[...] Yeah, I wrote about it six weeks ago. We’re on an unofficial timetable no matter what happens in Congress so expect plenty more of this over the next 10 weeks. It’s a cycle of emboldenment! Sunni extremists are likely to try a series of high-profile attacks to grab the headlines ahead of a watershed report to Congress in September on political and military progress in Iraq, the top U.S. commander said Saturday.
[...] There’s been a lot of bad mojo about the JAM and southern Iraq in the news lately, from that questionable Guardian piece about Iran inciting the militias as part of its own “summer surge” to the long AP story about Sadr trying to consolidate power in advance of a U.S. withdrawal to the excellent Guardian report about Shiite militia dominance in Basra. If this wasn’t a coincidence, then the British and Maliki are either sending a message to Sadr and his southern capos that they can still make their lives tough if need be or else they’re trying to blast some of his ducks before he can get them in a row and make whatever move he’s planning to make. Gen. Odierno told WaPo that he thinks Sadr came back partly because there are “cracks” in the Mahdi Army that need repairing; officials who spoke to the Times say the same. So now they’ve created another big crack for him to fill before the local chapter splinters and the infighting to fill the power vacuum begins. Don’t be surprised in the next few weeks if other local JAM commanders decide to “resist arrest” and suffer the consequences. [...]

What's Iran's code name for this operation? The Tet Offensive?

Expect to see a lot of air travel from Tehran back and forth to Ho Chi Minh City to get last minutes tips on how to conduct this opreation.

Its all about taking our ability to make any change in PAKISTAN possible.

The Jihadists are on the move there, and if they can come to power there, they gain a nuclear arsenal WITH a delivery capability.

Lets see, Phillipines, Malyasia, India, Iraq, Afaganistan, Britain, France, Spain... one way to keep you enemy from seeing your main goal is to advance on other fronts.

Well, AllahPagan, you should know by now that both the Guardian and the Telegraph have been leaning heavily towards "news stories" which are essentially predictions: They foretell the Future, then round up some quotes to dress the Pig up as a legit story

British Journalism 101........and they're usually wrong, or else glib and vague enough to cover most Potentialities

RR often used the most left wing outfits to air the info they wanted out there. It's not really news to any of us so tipping the news sources we go to would be ignored/missed by most and highly suspect to others.

Kinda on/off topic...
Did anyone else hear what Colmes said to our past US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton? After some long Iran nuke discussion on how Europe has been trying to talk to Iran for years w/ zero result, Colmes just kept saying " but we have to talk to them", like a 4 year old ad nauseum "we haven't ever just talked to them" over and over.
It was clear and plain for anyone to know that many had talked to Iran for 20 years, for the betterment of the world and Iran wants nukes, period.
So Bolton asked Colmes something like "what do you say about that?"
Alan after 5 minutes or so, after 'Hannity's turn w/Bolton' said:
<strong>" Well I wouldn't have Europe do our dirty work or diplomacy work for us, to answer your question" </strong> THEN Alan cut the segment and went to commercial before anyone had a chance to say anything else.
It was the single most disrespectful thing I've seen from this narcissistic boob, alan colmes.
Colmes should be fired for that, IMHO. Go sit w/Tehran Rosie.

Someone with the honor and integrity that I've seen from Bolton, doing one of the most difficult jobs in the world, FOR the world, and the US... and some slime bucket like Colmes questions his integrity?

Is it me? Or was that the worst?

<blockquote>Guardian: U.S. expecting Iran/AQ summer surge to try to force Iraq withdrawal</blockquote>

I for one am shocked at that notion! You mean the enemy would react to the promises of surrender from the Democrats!? It's almost as if people who've been talking about such a self fulfilling prophecy all along, were right!

The summer?

You mean the season people spend the least amount of time in front of the TV? By July the country will be more well informed on Fantastic Four 3: Galactus Chronicles and what Optimus Prime looks like than what AQ is doing. Jihadis are stupid.

I think Bush realizes that Iraq cant hold. I think he wants to do as much damage to the Jihadists before we leave as we can.

Bush just needs time. I hope he gets till September.

If we get Osama that could turn the poll numbers around. That would remove a big complaint by the dems and give Bush a bounce. I think Bush needs to start using the stick more with Pakistan. Musharif is under alot of attacks at home and if we root out the islamics helps both sides. Just a few SF guys and the WOT can take a big turn.
