Sorry for such short notice, I didn’t know it was on early tonight.

I’m not disappointed like other 24 bloggers, but I am completely underwhelmed.

Here’s what to expect tonight:

Lorie wonders if the disconnected plot lines can be explained.

Coronagold on May 21, 2007 at 8:01 PM

It will be interesting to see how they rap all this up tonight.

flyboy777 on May 21, 2007 at 8:04 PM

I’ve never watched 24 – who wants to tell me what its about?

Tru2my2 on May 21, 2007 at 8:05 PM

I see some must have brought a change of clothes to CTU. All done within the past hour.

flyboy777 on May 21, 2007 at 8:12 PM

Yer late :-)

Philip Bauer must’ve read the McShame-Swimmer-Bush Amnesty Act.

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 8:18 PM

I’m trying to figure out who I think it’s ok to die. This is hard. I know Papa will, but who else? Not Buchanan or Chloe I hope.

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 8:27 PM

Sorry for being late folks…I had family business to tend to.

But NOW…I’m here so the party can start. ;P

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:27 PM

I think Buchanan is running close to getting popped…

Perhaps Morris as well…Chloe needs alittle more tragedy in her life.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:28 PM

No, no, no!! not Chloe!

Tru2…if you really are new to the show; sorry. It would take tooooo long to explain and it’s too intense to miss.

Oh my. Who’s Stewart??!!

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 8:31 PM

Yes, yes!! Stewart for Chloe~

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 8:32 PM

Stewart for Chloe or Nadia?

I’d pay to see THAT fight!

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:33 PM

You’d pay for that, Pilgrim? Then vote for them to make the finals of the Miss B4B contest.

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 8:40 PM

DONE!

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:43 PM

Damn it Ricky!

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:45 PM

Can’t wait to see Ocean’s 13

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:47 PM

I’ve never watched 24 – who wants to tell me what its about?

Tru2my2 on May 21, 2007 at 8:05 PM

Do what I did…start renting the vids from season one…
I just finished up season one, and DAYUM! it was good. The final was sooo sad though. Big ole guy like me nearly shed a tear.

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 8:48 PM

$5 million in 15 minutes with 14 people (including Danny Ocean)? Yep, that’s a must-see (once it makes it to DVD that is; I’m too cheap for HBO and theaters don’t hold any attration for me).

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 8:49 PM

Last fall I had a bad cold…struggled out to the video shop and rented them all…including the original. ;)

Hate to support the likes of Clooney but like the Dixie Chicks…I just have to…

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:50 PM

time for alittle editorial commentary on the part of the writers…

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:52 PM

BINGO! Mr. Vice-President.

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 8:52 PM

so…for the first time in 6 years…fatigue creeps in?

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:55 PM

NOOOoooooo!!!!

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 8:56 PM

WTF??? Did someone poison Chloe????

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 8:56 PM

And DOWN GOES CLOE!

DOWN GOES CLOE!

Dr. Gecko on May 21, 2007 at 8:56 PM

WTF??? Did someone poison Chloe????

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 8:56 PM

Pregnant maybe???

flyboy777 on May 21, 2007 at 8:57 PM

Oh Jeeeezz……….

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 8:58 PM

They’re dropping like flies, and there’s still another hour to finish off CTU-LA.

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 8:58 PM

Hey since I just started watching this season, could someone tell me why the season is ending with 6am? How long a usual season?
I thought it was 24 episodes

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 9:02 PM

So who is the mole?

LakeRuins on May 21, 2007 at 9:02 PM

no…she’s preggers

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:04 PM

Damned HIPPA!

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:06 PM

If so…could it be Jack’s?? hee, hee. :~)

(OK, don’t kick me out.)

Oooooo, back to the serious stuff.

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:07 PM

Alright! Shawshank Warden!!

Coronagold on May 21, 2007 at 9:07 PM

It’s 24 episodes. The season started with a 2-day/4-hour run starting at 6 am, and this is hour 24.

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 9:08 PM

Big @$$ firefight coming up…Gotta love Buchanan.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:09 PM

Buchanan’s been the best since the first President Palmer.

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:09 PM

He certainly has his priorities in order.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:10 PM

Damned HIPPA!

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:06 PM

Just had to mention that. I will see your HIPPA and raise you an NPI

/completely off topic and really an inside sort of thing
//In keeping with the theme of this thread, I could tell ya but then I would have to kill ya.

LakeRuins on May 21, 2007 at 9:12 PM

Thanx steveegg. I missed most of the beginning, then I became hooked!
Season two starts this week (netflicks)

hehehe….this is about to get really good!

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 9:12 PM

Damned HIPPA!

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:06 PM

Just had to mention that. I will see your HIPPA and raise you an NPI

LOL! Very nice! With Morris being the Über-hacker that he is, I’m surprised he doesn’t just walk right in and get what he needs. The NPI shouldn’t be that much of a challenge…

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:15 PM

So…will Jack kill his Dad or will Josh?

