Daltry, Geldof slam Goreapallooza

Not everyone wants to be music minister to the religion of Greenpeace.
THE WHO’s ROGER DALTRY has blasted the big Wembley gig Gore is organising to raise awareness of global warming.
The huge concert – which features performances from the likes of MADONNA and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS – is taking place at Wembley on July 7 and in other countries around the world.
But Roger, who played with U2 at Live Aid and Live8, reckons the whole thing is a waste of time.
Speaking exclusively to Bizarre, Roger said: “Bo***cks to that! The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert.
“I can’t believe it. Let’s burn even more fuel.
“We have problems with global warming, but the questions and the answers are so huge I don’t know what a rock concert’s ever going to do to help.
“Everybody on this planet at the moment, unless they are living in the deepest rainforest in Brazil, knows about climate change.”
And Geldof, who organized Live Aid and Live 8:
Last week the Live Aid hero lashed out, saying: “Why is Gore actually organising them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect?
*“Everybody’s known about that problem for years. We are all f***ing conscious of global warming.”
Meanwhile, the Green Inquisition may have helped kill the whale, and one of its patron saints may be responsible for the preventable deaths of 800,000 children per year.

I need a new keyboard that can spell!

You know..this brings up a point I’ve been making for YEARS. On the subject of any sort of “awareness” campaign.
Global Warming, AIDS, Darfur, Breast Cancer, Rain Forest deforestation, whales, etc… I’m sick and darn tired of having people bombard me with “awareness” campaigns. I’m quite aware of all these things without a ribbon, a song or a concert, thanks.
tickleddragon on May 21, 2007 at 2:35 PM
Global swarming will not help Global warming. But I think this will help Al in his Presidential bid. Too bad non-citizens
can’t votedon’t pollute. BTW, what kind of a swear word is “Bo***cks”? Must be an English thing.bloggless on May 21, 2007 at 2:35 PM
DPRVI – Are you using Firefox? If so, go to Preferences -> Advanced, then check the box for “Check my spelling as I type.” Should help.

Can we just have an Idiocy Awareness ribbon?
tickleddragon on May 21, 2007 at 2:36 PM
Not sure why bollocks is done that way. It’s equivalent here is “balls”. But then, “bloody” is a curse wood there.
Go figure.
tickleddragon on May 21, 2007 at 2:37 PM
I like the idea of an “Idiocy Awareness” campaign. What color ribbon should we use?
bloggless on May 21, 2007 at 2:38 PM
I wish the Goracle would buy me a hybrid. I’d drive it! Save ne some gas money. We shouldn’t question the Goracle or hill burn our eyes out with his laser pointer! Isn’t the Goracle announcing his Bid for President soon?
Drtuddle on May 21, 2007 at 2:38 PM
At least some people in Brazil are aware of Global Warming…
RushBaby on May 21, 2007 at 2:40 PM
Silly me! Why that ribbon should be green of course.

Please pass along my wishes to have Michelle highlight the DDT debacle during the Goracle’s concert.
So Bryan, when is Michelle getting her own Sunday show?

“Talkin’ ’bout Global Wwwwwwwwwwarming!!!”
Aging British rock stars that aren’t going to be used my Left wing scam artists? That’s Rock ‘N Roll in its purest form.
Hening on May 21, 2007 at 2:54 PM
Dear Roger Daltry…. we appreciate your concern. But there are two points you should be aware of before making such statements. 1) Global Warming is a fraud, the globe is not warming, so Al Gore can burn all the fuel he want, no problem. and 2) This event will help the Goracle in his presidential bit. Thanks
Maxx on May 21, 2007 at 2:54 PM
That Forbes story is a good point about Rachel Carson and her silent spring. You know, there is a real silent spring pending here in Northern Virginia. The West Nile Virus is wiping out birds by the truckload. And that killer disease is carried by mosquitoes. DDT could put an end to the threat of west nile here in the US, but no one will take that step for fear of the eco-religionists.
BelchSpeak on May 21, 2007 at 3:09 PM
Great term – eco-religionists. We should use it more often, as it is a perfect description of the people in that movement.

Soc*alists never care about the law of unintended consequences, they only care about increasing power. Since the easiest way to do that without actually producing a useful product or service (they don’t know how) is to lead a crusade against a crisis, they must always have a crisis to work from.
Their favorites are “the children” and “the poor”, but they will gladly use any disaster that comes along, whether it’s Katrina, AIDS, or malaria. They want us to buy mosquito nets to save the children from malaria. As if mosquitos only fly at night, or the children are only bit while asleep. But they would never consider just using the one thing that deals with the mosquitos directly.
Oh, JawHaw, the parsing filters cause certain words to place your comment in moderation, and require one of the staff to release it. Anytime a comment doesn’t come through right away, that’s what has happened. That’s why I’ve learned (thanks, Entelechy) to use an asterisk in words like social*st.

