Tune in tonight to the Fox News Channel at 9pm eastern. Like the previous debate, this one will last 90 minutes.
If you’re not a television, Fox News is simulcasting the debate on Fox News Radio.
We’ll have a poll up afterwards asking who won. LGF has a pre-debate straw poll. Stay tuned.
If you’re watching and see something clipworthy, don’t be a stranger.
Update (AP): The Fredheads are on the scene with literature in hand. Geraghty thinks the debate might already be over, with Fred the winner by dint of his video response to Michael Moore. It would be sweet irony if Moore, whoring for buzz for his movie, ended up inadvertently building excitement for the conservative standard bearer in the race.
WaPo expects Rudy to be in the crosshairs tonight given South Carolina’s reputation for social conservatism and Falwell’s death this morning. (Any hosanna for Falwell are likely to come from Mitt, who’s in fifth place in the state, if you can believe it, and will be looking to trumpet his values credentials.) He might get a question about 9/11 planning, too, after a former advisor produced an old memo challenging Rudy’s claim that the advisor had recommended the NYC emergency crisis center be placed in WTC 7. (Another former Giuliani aide came forward today to corroborate Rudy’s account.) The possible X-factor tonight, though, is immigration. Late word is that Republicans and Democrats have reached a compromise that would legalize illegals; neither McCain nor Rudy is going to want to talk about that, but Hotline says Tancredo plans to come out swinging so they might not have a choice. Stay tuned.
Update: The boss is liveblogging it.
Update: Huckabee says Congress has been spending money like John Edwards at a beauty shop:
Update: POLL CLOSED — RESULTS COMING SOON …
Update (BP): We have one or two video hightlights on the way. Here’s Rep. Tancredo looking for Jack Bauer.
If you think he’s kidding, here’s a clip from Laura Ingraham yesterday proving that he’s…not.

I fear Fred is a just a tad too old…
benrand on May 15, 2007 at 9:40 PM
this is the brutal round, apparently. great questions!
TexasDan on May 15, 2007 at 9:41 PM
Mr. McCain.. I don’t want any reaching across the aisle. Anyone second that?
RobertCSampson on May 15, 2007 at 9:42 PM
So, McCain intends to govern as a “maverick” – nice that he’s coming right out and saying so. I have to give him props for truth in advertising.
Laura on May 15, 2007 at 9:42 PM
Giulliani skirting the question…haha. Can’t wait for the polls to come out after this debate. I remember when “The State” newspaper out of Columbia posted a picture of two men holding hands…and they just showed their HANDS…the place was in an uproar! Smart for Rudy to not REALLY answer that question!

TexasDan on May 15, 2007 at 9:44 PM
He’s 65. Reagan was 70 when he was elected to his first term.
forged rite on May 15, 2007 at 9:44 PM
Romney is killing.
RobertCSampson on May 15, 2007 at 9:44 PM