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:19 PM

This reminds me a lot of Riven. Evil grandfather.

Coronagold on May 21, 2007 at 9:20 PM

Gotta be Josh promptly followed by a “That’s my boy” from Jack.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:20 PM

LOL, Pilgrim.

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 9:24 PM

Cripes – I can’t take it anymore.

When is the Fonz making a cameo with his motorcycle….

Dr. Gecko on May 21, 2007 at 9:25 PM

Gecko-

He’ll be the jumping the sharks in the water below the platform

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:26 PM

NICE!!! Good job Lil’ Jack!

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:27 PM

Is Chloe crackin’ up?

I think it’s going to be Josh Too!

Oh my gosh! Shoot him!!

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:27 PM

Nice stance with the pistol too! Must be genetic

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:27 PM

Ding, you nailed it, Pilgrim.

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 9:28 PM

Pop his @$$ Jack

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:29 PM

Jack’s gonna do a fancy dive off the platform…to be plucked out by Coasties?

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:30 PM

Sidewinders and AmmRams???

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:31 PM

Oh Buchanan…way to go!!

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:31 PM

What is up with that? couple 250#ers would do the trick wouldn’t it?

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:32 PM

Hmmm…30 more minutes to go??

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:32 PM

Time for Daniels and Change to face the music? Alittle clean up with Buchanan Hayes…a taste of next year…

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:33 PM

Still no verifiable word on papa too…

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:33 PM

ah yes….good ole what’s her name

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:35 PM

yeah the genetics…got that fire inside
Only in Hollywood! But that was great!

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 9:36 PM

Did Laura Ingram just do a little cameo???

flyboy777 on May 21, 2007 at 9:40 PM

Thank you…thank you…thank you…

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:43 PM

Oh, rats.

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:43 PM

OMG you ppl have espn here….

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 9:43 PM

Morris couldn’t say anything right now other than follow Chloe’s orders.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:43 PM

I really dislike Morris.

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:43 PM

I’m pregnant.

Boy, the writers worked hard for that plot line….

Dr. Gecko on May 21, 2007 at 9:43 PM

Prego!

Coronagold on May 21, 2007 at 9:43 PM

Audrey! That’s her name…forgot for a second.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:47 PM

Jack finally gets to have his say.

jatfla on May 21, 2007 at 9:48 PM

Very nice ending….

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:55 PM

GEEZ! That was the most FU’d ending!

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 9:55 PM

hehehe…nice…dark…depressing…I like it.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:56 PM

SHAAAAAARK!!!!!

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 9:56 PM

Nice ending, leaves next season open game for some new ideas. I like the way they did this.

flyboy777 on May 21, 2007 at 9:57 PM

Steveegg- quite possibly this was the shark season but I think it ended the best way it could. Anything else and we’d all be talking about how cheesy it was.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 9:57 PM

Cheese? That’s right up my alley ;-)

steveegg on May 21, 2007 at 10:03 PM

hehehehe….that’s for the great monday evening chatter folks! Can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next year but until then…back to our regular hashing out the manna from Allah and Co.

Pilgrim on May 21, 2007 at 10:08 PM

Still have nearly a half hour to go here. But at the moment I’m wishing that they had also targeted the Chinese Sub.

LegendHasIt on May 21, 2007 at 10:35 PM

Worst season ever. I was pleading for the end to come. Bump off Audrey and Kim and have an hour of Jack torturing Michael Moore and I’ll watch next season. Very disappointed…

danarchy on May 21, 2007 at 10:41 PM

Oh, for a second, I thought that they WERE going to sink the sub.

LegendHasIt on May 21, 2007 at 10:41 PM

I thought it was a decent ending. A little mushy with Audrey. At least it wasn’t a ‘cliffhanger’…. (even though he WAS standing on the edge of a cliff… DOH!) I hate ‘cliffhangers’ that last more than a week.

LegendHasIt on May 21, 2007 at 10:58 PM

Nice little Laura Ingraham cameo there towards the end.

And all in all, it sure was exciting! When the groups of people were sitting around their tables talking about the threat that the Russians might attack “our base” in “central Asia,” my heart was pouding! I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty emotionally invested in the notion that we have a base somewhere in a vague geographic region that might be under some kind of threat, which I know because some people talked about it a lot! Good stuff!

Then, when the Navy armed, fueled, mission-planned, and launched two F/A-18’s in about four minutes, I was super excited! I didn’t even know we could do that!

And the suprises kept coming! The target was an oil platform, so I’d have thought they’d use LGB’s or JDAMs or at least some kind of bomb, but then the pilot gave the radio calls for firing one heat-seeking and one radar-seeking air-to-air missile! I thought maybe the Chinese submarine had somehow launched Chinese fighters and a dogfight was about to ensue! But surprise again! Instead of AAM’s, the Hornets launched what I’m pretty sure were fireworks! It was like the 4th of July!