Long Live Rock! At least until we all burn to death!
soulsirkus on May 21, 2007 at 3:43 PM
Well, I’d say brown, because it’s the color of BS. Or white, to signify the clean mental slate you have to have to fall for every “cause” coming down the pike.
What color IS gullibility anyway??
tickleddragon on May 21, 2007 at 3:45 PM
I’d prefer one that means “F**k off- I already know & am not interested in spreading the word for you.”
NightmareOnKStreet on May 21, 2007 at 4:04 PM
Daltrey was never afraid to speak his mind…
Doctorted on May 21, 2007 at 4:31 PM
Wish they’d all j-j-j-j-j-just go away…
DCJeff on May 21, 2007 at 4:52 PM
Nope. I disagree with Daltrey.
The Goracle and friends desperately need an “awareness” rally, to get the word out that “global warming” is now officially dead, and “climate change” is in.
I’m sitting in Southern California at the moment, land of the loony left, and we’re freezing our balls off here. Like Christmas all week – and I’ve heard people in line at Starbucks, real live Granola types, laughing at “global warming.”
But “climate change” …. well, that’s got possibilities. Cold? Warm? Who knows or cares … let’s just raise some bucks.
Gore needs ManBearPigaPalooza. Badly. It’s time for a new liberal meme, and there isn’t enough “awareness.”
Thinking like a liberal is entertaining. And funny. But the best part is that I’m only half kidding about the above – go read Michael Crichton’s “State of Fear” to see just why libs need more “awareness” on this issue …
Professor Blather on May 21, 2007 at 4:57 PM
Why that is 150,000 children more than the 650,000 Iraqis our troops have killed in the entire Iraqi war…..according to Rosie O. Following Big Ro’s logic, those children didn’t harm anyone or invade another country, so why should they be targeted? Therefore, it is nice to know that the libs will pick this up as a cause to defend the defenseless, since that is what they say they are all about…………..waiting……….[crickets]……
Mallard T. Drake on May 21, 2007 at 5:27 PM
hehe..i was just being polite.
tickleddragon on May 21, 2007 at 5:33 PM
It’s considered more inflammatory than ‘balls’. It was the focus of an obscenity case in the late 70s.
aengus on May 21, 2007 at 5:40 PM
Thanks for the clarification…I wasn’t old enough in my Anglophilia in the 70s to catch that case. ;)
All I know is it’s on TONS of the Brit tv and film I watch. (Which, coincidentally, I watch almost more than American tv and film.)
Bollocks bollocks bollocks… Wait, so “the dog’s bollocks” is BAD now? I thought it was good! (Kidding of course.)
tickleddragon on May 21, 2007 at 5:50 PM
Entertainers know first hand without their cause du jour they have little significance beyond their own celebrity. And that really bothers them. I grew up eating and sleeping rock and roll. Yeah, it’s great and all, it cannot really change the world. There are things that can. Rock ain’t one of em.
Buck Turgidson on May 21, 2007 at 5:56 PM
I can’t find the link but heard Dicaprio getting nasty with reporters who questioned the elites use of private jets while spreading the true word of global warming. He claimed to have flown to Cannes via commercial jet (yeah right) and told everyone to lay off of the AlGore for his private lifestyle. Of course it doesn’t matter since Global Warming is a political movement rather than an ecological one.
Buzzy on May 21, 2007 at 6:43 PM
Neo-Lysenkoism.
A perverse mix of real and bogus science pushed by a half-educated crank. Political pressure used to shut up legitimate researchers. Has any university bestowed a science degree on Gore yet to provide cover for the fact that science of any type wasn’t his “thang?”
Lysenkoism’s contribution to the venacular before it collapsed into a ruin, taking along Soviet agriculture with it:
agrobiology : coinage of a word that was nothing more than false science
jabberology : pseudo-science blabbering
naliaka on May 21, 2007 at 8:22 PM
I’ve got a great idea to save _____. LET’S PUT ON A SHOW!!!
I don’t know who coined the phrase, but I heard it from Rush: politics is Hollywood for the ugly. You know Al really lights up whenever someone calls him a “rock star.” He wants it, bad. I didn’t trust him in the first place, but his schmoozing is just unbearable.
Anyway, the question on the table is, “Are you ready to change the way you live?” Apparently not, or Live Earth wouldn’t be happening. Bands could tape themselves performing at home and upload the clips to the Internets. Wham bam, I just saved a jillion tons of jet fuel.