Get out Reaganometer…it’s starting…’course Chris Wallace got the ball rolling..
commonsensehoosier on May 15, 2007 at 9:46 PM
No, no I have 3 as the current count.. Paul was first..
RobertCSampson on May 15, 2007 at 9:46 PM
Fred! is so awesome that he will win the debate without showing up!
Tim Burton on May 15, 2007 at 9:46 PM
Good for Romney if he supports English immersion… we could use some more of that.
Embryonic stem cells may “show promise” but adult stem cells are delivering right now. I’d love to see someone advocate dumping money on what is actually working already.
Laura on May 15, 2007 at 9:47 PM
don’t think that thumping UW Madison is going to stir up good feelings with a conservative crowd, fella.
TexasDan on May 15, 2007 at 9:47 PM
Benrand…I don’t think Fred! would stay in for two terms if he won. He seems more like the “kick ass and take names”
for one term kinda guy.
commonsensehoosier on May 15, 2007 at 9:47 PM
sorry on a delay
the Rudy McRomney line got me laughing, and I am not a Rudy guy…
WastelandMan on May 15, 2007 at 9:48 PM
It’s tough on Giuliani to defend his opinion in this room.
Vincenzo on May 15, 2007 at 9:50 PM
Fred! has been lookin’s at his schedule, and he doesn’t think he has time.
CrimsonFisted on May 15, 2007 at 9:50 PM
gee the last time Mccain reached across the ailse we got our first amendment rights beat to hell!
WastelandMan on May 15, 2007 at 9:51 PM
commonsensehoosier on May 15, 2007 at 9:47 PM
Sure, but all Fred! would need is one term. ;-) After that it’d be like Michael Moore’s kite-flying utopia around here.
Laura on May 15, 2007 at 9:51 PM
Man you GOTTA respect FOXNEWS for putting every candidate to the fire tonight. This is how you run a debate. That MSNBC crap was for the children. I think if anything, it shows the Democrats have no cajones when it comes to debating.
Vincenzo on May 15, 2007 at 9:51 PM
brownbeck hit that answer out of the park
TexasDan on May 15, 2007 at 9:52 PM
Huckabee is coming out like a star tonight!
way to defend tax hikes!
WastelandMan on May 15, 2007 at 9:52 PM
It should be. It’s not the conservative position and he is running for the nomination for President of the relatively more conservative party. Personally, I am more concerned with his other questionable positions, particularly gun control which runs absolutely contrary to his comments on why he is pro-choice, namely less government involvement in the personal life of our citizens. If thats the case, then why involve yourself in my gun collection??
RobertCSampson on May 15, 2007 at 9:53 PM
From the bit I’ve watched, they all sound like they are patronizing the audience and, basically, full of crap, with the exception of Rudy. He’s the only one who is coming across as sincere.
DaveS on May 15, 2007 at 9:53 PM
He is already at 6 places at one time, it’s hard to put a 7th place into the schedule. Heck, the rest of the candidates only manage 1 place at one time.
Tim Burton on May 15, 2007 at 9:54 PM
Sincerity = Tancredo
moreso than any other.. too bad hes not likeable
RobertCSampson on May 15, 2007 at 9:55 PM
have never liked him actually…but ’sound bytes’ thus far award goes to Huck!
dustoffmom on May 15, 2007 at 9:55 PM
they came with visas that were expired? he can’t think on his feet–mc cain is making lots of missteps. really does come across as too old.
TexasDan on May 15, 2007 at 9:56 PM
If I’m correct, he’s made no statements supporting strict gun control on a federal level. And for whatever reason, noone seems to be asking. Like you, I’m more concerned about LOSING my right to have my guns than LOSING my right to have an abortion.
Vincenzo on May 15, 2007 at 9:56 PM
McCain DOES support amnesty and so does Bush, I’d respect them more if they’d come right out and say so, the hypocrites. I’m glad Romney is holding his feet to the fire on it.
Laura on May 15, 2007 at 9:57 PM
I think its a tie between Tancredo and Giuliani for smartest guys in the room.
Vincenzo on May 15, 2007 at 9:57 PM
Also, when is Romney gonna say “This is my BOOM STICK” or “Hail to the King, Baby!”

TheBigOldDog on May 15, 2007 at 10:04 PM
rudy…money shot…
commonsensehoosier on May 15, 2007 at 10:05 PM
Actually, quick correction. He’s not in favor of national gun control. He’s opposed to it. I’m a strong Second Amendment supporter, NRA member. I can tell you, when Giuliani took office, NYC needed gun control. What he advocates, is each area making decisions on guns, or leaving it alone entirely, based on their needs. He’s opposed to federal intrusion on the Second.
amerpundit on May 15, 2007 at 10:05 PM
Thank you, Rudy Giuliani.

Damn, Brit should have let them all have 30 seconds to respond to Ron Pauls moonbattery.

