Appearing on “The Colbert Report” last night, DNC chair Howard Dean said Democrats dropped out of the Fox News debate because the network is a “propaganda outlet.” Yet, appearing on the same network as Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann is okay.
COLBERT: Now, why won’t the Democrats debate on Fox News? You guys afraid?
DEAN: There’s no sense on going on propaganda outlets if you don’t have to.
COLBERT: What do you mean propaganda? They’re fair and balanced.

Was it the Russians?

Passed. If you guys do upgrade to 2.2 (or 2.13), the folks at WordPress meant it when they said to disable the plugins first (at least they did when I moved from 2.0.x to 2.1x).

Hot air is silencing dissent. Argh! :P

As for HowDea’s comments, they do feel that they’re back in monopolistic control of the media, or at least in that ballpark.

I wonder if Howard Flat Head Dean will ask the candidates not to buy advertising in FNC too? Just think, democrap free FNC.
Zorro on May 17, 2007 at 9:28 PM
You know, Howard has a point. I mean could you imagine if Republicans debated on a network that was pitted against them….oh, wait. Nevermind.

DEAN: There’s no sense on going on propaganda outlets if you don’t have to.
Translation: There’s no sense having to answer hard questions, if you don’t have to.

The funny thing is that even the Dems gave the FOX debate a better review.

BTW, Ian, Thompson responded to today’s amnesty bill. Sorry for being off topic, but wanted to get that to you.
amerpundit on May 17, 2007 at 9:41 PM
If FOX was Fair they would not allow most of the foolish left propaganda
It’s the balance part that gives equal time to such foolishness

thx

Someone once said that it’s not that Fox News is Conservative. It’s just that for so many years we’ve been getting news from anti-American news sources, that now that we have a pro-American one, it seems Conservative?
amerpundit on May 17, 2007 at 9:47 PM
Well he only comes off like a weenie when Republicans can debate on CNN, and NBC, and FOX while Democrats can not debate on FOX. In addition the quality of questions makes MSNBC look like the Maxim Network.
Theworldisnotenough on May 17, 2007 at 9:48 PM
Oh, and not to annoy you, but so did Rudy. I promise, that’s the last off-topic comment.
amerpundit on May 17, 2007 at 9:49 PM
Be smart. When the Demo’s see the light and sack this gasbag you would have to believe they are starting to get a bit smarter.

Me thinks Hillary will squish him soon enough.

Coward Dean is appropriately gutless for a leader of the party of appeasement and surrender. Every debate the Republicans participate in is like an away game, because when they aren’t on one of the enemedia networks, they’re getting asked hardball questions on Fox. You’d think the Surrendercrats could manage to go on one network that wasn’t going to drop to its knees for them.
And since nobody’s asked it yet in this thread, how are the Democrats going to stand up to people that want to kill us when they can’t even face Brit Hume? And the unfortunate answer is, they aren’t.
ReubenJCogburn on May 17, 2007 at 11:06 PM
But it’s OK to go on a propaganda outlet like Colbert.
WasatchMan on May 17, 2007 at 11:30 PM
this is the funniest equivocation i’ve heard in awhile…the two are completely unrelated. Its like saying “how can bush lead the free world if he can’t handle a pretzel!”.
Dean has been on Fox…I think his point would be it’s inappropriate to have a presidential debate on a propoganda outlet.
crr6 on May 18, 2007 at 1:46 AM
A good propagandist would be able to get his intended message out on any live broadcast, even through a ‘propaganda outlet’ of the enemy.
So; Dean proves he is incompetent at yet another occupation and shows a lack of faith in his candidate’s competence at the same time.
LegendHasIt on May 18, 2007 at 3:50 AM
crr6, when has Dean appeared on Fox? I do not recall ever seeing him and that is the only station on at my house. Anytime they want someone from the DNC Terry McAwful how up. Dean is afraid. The Rebuplicans showed up for Chrissy Matthews “Beat the Clock” game show the other night. It was a real embarassement for MSNBC.
bopbottle on May 18, 2007 at 4:17 AM
The most annoying thing about all this is that there are people who think Colbert is for real.
Johnny Carson’s old Floyd R. Turbo character is more realistic than Colbert’s pretense of being a non-lefty.
One must really be sucking the Koolaid to buy that garbage.
Freelancer on May 18, 2007 at 5:18 AM
Douche.
Jaibones on May 18, 2007 at 7:49 AM
Hum, he must be praying to Pelosi.
BobK on May 18, 2007 at 7:54 AM
Funny….this is how most Americans refer to MSNBC and CNN.
And note, the ONLY time that Shrillery ever goes on Fox is if one of Fox’s libs is interviewing her. Question is, will voters hold Shrill’s feet to the fire to answer the difficult questions? In this political climate, I doubt it.

Somebody really ought to break it to Dean that, according to a media study done by UCLA, Fox News had one of the four most centrist news shows on TV: .
It’s amazing to me how, even in the face of a study that actually provides evidence that the vast majority of media outlets show a left-leaning bias, liberals have the audacity to whine that Fox News is the only one that’s a propaganda machine simply because it leans to the right.
Dean’s an idiot, which frankly speaking, only works in any conservative’s favor.
TXRedhead on May 18, 2007 at 9:25 AM
Rats, got the link thingy wrong. Oh well, the purple words take you to the study anyway.
TXRedhead on May 18, 2007 at 9:26 AM
Lame.
CP on May 18, 2007 at 9:29 AM
The lefties just can’t stand there is media which does not support the socialist agenda.
Wade on May 18, 2007 at 9:59 AM
Fine, call FOX a propaganda outlet, but then you’ll have to call CBS and the rest the same thing, and then you’re suddenly stuck with no channels to appear on.
It shows how completely wussy the Democrats have become, that they will not even go on a conservative TV news channel because it might hurt their feelings or expose them to things they’re not comfortable with.
Yeah, let’s send these people to fight terrorism. Good one.

So how is it not OK for Dems to appear on that pro-American “propaganda outlet” Fox News, but it’s OK for them to appear on the MSM “propaganda outlets” spouting Zawahiri’s talking points?!
