[...] Okay, that was kinda cruel and mean-spirited. And I’ll bet I’ll have Malkin and all the other wacky wingnuts after my ass too. Yeah, go right ahead and do that, why don’t you. I doubt those asshat hypocrites have ever seen the inside of a church. And perhaps they should all take a good look in the mirror at their own sorry selves. We’ve already seen how they reacted toward the passing of Paul Wellstone and Coretta Scott King. Or how their false idol Rush Limbaugh paid his last respects to Jerry Garcia and Kurt Cobain. So don’t give me that shit. [...]

<blockquote>Never cared for Falwell, but wish him well, whatever his fate. “Not casting the first stone” was a verse he often forgot. His hysterical detractors should remember it now.

profitsbeard on May 17, 2007 at 2:10 AM</blockquote>No one minds you being a Christian as long as you don't act like one. The Christians got all uppity and political in England and they ended slavery. It's amazing what Christians can do when they get political. Every president since Reagan, except Clinton (the most successful sexual predator in history) has been elected by the Evangelicals. Just like the Muslim mass murderers aren't going away in our lifetime neither are the Evangelicals.

To those who feel the need to qualify their statements of condolence with "Didn't like him", "Never agreed with him", "Thought he was too political", etc., you need to read Ann's column.

<blockquote>Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

These things I command you, that ye love one another.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

He that hateth me hateth my Father also.</blockquote>

Pictures of the "anti-memorial" remind me of every muslim or anti-American demonstration I've ever seen. Homemade derogatory signs and posters, flags (in this case rainbows) everywhere, people mock-dancing on his grave, just one big hate fest. The only things missing are a burning effigy, which is probably soon to come, and AK-47s being fired into the air.

Um, why no link to <a href="http://www.slate.com/id/2166337/fr/flyout" rel="nofollow">this one?</a>

It's from you know who, my favorie curmudgeon and author. He writes these obits everytime someone of import dies. He has been unflattering to even Bob Hope and my favorite president, Ronald Reagan. Well, if you fear offense, do not read the dismissive missive from Christopher Hitchens.

All I have to say, about Falwell was that he did it his way, and I hardly approve of his way of doing things.

[...] Falwell: Sorry to hear the man is dead, but he seems to have gone peacefully. He was never my cuppa - he was no Rev. Billy Graham - but I liked him more than Jimmy Swaggart and Pat Robinson. Hot Air watched the story from its inception and took the trouble to go find the predictable “hate” stuff. I don’t know why people go out of their way to find the hate stuff we all know is there, posted by small people with small lives, and yes, I did say the same when some on the right posted ugly on the passing of Molly Ivins. People need to grow up - everything comes around, you know. And yes, the crap you post says more about you than about Falwell. [...]

RIP Jerry Falwell. I agreed with many but not all of your beliefs, but that is likely inherent in the nature of being a Christian. You'd be the first to admit that you weren't perfect, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm not, either. No human is. "It is by grace through faith that we have been saved through Christ Jesus," and I have great confidence that you are now enjoying that promised salvation. I'll look forward to shaking your hand in hopefully five to seven more decades.

RIP blogwise, Honora. You made my eyes roll but in a respectful manner... until you decided to defacate on the grave of a great man who hasn't even been buried yet. Think about it that way, and the choice Bryan made was easy. Love him or hate him, Mr. Falwell was still a great man who did his best to live a worthy life for the benefit of others. He lived it so thoroughly that love him or hate him were the only two choices regarding him. There's a lesson here... that really should be the only way to live.

We, to draw the best analogy I can imagine for someone on the left, will surely have an ounce of respect for someone like Jimmy Carter when he goes. We'd better have that respect, anyway. Hearts require respect over minds. There's someone who we believe to be as woefully wrong on as many things as Honora and her ilk believe Falwell to have been... but he is motivated by a heart that is still in the right place... even if we think his mind is mush.

To contrast with another lefty icon, Che Guevara did many things for the benefit of others, too, but his heart ultimately was not pure. He did first what was best for himself. When anyone got in his way, he lacked a basic respect for life. I assume that pooping on his grave metaphorically is quite alright.

RIP Jerry Falwell. I agreed with many but not all of your beliefs, but that is likely inherent in the nature of being a Christian. You’d be the first to admit that you weren’t perfect, and I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not, either. No human is. “It is by grace through faith that we have been saved through Christ Jesus,” and I have great confidence that you are now enjoying that promised salvation. I’ll look forward to shaking your hand in hopefully five to seven more decades.

RIP blogwise, Honora. You made my eyes roll but in a respectful manner… until you decided to defacate on the grave of a great man who hasn’t even been buried yet. Think about it that way, and the choice Bryan made was easy. Love him or hate him, Mr. Falwell was still a great man who did his best to live a worthy life for the benefit of others. He lived it so thoroughly that love him or hate him were the only two choices regarding him. There’s a lesson here… that really should be the only way to live.

We, to draw the best analogy I can imagine for someone on the left, will surely have an ounce of respect for someone like Jimmy Carter when he goes. We’d better have that respect, anyway. Hearts require respect over minds. There’s someone who we believe to be as woefully wrong on as many things as Honora and her ilk believe Falwell to have been… but he is motivated by a heart that is still in the right place… even if we think his mind is mush.

If there's a civil Democrat leader remaining, I call on him or her to publicly chide and renounce the seething far left. Right Now. Even madrassas would seem to have nothing on the leftwing hate sites.

RIP to a legendary American.

Anyone who dares take a stand and tries to live a good life, and tries to perpetuate a life of values, morals, etc., is a target for the venomous, vindictive, arrogant, hate filled invectives of those who cannot stand the Light.

Reverend Jerry Falwell's death is a strong reminder of this. Tony Snow's illness is also a strong reminder, as are the words of hatred and perversion spewed regarding raping and abusing Condaleezza Rice and Mrs. Laura Bush, and others. Their mentally deranged approach to our President, George W. Bush, speaks volumes to their rabid temperament!

There are just some people on planet earth who seem to gather under the left wing, fifth column, liberal, Democrat side of the fence, who tend to be overflowing with vile hatred and disdain for all that is good, and who, while on one hand claiming themselves to be caring and kind, actually behave in the exact diametrically opposite manner and spew hatred and vile thoughts, words, and actions.

Rest in Peace, Reverend Falwell. Your strength and resolve is a shining example for all.

Regardless of one's opinion of his religion or politics I do think he was the real deal in a venue populated by frauds. Jimmy Swaggart, the Bakers, Benny Hinn, Peter Popoff and the guy who keeps asking for a $58 dollar seed....
Billy Graham stands head and shoulders above them all but I think Falwell was sincere. He didn't read his own press clippings as Pat B seems to have done a little too much.

<blockquote>

I, too, had my issues with many of his views, particularly what he said after the 9/11 attacks about how homosexuals, feminists, and others caused the attacks to happen. However, his sudden death today saddens me.

RIP, Dr. Falwell. My condolences to your family and to your flock.

He never said caused. He said <strong>helped<blockquote>:

</blockquote><blockquote>"I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians, who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way — all of them who try to secularize America — I point the finger in their face and say, 'You </blockquote></strong>helped<strong> this happen.'"

I can't help but wonder if he is right. After all, the Clintons were more concerned with rights for homosexual and women's right than they were about seeking out terrorists.

They were more worried about talk radio and Conservatism than they were about radical Islam.</strong>
