Isn’t the real question “why were our troops not allowed to waste this terrorist then instead of being pulled back when we had him?”, and “Why was Sadr allowed to restart his militia when he had already killed U. S. soldiers?”, as well as “Who made the call?”

Answer those questions and follow the chain of command to who made the call. Perhaps the same genius who pulled our soldiers off of Osama in Afghanistan when we had him trapped?

All of which leads to more interesting questions, I think – which need answers if we are to be truly resolute in the future.

Bush’s fatal flaw is his inability to understand fury.

The public forgives when it is infuriated.

Killing Sadr then would have been understood.