Ron Paul says the 9/11 attacks were caused by america.
TexasDan on May 15, 2007 at 10:08 PM
Romney OWNED that Immigration Issue!
Now if he only will keep that promise to secure the border first when (and If) he gets in office.
WastelandMan on May 15, 2007 at 10:08 PM
Paul is toast……burnt….no butter……dropped on the floor and dragged underfoot…..
Limerick on May 15, 2007 at 10:08 PM
Paul’s a Truther? And he thinks he’s got a shot at the Republican nomination?
amerpundit on May 15, 2007 at 10:09 PM
MM doesn’t mention him being a truther? what was his quote there?
lorien1973 on May 15, 2007 at 10:09 PM
Ron Paul said we invited 911 for bombing Iraq for 10 years. Rudy got POd and slammed him. He said he heard some ridiculous explanations of why 911 happened but that was one of the most ridiculous. he asked him to retract it and say he really didn’t mean it. The crowd erupted. Paul then proceeded to say the reason the Iranians took our people hostage in 1979 was because we installed the Shaw in 1954…
TheBigOldDog on May 15, 2007 at 10:09 PM
he’s alleged it in the past, but i’d -love- an admission
lorien1973 on May 15, 2007 at 10:09 PM
Yeah Guiliani was ready for that one, he slapped it down hard. Too bad Ron is a kook on national security, I like his committment to small government.
Mitt continues to impress me.
Dash on May 15, 2007 at 10:10 PM
At least where I was living. Maybe not in other parts of the city. I’ll put it this way, the legally abiding citizens in my party of NYC, didn’t own guns, by their own will. It was the unlawful ones who did. Like I said, though, maybe it was just my part of the city.
amerpundit on May 15, 2007 at 10:10 PM
Dr. Paul just participated in his last GOP debate.
p0s3r on May 15, 2007 at 10:10 PM
Tancredo just got a slam in on Paul too – they do it Ron because it is a dictate of their religion
TheBigOldDog on May 15, 2007 at 10:11 PM
Forget silky pony. now everyone’s going to go for the biggest slam on ron Paul. the guy should not come back after the commercial break.
TexasDan on May 15, 2007 at 10:12 PM
maybe ron paul will be asked to come on the view?
commonsensehoosier on May 15, 2007 at 10:13 PM
Yup… under the wire!
RD on May 15, 2007 at 10:13 PM
That reminded me of an 80’s era WWF episode, where Ron Paul plays the patsy bad guy, and Hulk Rudy Hogan just body slammed him, and then the rest of the good-guy wrestlers ran in and pounded; all to a roaring crowd.
Vincenzo on May 15, 2007 at 10:14 PM
I was under the impression that all the Dims had boycotted this debate then lo and behold one shows up….RuPaul
abinitioadinfinitum on May 15, 2007 at 10:14 PM
I don’t mean to question you amer. I am quite sure we are in agreement on 99% of issues including gun rights. Its just that it seems you point to “unlawful” gun owners needed regulating by Rudy. That isn’t gun control. That’s following the law. Any mention of “gun control” implies government interference with the 2nd amendment which I am virulently opposed.
Also, let me make it clear that I don’t dislike Rudy or even disagree with him as much as some others. It’s just that he is not “conservative” on certain issues. Even if you argue that he is right, you still can’t say its “conservative”.
RobertCSampson on May 15, 2007 at 10:15 PM
The Confederate flag question is sooooooooooo 1999..seriously. MOVE ON!
SouthernGent on May 15, 2007 at 10:15 PM
Ron Paul has long espoused this crap..Neal Boortz regularly talks about it because the RP fan club (the same nuts Neil Cavuto was talking about today when he interrogated..I mean..interviewd RP) is RABID….Libertarians NOT Republicans…and Libs are “Fortress America” types!
I think Rudy was GREAT there but honestly Duncan Hunter has done VERY well!
How about a FRED/Duncan ticket? WINNER!
labwrs on May 15, 2007 at 10:15 PM
OK, this question is stupid, Brit.
Let them hammer Paul some more.
Sammy316 on May 15, 2007 at 10:16 PM
A big chunk of that scenario came out of a Tom Clancy novel.
McCain’s an idiot – the rest of the world hates us anyway, torture notwithstanding.
Laura on May 15, 2007 at 10:16 PM
Caused as in Clinton caused it cause he was too busy getting head from Monica (as opposed to his wife) to order a strike? Or caused because we are mean and evil?
Tim Burton on May 15, 2007 at 10:17 PM
Oooo, a torture question. McCain loses.
Lehosh on May 15, 2007 at 10:17 PM
I’m telling you I like Mitt more and more. “Double Gitmo”
Woohoo!!
RobertCSampson on May 15, 2007 at 10:18 PM
money shot mitt..”double guantanamo”
commonsensehoosier on May 15, 2007 at 10:18 PM
Double Gitmo and “enhance” interrogations…Romney just moved up in my opinion
labwrs on May 15, 2007 at 10:18 PM
- – Michelle Malkin – Couldn’t agree more. He’s boring and not there. Like a wax-museum piece.
The same, even more so perhaps is Brownback. His aloof looks, and the way he talks, and can’t really express anything cogent, remind me of Mr. Frist (who might be a good dr. but should never have become Majority Leader).
Ron Paul’s “blame America” was disgusting and Mr. Giuliani’s reaction was a big plus.
Mr. Tancredo missed his chance to relate what will happen tomorrow in Washington on immigration. He’ll regret the moment forever.
All in all more grown up than MSNBC’s kindergarten. Half the candidates shouldn’t be there.
Giuliani not bad.
Romney – stupid statement on Guantanamo “where they don’t get the lawyers they’d get here” Huh? Gitmo is good, but not because it’s far from lawyers.
Entelechy on May 15, 2007 at 10:18 PM
Good Night Mr. Ron Paul, your day and run are OVER!
186k on May 15, 2007 at 10:19 PM
Romney just did a good job – the next president needs to focus on keeping that scenario from coming to pass – exactly Mitt. Exactly.
TheBigOldDog on May 15, 2007 at 10:19 PM
McCain just isnt doing well..I love him on Defense and honor him for his service BUT..he just simply isnt Presidential material..
labwrs on May 15, 2007 at 10:19 PM
labwrs, good to see you here. Nothing like live-blogging :) Remember the primaries in Connecticut?
Entelechy on May 15, 2007 at 10:20 PM

