More like a few months…defeatists.

The whole operation should be finished in 24 hours. Except in our real world scenario we’ve cut off Jack Bauer’s balls and shoved them down his throat, disarmed him and made him apologize for wanting to protect the country in the first place.

Lots of great quotes today.

A pair of boomers could end this in a timeline of about 15 minutes.

That’s Plan B, Kristopher, and it keeps lookin’ better and better every day.
I wonder what it would look like from space?

Patient are the evil ones.

And may I say, General Conway is not known for apple polishing or putting lipstick on political pigs. He is a hired killer. Move out of his way, armchair warriors, and let him DO HIS JOB.

Our desire for instant gratification, our lack of patience and foresight, and our fantasy of “antiseptic war” will prove to be our undoing.
It’s past time for a true leader to explain to the American people that war is necessarily a distasteful, costly, and painful business; and also that war sometimes cannot be avoided without paying an even higher price.

Truman made the decision to Nuke Japan when he learned that based on the Invasion Plan
Balls to the wall!

….ohp…..you said “balls”!!!

Here we go again with the nuke em sentiments. Let the military fight and do the job it is equipped to do and get off the fantasies about vaporizing them (muslim) all.

You’re right of course – people’s expectations are ridiculous. They’d have more of an “appetite” for the war if they had any idea that it is going reasonably well and that there is plenty of hope for a win… and if they understood how critical a win is. Not that it’s Michael Moore’s kite-flying utopia, but it’s also nothing like the MSM is leading them to believe. So given the information the public has, I can understand their desire to bail. Of everything Bush has done in office, I think his capitulation in the PR war may be the worst.

It has to be said, the people’s appetite for a ten-year war might be greater if (a) the administration had warned of this up front instead of saying it would be a walkover, (b) the administration showed any signs of fighting it with determination and competence, and (c) the administration had made any effort AT ALL to explain what we’ve been doing for the past four years and to show the American people and the world that we’ve been doing good things.
It is one thing to fight a 10-year insurgency with determination and competence. It is another to flounder around spending money and lives to no good purpose, while keeping silent in the face of relentless doom and gloom talk from opponents of the war. As with Vietnam, the people will eventually say, win this damn thing or get out.

I was just thinking that this morning, most Americans have such a short attention span, it’s amazing anything gets done.

>As with Vietnam, the people will eventually say, win this damn thing or get out.
That’s right. But you know, this half-assed approach to war (which has become America’s modus operandi), and the full on accommodation of illegals on our own land (amnesty), one would almost be tempted to think that the Administration (and the Dems, which goes without saying) doesn’t give a shit about America. That for them it’s America Last. Ya think? Naaah. They wanna defend Americans and America’s interests. They told us that. And, shucks, I believe ‘em, ’cause they’re conservatives and they love Jesus!
Drum on May 18, 2007 at 10:01 AM
Damn! I’ve been saying this since about September 12.

Now, that is some imagery. I would take some small exception though..I probably would have disarmed him before I tried to cut him; even during the feeding portion he could have spit them out into an eye and staged an escape. Actually, I think this years 24 did have one accurate thing in it. If you recall, the opening episode had the US bring Jack home from China for the express purpose of turning him over to terrorists to be tortured to death, in exchange for them stopping a series of attacks. That kind of weak leadership; negotiating with killers, feeding them our bravest (note, nobody but Audrey attempted to rescue him before that.) and hoping they will honor their side is what I believe we are heading towards. I have some small hope for the Republican candidates; none of the Democrats give me any reason to think they wouldn’t happily recreate the 24 scenario. Human life means less to them; they easily rationalize it away (abortion issue); they have no stomach for a fight (any war since WWII); and they will negotiate with the worst elements of the world and expect the agreement to be honored (Carter, Clinton, and Kim Jong Il). Indeed..so long Jack, we hardly knew ya.

The dems have the surrender monkey.
Conservatives have the trunk monkey.
I can’t believe most people haven’t seen this videos, but I had to link them. I scare my dogs with my howling everytime I watch these.

sorry, wrong thread.

Fight to win or get out! All of you that are in it for the 10 year long haul of pussy footin’ around that backassward country better get your asses down to the recruiters office and sign up. Maybe you won’t mind missing out on years of your children’s lives, the pay cuts, and the dirthole living conditions just so you can be prosecuted later for killing a civilian that watched while an EID was placed outside his house. Put your livelihoods where your mouth is and call your recruiter today if the war is that important to you. It’s not like you have had to make any sacrifices yet.
frreal on May 18, 2007 at 11:46 AM
Way to play the chickenhawk card, frreal…
1. while nobody here would say that the way the war has been conducted is perfect, that doesn’t make losing a better alternative.
2. since you evidently haven’t got a blog of your own, then by your reasoning you have no right to comment on anyone else’s.
So get lost!

I don’t see why anyone expects our soldiers to EVER get out.
Americans died fighting for Iraqi soil.
That soil is now OURS. End of argument. If the Iraqis don’t like it, let THEM move out. I hear Palestine is having lovely weather this time of year…
