John Edwards and his voluptuous hair.. the jokes never get old.. or do they?

Nate A. on May 20, 2007 at 10:06 PM

What’s wrong with their audio? It keeps cutting out then back in.

The John Edwards segment was lame.

Timothy S. Carlson on May 20, 2007 at 10:10 PM

Audio issues here in PA as well.

Love the Franklin Mint series…plates

flyboy777 on May 20, 2007 at 10:14 PM

The ‘Conspiracy Corner’ segment was a good idea but poorly executed. They went for the cheap joke that didn’t work.

Timothy S. Carlson on May 20, 2007 at 10:23 PM

Oh, “Conspiracy Corner” wasn’t that bad. I hate that Lorenzo just drove a stake through the heart of his career.

ScottMcC on May 20, 2007 at 10:27 PM

Wow – Dennis Miller was strong. I wish those comments were said on something other than a ‘comedy show’, because they weren’t comedy…

Timothy S. Carlson on May 20, 2007 at 10:29 PM

Miller’s take on Iraq was well put, a good ending to the show this week.

flyboy777 on May 20, 2007 at 10:29 PM

It was SUCH a VAST improvement this week when Dennis Miller stopped trying to be funny.

CyberCipher on May 20, 2007 at 10:29 PM

ALot of the “weekly news segments” were actually very funny
Conspiracy Corner was decent but needs to be worked on a bit better
The plates weren’t that funny
The Edwards one was funny for about 20seconds

Defector01 on May 20, 2007 at 10:29 PM

“So how are these 19 Muslim men connected to Dick Cheney?”

wit! dennis, stop! don’t go in there! dennis, wait…gah! too late.

WMD’s WDM’s Weapons of Dennis Miller

sonnyspats1 on May 20, 2007 at 11:38 PM

My problem with THHNH is that the show’s stock performers don’t seem to be that into it (does anyone know if the peformers are also writers for the show or are they just L.A. waiters reading lines written for them?) and most of the guests are righty radio show hosts reading parody ad copy the same as they would for their own radio shows. Without witty comedians willing to take ownership of the show by riffing on subjects from an alternative viewpoint, the whole thing comes across as kinda half-ass.

C’mon, THHNH. Don’t do anything half-ass. You need to go… uh, you need to– to be full-ass?

Look, whatever. You know what I meant.

ScottMcC on May 20, 2007 at 11:40 PM

I still think having the two people sitting at a desk ala SNL shows a lack of ingenuity on the part of the writers. I would like to see them do it like CNN’s Situation Room doing their interviews via the TV monitors rather than, again, copying SNL.

pocomoco on May 20, 2007 at 11:41 PM

Hmm. The laughter and cheering sounded pretty genuine to me.

{{{Lorenzo}}} funny as hell.

Dennis was serious and ferocious. That clip was hard hitting and straight to the marrow.

HHNH post rocks, Ian.

Don’t copy SNL because that’s a lack of ingenuity–you should copy CNN instead.

Now that’s funny!

ScottMcC on May 20, 2007 at 11:47 PM

Hehehe. And too the critics, it’s getting better. A lot of long running shows sucked at take off but got better as they went along. Well, if that isn’t good enough for you . . . write your own show or shut your bleedin yap. That’s my take on it anyway.

MirCat on May 21, 2007 at 12:08 AM

Good stuff. Dennis grew up and got cool.

Mojave Mark on May 21, 2007 at 12:16 AM

I forgot about the show, but these two segments here are great. I thought Conspiracy Corner was hilarious, and Miller’s monologue on Iraq was very good.

Patriot33 on May 21, 2007 at 12:31 AM

I went back and checked, and that “salute” that Dennis gave them the Dems consisted only of the middle finger. Standard issue in NJ, maybe, but way to slip that one in, Dennis.

smellthecoffee on May 21, 2007 at 12:41 AM

I noticed it cut out where Edwards was saying “Jewish Zionists.” Those darn nep-Cons! In addition to controlling the world economy, and the entertainment industry, they also have their finger on the mute button at Fox News! Oh, the horror.

/irony–for the literal minded editors.

smellthecoffee on May 21, 2007 at 12:47 AM

Jobs Americans wont do, like attacking Fort Dix with just 6ix people!

abinitioadinfinitum on May 21, 2007 at 1:17 AM

I didn’t watch the show, was it better than all the previous? These clips were MUCH better, but that’s obviously not the entire show.

Lol, Lorenzo Lamas? Where did that come from? They must have a list of conservatives in Hollywood or something, because that was really random. Funny bit though. The only problem I had with it was that it will actually spur conspiracy theorists on with the fire/steel argument, because as I understand it (and I could be wrong, though it’s rare that that happens) the steel wasn’t melted, and it would have taken much higher temps to melt it… but it weakened the steel significantly to where it couldn’t hold the floors above, as they came down, the added weight (especially with the velocity, making it that much heavier) caused pancaking all the way down. The Truthers will say “but the heat wasn’t hot enough to melt steel”, and because that seems to be true, they’ll actually be emboldened by this.