What’ll happen to our military men when they get captured? Last I checked, they get beheaded right now.
amerpundit on May 15, 2007 at 10:22 PM
McCain is insane. He sounds like Ron Paul when he says that we shouldn’t torture because our enemies would. What world is he living in? Hasn’t he seen any beheading video?
RobertCSampson on May 15, 2007 at 10:22 PM
Caused it by having any foriegn policy at all. Back democracies against soviets or jihadis or nazis and Ron Paul thinks you’re giving the rest of the world a justification for killing Americans. Ron Paul is a Galaxy Class Moron. He’s totally out of touch with planet Earth.
The Apologist on May 15, 2007 at 10:22 PM
McCain doesn’t sound like he’s living in the real world in his response to the torture question.

Clinton hasn’t been a President for 8 years (by the time the election comes). Bush will still be in office, when the election comes.
amerpundit on May 15, 2007 at 10:23 PM
What happens when our soldiers get captured John? Well, funny you should ask, because we know. They are killed. Have their bodies mutilated and then booby-trapped. That’s what happens John! But lets be nice to them even if they do have information that would save lives…uhg
TheBigOldDog on May 15, 2007 at 10:23 PM
“I’d pull their g’damn fingernails out, one at a time, and then start on their toenails, to get that information.”
But, that’s jus’ me.

No more Bush and no more Clinton, for a long time.
Entelechy on May 15, 2007 at 10:25 PM
Does Paul also think we can fight from Japan?
amerpundit on May 15, 2007 at 10:26 PM
Thomas Jefferson’s first English language translation of the Koran proves we have been fighting Islam since the 1700’s. Correction, they have been at war with US.