I tell you, these guys have really mastered the twists and turns.

Meanwhile, the season finale of “Heroes” was characteristically good (though I have to admit, I expected a little more dazzle from the penultimate Sylar/Peter showdown).

Blacklake on May 21, 2007 at 11:01 PM

Law and order…Blah

lsutiger on May 21, 2007 at 11:10 PM

Blacklake…

Meanwhile, the season finale of “Heroes” was characteristically good (though I have to admit, I expected a little more dazzle from the [**SPOILER**].

Be careful about potentially ruining shows.

DaveS on May 21, 2007 at 11:19 PM

Yeah! I DVR Heroes and watch it just before I go to sleep.

Why they schedule the (only) two ‘broadcast TV’ shows that I enjoy opposite each other …. Well, I know why, but I don’t have to like it.

LegendHasIt on May 21, 2007 at 11:31 PM

Who’s that sneaking up behind Jack, with a psychotic look in their eyes, at the cliff’s edge?

profitsbeard on May 21, 2007 at 11:59 PM

It was not a great season. It was not a great season finale either. But I still love this show. I love complaining about all the plot holes and I love the excessive violence. I thought they’d give President Obama at least a few seconds of screentime tonight. Hope this is not the last we see of Buchanan, he’s a great character.

boru on May 22, 2007 at 12:02 AM

I love this show, but that was really not good at all.

Slublog on May 22, 2007 at 12:07 AM

Be careful about potentially ruining shows.

Sylar squaring off against Peter? If it’s featured prominently in the promos, mentioning it isn’t really a spoiler.

Blacklake on May 22, 2007 at 12:10 AM

Stylistically speaking, Jack had a pretty good place picked there to contemplate his personal ending. That was a beautiful deck. One shot, and over the rail into the ocean. Watching this season at times left me with a desire to shoot myself. I didn’t think his moment with Audrey was mushy; that was the most emotion he’s been allowed to show. I liked his outrage toward Heller. Ungrateful jerk. After all Jack had done for him, he had the gall to speak to Jack in that fashion. Audrey was all he had left and he didn’t get to have her either; the thanks of a grateful nation? As David LoPan so eloquently put it…’Indeed!’

austinnelly on May 22, 2007 at 12:11 AM

Sylar squaring off against Peter? If it’s featured prominently in the promos, mentioning it isn’t really a spoiler.

Yeah, the face-off is not a spoiler. The adjective you put in front of it is a potential spoiler.

DaveS on May 22, 2007 at 12:52 AM

I read somewhere that when someone dies the time at the end is silent. The clock at the end of the show was silent. Was Jack supposed to die this season?

Rose on May 22, 2007 at 2:01 AM

Who’s that sneaking up behind Jack, with a psychotic look in their eyes, at the cliff’s edge?

That was me. I mistook him for Joel Surnow.

Centerfire on May 22, 2007 at 3:22 AM

At least it wasn’t a ‘cliffhanger’…. (even though he WAS standing on the edge of a cliff… DOH!) I hate ‘cliffhangers’ that last more than a week.

LegendHasIt on May 21, 2007 at 10:58 PM

Ummmm, I think it was a “cliffhanger” in both senses of the word. We’re supposed to believe Jack is contemplating suicide either by jumping over the precipice or shooting himself and we have to wait until next year to find out if he did it.

It’s possible. Remember: it’s only been 24 hours since he was released from years of torture in a Chinese prison. I know from personal experience how bad that can be. My brothers gave me Indian Burns and noogies all the time and they called it Chinese torture.

IrishEi on May 22, 2007 at 6:32 AM

Nice little Laura Ingraham cameo there towards the end.
Blacklake on May 21, 2007 at 11:01 PM

So it WAS her!

IrishEi on May 22, 2007 at 7:21 AM

I thought it was pretty boring =/

The good things I took away from it was the VP’s comments about not knowing anything until you “sit in this seat” and how it’s easy to have all the answers when ultimately it’s not your responsibility. I think thats a point not made often enough.

I also liked the realization some of them came to regarding not dealing with sociopaths like Jacks dad and Fayed.

Dash on May 22, 2007 at 7:39 AM

Season 7 of 24: Jack tortures Cheng for 24 hours.

alflauren on May 22, 2007 at 8:11 AM

First, the clock was silent because Jack’s father died, and Jack learned that Audrey has been in a coma.

Second, next season will probably have a search for the component which Jack’s father had on him at the end of the show. Consider that a PRC sub will send divers to retrieve the module from the body on the ocean floor, and then reverse-engineer everything within that component. Next season will probably have a large plotline within China, with a Chinese-speaking CTU/CIA covert operative who, of course, will die on the penultimate episode.

chsw on May 22, 2007 at 8:59 AM

I think the FlamingLibs in this country could learn a lesson from the words of Karen Hayes-Buchanan: “Don’t negotiate with sociopaths.”