The Dennis Miller segment was a HUGE improvement from last time. I still say he should be writing the show (and perhaps be one of the anchors), but that’s a side issue. Instead of these weird one liners where he kept having to say “up next” like last week’s episode, he got to go one one long rant, basically in the format he used to for a short time on H&C.

Miller made an interesting point about WMDs too… Although I still believe that Saddam had them and that they were moved (the world’s intelligence agencies believed they were there, and there is a lot of evidence to suggest they were moved), Miller is right about the fact that we stood to lose THOUSANDS more troops if these weapons had been unleashed. Before Nonfactor and Bradky show up – The reason Saddam didn’t use them against us is, as we KNOW, France and others were promising Saddam that we’d never actually wage an all out war on him, taking Baghdad, etc. Saddam thought something like Bush’s father’s war was about as bad as it would get, and he believed throughout that he would remain in power, because “our allies” were comforting him because of business deals they had going.

RightWinged on May 21, 2007 at 1:24 AM

Dang! Lorenzo Lamas has aged nicely. What was this post about again?

baldilocks on May 21, 2007 at 1:53 AM

smellthecoffee,

I am glad to hear I am not the only one that caught the one finger salute to the Dems and their minions! I caught it the first time but rewound it to see if I was not imagining things. ROTFLMAO!!

Timothy S. Carlson on May 20, 2007 at 10:29 PM

I agree, while it is a comedy show what Dennis said hit the bullseye and should be our administration and every Americans take on the war we currently face. What I agreed with the most was how we need to “shake the cobwebs loose” and stop worrying about being PC (after all war has never been PC, nor will it ever be) especially when our very survival is at stake.

Just like Dennis I’m still waiting for our government and politicians to stop tying our military’s hands behind their backs and let them go after these murdering fanatics with all we have until they unconditionally surrender!

Liberty or Death on May 21, 2007 at 2:15 AM

That Dennis Miller monologue sounded like it could have been written by Fred!

Here’s hoping it goes viral.

.

The Machine on May 21, 2007 at 2:32 AM

Way to go, Dennis (M). You’re among the few making an actual compelling case.

askheaves on May 21, 2007 at 2:39 AM

Dennis, Fred… it’s like they’re actually coming out and saying what they believe, proudly and without apology.

Why, it’s almost crazy enough to work…

saint kansas on May 21, 2007 at 3:24 AM

Simply an awesome salute to a deserving Congress.

Emmett J. on May 21, 2007 at 4:22 AM

For those who don’t know, Dennis has a three hour daily radio show 10A-1P Eastern, which I think you can stream, w/o being a member, at The Dennis Miller Show. I stream him from 9-Mid Eastern on KRLA Los Angeles. Every show has at least a dose of this and related rants.

eeyore on May 21, 2007 at 4:48 AM

I thought it was pretty funny (the first one) The second one wasn’t funny but true.

Aylios on May 21, 2007 at 5:47 AM

ScottMcC on May 20, 2007 at 11:40 PM

Agreed.

Dennis Miller is better when he’s not trying to be funny. He’s a strong communicator and speaker, but I never really got into his jokes.

“If there were no WMD’s in Iraq, it was the best thing that ever happened to us.” – good line.

emmaline1138 on May 21, 2007 at 6:30 AM

Find someone to do a Liberal spoof on news like Stephen Colbert does on conservatives. If you can find the right person, the material is endless.

Dash on May 21, 2007 at 7:46 AM

Rosie O’Lardarse should watch and learn something. Fire? Can melt steel?

I thought I dreamed it. Too funny.

The Line: “we are two buckets into a million-bucket fireman’s carry.” Wow. Powerful statement.

Jaibones on May 21, 2007 at 9:26 AM

Now wait a minute! SNL is a comedy show featuring fictional news, while CNN is a ,,,,,,,,

NEVER MIND!

pocomoco on May 21, 2007 at 9:42 AM

MILLER ROCKS!!!!!

Lonevoice on May 21, 2007 at 9:55 AM

I think it is rather telling and sad how many have posted here that they think Lorenzo Lamas has killed his career by publicly ridiculing the truthers. Lorenzo has always been a ballsy say exactly what he thinks politically incorrect kind of guy, and I for one say bravo to him for it. As for hurting his career, only in the wildest dreams of the whacked out left.

doriangrey on May 21, 2007 at 10:49 AM

Kevin Kilner and Lamas were funny, but Lamas caved too quickly at the end to make it funny.

Miller is the man. Imagine if he were the WH Press secretary.

Iblis on May 21, 2007 at 11:44 AM

Am I the only one who noticed that Dennis flipped off the liberals [appx. 43 seconds into the GooTube clip]?

The show is improving. Rabid liberal attacks to commence in 5, . . . Oh, wait! :oP

DannoJyd on May 21, 2007 at 12:06 PM

OOPS! I am not the only one after all.

DannoJyd on May 21, 2007 at 12:13 PM

Catchy segment title. I nominate Dennis for WH speechwriter. Has he ever debated Al Franken? I’d pay to see that. An all SNL mash-up. Better than the actual show.

Buck Turgidson on May 21, 2007 at 12:56 PM

“Actually … that’s how they *MAKE* steel …”

Ba ha ha ha ha ha ha

I love what happens when liberal silliness and “reality” actually meet.
