really high here

Pitiful.

I think he’s changed more than his hair. Has anyone noticed the disappearing mole?
rivlax on May 21, 2007 at 8:27 PM
Anyone that pays more than nothing to get their hair cut is getting ripped off.
Buy some electronic clippers and lock yourself in the bathroom until the job is done.
Nonfactor on May 21, 2007 at 8:29 PM
The whole point here is he is an elitist snob for getting $400 haircuts. His awnser is very stupid politically because admitting you have handlers for this type of thing and can’t walk into a barber shop is more elitist then a high price tag by an order of magnitute.
Resolute on May 21, 2007 at 8:30 PM
Not quite right.
There are two Americas:
One which gets 400$ haircuts.
the other, which ridicules those who get 400$ haircuts.
billy on May 21, 2007 at 8:31 PM
No haircut is worth $400 unless it includes a happy ending.

ReubenJCogburn on May 21, 2007 at 9:04 PM
Heh.
I say no happy ending is worth $400 unless it comes with a haircut!
BacaDog on May 21, 2007 at 9:53 PM
“Only his hairdresser knows for sure.” Haha.

Hmmm, yes. Good link. I was also impressed with the difference in the eyes between the photos.
before) fresh faced wholesome image
after) Jaded cynical opportunist thinly disguised behind aging Ken Doll looks.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
4shoes on May 21, 2007 at 10:31 PM
What is worse…..
A guy who admits he gets $400 haircuts….
or
The guy who gets $400 haircuts, but tells everyone he pays $15 in order to create an image for himself?
csdeven on May 21, 2007 at 10:49 PM
What an idiot. That he ‘wasn’t aware’ of the arrangements made for his haircuts tell us all we nee to know about what he’d do in office if caught doing something stupid:
“Somebody else arranged it …”
I personally think if John Edwards is so concerned about the poor he should take each one of them out and get them a $400 hair cut. Where’s your compassion, Senator?
SisterToldjah on May 21, 2007 at 11:42 PM
Someone else arranges my ridiculous haircuts…oh yeah. This is prime presidential material here. Real ‘buck stops here’ mentality. He won’t even take credit for a haircut; can you imagine trying to nail him down on a course of action on something important? Man, I thought we had the lamest bunch of a$$clown candidates on our side. Then again, haircut investigations and outraged speeches about grooming costs is about the most serious thing I would trust those turdballs in Congress with.
austinnelly on May 22, 2007 at 12:04 AM
And some people will actually vote for a moron who can’t even be trusted to “arrange” his own hair cut. Didn’t Bill Clinton once shut down an airport on the left coast for hours while some famous hair stylist came to Air Force One and gave him a trim?
Buzzy on May 22, 2007 at 12:25 AM
Silky can’t take responsibility for anything. He always gets advise on what course of action to take. And that apparently includes getting $400 dollar haircuts, voting for the war, his home energy consumption, and hiring (and subsequently firing) the two fem-bigot bloggers. This is so, even if his “gut feeling” tells him otherwise (and according to him, that always seems to happen).
Rick on May 22, 2007 at 1:12 AM
ahhh yet another richie that lets everyone do that for them. Does he do anything for him and his family? His staff even stood in line at walmart to get a video game.
Highrise on May 22, 2007 at 2:32 AM
He let someone else arrange a $400 haircut and didn’t protest…think of all the other ways he could have used $370 for his campaign, or anything else, really.
emmaline1138 on May 22, 2007 at 3:22 AM
He sure looks purdy, and he’s got a purdy mouth.
Queue banjo…… and Burt Reynolds

These rich, snob, elitist people who pay $400 for a haircut are the same ones who use illegal aliens to cut their grass for $4.
Is that why they want to unleash 20 million more illegals in this country? Maybe some of them can cut hair in addition to cutting grass.
OBX Pete on May 22, 2007 at 4:42 AM
Paying $400 for a haircut is a status symbol. Fox and Friends brought in two stylists a couple weeks ago. One charges $350 for a cut and the other charged $30. One cut Doocy’s hair, the other cut Kilmeade’s. There wasn’t one iota of difference between the two except one got his hair cut by a flaming sissy-mary and could drop that name at liberal cocktail parties.
csdeven on May 22, 2007 at 8:10 AM
I personally could care less what he pays for his haircut. He can do whatever he wants, he can afford it. What I do have a problem with is that these liberals turn around and lie or make the most assinine excuses. For example, remember during the blackouts or the north-east. Hillary comes out publicly and says that the lights were off at her house too. Problem was, she lied! She had a backup generator running. It is perfectly acceptable for her to have a generator, but why lie over such an insignificant thing just to score political points. And why people don’t see this as an indication of how fake they really are is beyond me.
indianaconservative on May 22, 2007 at 8:16 AM
If we think a $400.00 haircut is an outrage, wait til we find out he pays $600.00 for his pedicures….sissy boy!
soulsirkus on May 22, 2007 at 8:47 AM
Silky is looking a little frayed at the edges, isn’t he? Can we start calling him “Segolene” now? See, you had to think back didn’t you? That’s my point.
drunyan8315 on May 22, 2007 at 9:06 AM
My wife has since hidden my clippers and forbidden me to do that again, but I’m with you.
I’m guessing Edwards has a full-time staff of four assigned to his hair.
saint kansas on May 22, 2007 at 9:11 AM
Instinct is to joke about this, but I gotta say: I work with low character douches in the business world every day, who will blame “their secretary” or “administrative assistant” or anyone else not in the room when they eff up something important.
This is an indication that he is gutless, and of low character, generally. But we already knew both things.
Jaibones on May 22, 2007 at 9:33 AM
He wasn’t going to pay for it until he got caught. The people who donated to the Edwards campaign paid for it unknowingly. Plus I do think that any man who gets a $400 haircut at the Pink Saphire is not really a man. This is also very damaging to him. That is why he is inclined to lie about it and pass the buck. And you are right, it is an indication of how fake he is. That is why it is so damaging to him. Not to mention he gets his haircuts at the PINK SAPHHIRE!!!!

…but she can’t take away your razor.
Just sayin’…
James on May 22, 2007 at 10:03 AM
I paid $85 for my last haircut, at a medium-high end salon in downtown Oslo. This was actually a mistake, as I thought it was going to be around $65. Apparently the salon has new owners and the prices went up since the last time. The “SuperCuts” price around here is about $30. You know, if you’re going to let Abdul Aziz put a razor to your head and call it a haircut – $30.
If I go to the trendiest salons in Oslo, it would cost around $100 to get my hair cut. $100. In Oslo, one of the most expensive cities in the world. Does anyone see Boston (Manchester?) with its Pink Sapphire on that list? Hmmm?
Ridiculous.

I say we start a fund to raise money to buy Silky Pony a flowbee.

“I wasn’t involved in it. But I’m the guy on top, so ultimately I’m responsible for it.”
Good grief. This ambulance chaser wants us to trust him with the world’s sole superpower.
Sorta yes, sorta no. First, it was LAX, second, it didn’t shut down the entire airport, just two of the four runways, which are always closed off during an Air Force One visit. The arrival of Cristophe to cut Clinton’s hair caused an extra delay of 20 minutes. There were very minor impacts on air traffic.
So, in a reversal of CBS’s Memogate pattern, the commonly told story is true but inaccurate.
Bullseye. Exactly what I thought. The guy micromanages his makeup artist before an appearance, and let’s others decide who will cut his hair? Not a chance.
