RedCrow writes:
People who work for the executive branch of government (Dept. of State folks) have as their boss…(drum roll)…the President of the United States!!!

You missed the point; let me slow it down for you. You don't get quality decisions by surrounding yourself with followers and yes men. All of Bush's picks are based on politics, ideology, favors and "good Ol boy" networking, not based on competence.

You had to see the interview of John Bolton on the "Daily Show"; I can't fully describe it in words, but Bolton was basically a jerk. He interrupted, was arrogant, misinformed and wrong when it came to history and facts. Again UN = diplomacy; Bolton = angry argumentative hole. Sounds like Bush math, 1 + 1 = chair!

Jon Stewart of the "Daily Show" is a liberal, sure, but he is a non-threatening, laid-back, friendly, well informed liberal. Bolton was on KILL from second one. I suspect that's his true self, all the time. He has diplomacy written all over him, for a concentration camp. (Yes that was a nazi reference.) Compassionate conservative? Right.

In Bolton's previous job's, he was hated by all of his staff. People quit to get away from him. Republicans don't even like him.

Bolton was instrumental in derailing a 2001 bio-weapons conference to enforce the Biological Weapons Convention. Bolton, argued that the plan would have put U.S. national security at risk by allowing spot inspections of suspected U.S. weapons sites. The U.S. claims no research for offensive purposes since 1969. He also tried to get UN official's fired, which was condemned by the UN. Didn't he also have a sexual harassment gig against him as well.

Any way sounds like the perfect man to represent America to the world, he was in deed the voice of Bush, a "Bushee". Like Wolfawitz, Bolton had influence in the Iraq war and both where rewarded. Yea, I'm screwed up and it's Bolton it's SUPER!!!

Notice Bush Jr. surrounds himself with alpha hole males like, shoot-em in the face Cheney, so what you don't have body armor Rumsfeld and Bolton. His dad, Bush senior is mild mannered guy. I wounder if Bush is looking for a daddy figure he always wanted? hmmmmm May be he is looking for his mom? Barb is pretty tough. May be Bush is gay and he like leather boys. Common, Bush tries too hard to be macho. The "mission accomplished" flight suit and codpiece thing. That was GAY! Presidents should not show their package in public.

It's one thing to be loyal to the President and press his agenda, its another to sell out the American people. Look at Gonzalez, warrantless wire taps, torture, geneva convention, constitution (what constitution). There was nothing he would not do, no matter how illegal. Why? Because if you disagreed with King George/Rove/Cheney you get fired. Will Gonzo fire US attorneys who are not aggressive (political) enough against Dems? SURE!

smellthecoffee: "basic unprincipled thugs–you know, “enforcers” (air quotes) for the President"

You got it Bro. Something smells real bad in D.C., and you are all OK with it. Strange.

I sure hope the Dems don't route the GOP in 2008, because I hate the one party system. Unlike you hard core right wingers, as an independent, I want what is best for the country not a particular party. When Bolton was in the UN, I want him to project what is best for America not politics and a partisan president.

Yes I am holier than thou. If the GOP insists on demanding an agenda based on outlawing abortions and gays, with a side of pro war forever, they will lose. We have bigger problems. The "Terrorist will kill us if you vote Dems" is not working anymore.

Spot on bro.

Questions he asks of a conservative:
"So you have stopped beating your wife then? And what the color and size of the stick you claim you "didn't beat her" (air quotes) with sir? How do you square your claim of innocence with a police report that shows huge welts on your wife's body? What? Someone else? Do you expect me to believe that? Do you even have an alibi? What's that? What, me? Oh no sir, I have no opinion on whether you beat her or not. I just ask questions--prejudicial, often rhetorical questions."

Questions he asks of a lib:
"Don't you just hate it that people are always bothering you with these "have you stopped beating your wife" questions? Yes, yes, I know--there's a real agenda to undermine your credibility afoot sir, isn't there? Why do you think these "people," (air quotes again) want to destroy you--they're neo-conservatives aren't they--is it that they are fascists or just your basic unprincipled thugs--you know, "enforcers" (air quotes) for the President?"

Just asking questions.

Oh, and Bill Nye for Head of NASA. And Michael Crichton for something too; Head of EPA maybe?

His "I see you are a gravedigger as well" went so over the snots head he proably still has not got it. John Bolton is just another reason UpChuck Shucmmer and his cronies should be put on a rail tarred and feathered and run out of the country.

Bolton the most undiplomatic person in the world appointed to a position of high diplomacy. Classic Bush Appointment. He is the Decider, the bad decider. May be its all a joke. May be Bush is punking us. He is saying.....ha ha wouldn't it be funny to put Bolton in the UN, ha ah.

When Bolton was on The Daily Show and John Stewart pointed out great presidents of the past put non partisan appointees in their cabinet and administration, crossing party lines, including Lincoln. Bowlton got all TESTY and was a jerk, saying that was not true. BOWLTON WAS WRONG. Lincoln and Clinton and my presidents have done this, the good ones.

Bowlton basically said you need extreme loyalist that will not question and will do what the president wants, for the president to get his agenda through. Basically Yes men and woman and politics before competence.

Hummmmmm Bush's choices really worked out bad for him, with enablers, co-dependant dysfunctional incompetent folks like Gonzaleza, Brown and Wolfowitz. What about the Government working for the PEOPLE, not a party. Rice? says Harriet Miers is the best-qualified person he could find? He is F-ing with america for his own sh#@ and giggles.

One big problem is Rove who is calling the shots, like firing US Attorneys who where after Republicans and voter fraud (while not going aggressively and exclusively after Dems). That is SAD and SICK and Pathetic. And all you patriots and super moral folks are OK with that? Partisan fools and hypocrites. If you let your PARTY get aways with that you are anti-American. This BS does more to distroy freedom than the terrorist.

BeeB Dude @ 8:11
"I have have an awful lot of views Ambassador. A view for every subject under the sun but I don't express them during the course of my interviews. I ask questions. That's what interviewing is about."

BeeB Dude @ 8:40
"And no doubt you'll call me a member of the extreme left when I put this to you as well."
I think he expressed one of those view things right there.
BeeB Dude @ 8:48
"The Great Neocon Adventure, a phrase which I suspect you'll reject, is over."
Sorry, was there a question there? I heard an assertion (speculative as it was) and I heard a parenthetical prediction. Which, how is it possible for BeeB Dude to make a prediction without expressing his view? I didn't hear him call "Time Out" wrt to the interview process. Then BeeB Dude makes another assertion. About Wolfowitz. And at long last he frames a question.

I think maybe he's a fatuous douche. Actually, there's there's no question about it.
And his voice betrays a great deal of subterranean personal agitation. I don't think of cucumber sandwiches when I listen to this guy. Hooligan.

I had to listen to the audio again. That kind of cool only comes from having the facts on your side and believing in something. Would a liberal have held his temper in check under a similar grilling? I strongly doubt it.

I adore John Bolton and I always have. He says what he thinks and he says it without rancor or hysterics or theatrics. He was the right man for the UN and for the US and it is extremely telling that the Democrats opposed him. I loved this interview.

Wow! That studiously nonpartisan, impartial BBC interviewer has a rather large blind spot. Bolton owned that guy! I'm surprised the BBC wuss didn't break down in tears, pack up his microphone and run away. ;-)
