Video: Rosie’s newest 9/11 theories: Guilani moved steel, kept Command Control in WTC #7

On ABC’s “The View” this morning, host Rosie O’Donnell once again brought up her kooky 9/11 conspiracy theory about WTC #7, this time involving then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani. According to Big Ro, Giuliani ordered steel from WTC #7 be moved to China before any testing could be done. Pregnant co-host and conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck couldn’t help but laugh.

Later in the segment co-host Joy Behar tries to dismiss Giuliani’s heroic role in the aftermath of 9/11, saying he didn’t remove Command Control from the World Trade Center. And guess which building that was in? WTC #7! The building, according to Rosie, that “mysteriously collapsed.” This gave Ro yet another chance to explain Trutherism to the audience.

Behar suggests the show book one expert on each side of the so-called “debate.” Hasselbeck said her expert would be from Popular Mechanics.

A transcript will be available shortly. Stay tuned.

Update: Frank at IMAO:

It’s nice to see that Hasselbeck did some research since the last time this was brought up. I hope she stays true to her threat to get the Popular Mechanics guys on the show for The Big National 9/11 Conspiracy Debate (featuring Rosie O’Donnell). After they figure out whether the U.S. government bombed itself and framed Saudis to get us into an illegal war with Iraq, they can explore whether the Holocaust actually happened or did the Jews kill themselves and framed the Germans to get us into an illegal war with Japan.

Heh.

Update: Full transcript and analysis at Newsbusters.

Since when have professionals or experts or facts been credible in shedding new light (explaining painful obviousness) on anything according to the “truthers”. I’m just stunned at how the stupid chimp president that they mock so much was able to conjure such an elaborate series of events…and in doing so run intellectual circles around these people. According to them…he’s a Genius!

StoutRepublican on May 14, 2007 at 1:14 PM

There seems to be no definitive final answer to the pressing question: How stupid can Rosie get?

Tantor on May 14, 2007 at 1:16 PM

This whole truther revisionist view depends on people who know absolutely nothing about physics or metallurgy, but after reading a paranoid website for five minutes, consider themselves experts in the fields.

Also, quoting “facts” — the towers didn’t take 9 seconds to fall, they took at least 14 (depending on when you start or stop your timer). The existance of molten steel is quoted only by truthers, although there is some evidence there may have been some molten aluminum (from one of the aircraft, which could have melted in the temperatures available). The other “facts” are either wholly invented for the conspiracy, or misrepresented/misinterpreted.

stonemeister on May 14, 2007 at 1:18 PM

Good for Hasselbeck arming herself with facts figuring these idiocy would come up again (though she, probably like the rest of us, had no idea specifically about the new Guiliani/China conspiracy). She never signed on to argue craziness with someone so hostile, so again kudos for Hasselbeck rising to the occasion.

frankj on May 14, 2007 at 1:21 PM

Whatever Hasselbeck gets paid… Its not enough.

Zetterson on May 14, 2007 at 1:21 PM

With her upcoming departure, Rosie needs to continue her inane spewing of conspiracy theories in order to continue in the spotlight. She’s proven herself inconsequential and irrelevant.

dalewalt on May 14, 2007 at 1:24 PM

If Rosie needs some help against Popular Mechanics, I think the guy that verified the Bush service records for CBS News is available.

Graybark on May 14, 2007 at 1:26 PM

She will be missed. Rosie speaks truth to power, everyday. :P

Yes. But it is replaced with anti-semitism if Roseanne takes her place.

lorien1973 on May 14, 2007 at 1:27 PM

I wonder if Margaret Sanger had people like Rosie in mind when she postulated her ideas on eugenics.

darwin on May 14, 2007 at 1:33 PM

WTC 7 suffered catastrophic damage on multiple floors from falling debris. And it happened to occur on a corner of the building.

Behar suggests the show book one expert on each side of the so-called “debate.”

According to this statement, isn’t Joy admitting Rosie is not an expert?

Is that rabbit cage guy still available for booking?

fogw on May 14, 2007 at 1:39 PM

Behar suggests the show book one expert on each side of the so-called “debate.” Hasselbeck said her expert would be from Popular Mechanics.

This just gives the Truther movement more exposure (it makes me sick). What’s next - a panel to discuss whether the Holocaust was real? Whether Bush detonated the New Orleans’ levees to drown “black people”?

Rick on May 14, 2007 at 1:40 PM

Yes, have Popular Mechanics on. While they’re there have Rosie help them do an experiment testing the law of gravity.

Teacher: We’re going to test the law of gravity, just like Galileo, by dropping two objects out the window–one heavy and one light– to see which one hits the sidewalk first. Now what shall we use for the lighter object? I’m thinking of something small and square…
Class: An eraser?
Teacher: Good! And what shall we use for the heavy object? I’m thinking of something round and bouncy…

One of my greatest fears is that my father is a “Truther”.

He’s a hardcore Dem, spends hours each day on the internet on political sites like DKos & DU, etc.

That, in and of itself is disturbing enough. I’ve never had the guts to ask him if he agrees with the “Truthers”. I’m afraid he might say “Yes.”

Matticus Finch on May 14, 2007 at 2:09 PM

What will it take to make truthers understand that steel in a structure need merely bend (not become entirely molten) for a building to collapse? What will it take to make truthers understand that steel under pressure is going to be more susceptible to heat than steel in a vacuum?

tommy1 on May 14, 2007 at 2:12 PM

I’ve translated this clip:

“BUCK BUCK BUCK BAGAWK! BUCK BUCK BUCK BAGAWK!”

I have also set my internet explorer ad filter to change any video on hotair of the view to this video of the view:

I can’t take this anymore.

Vincenzo on May 14, 2007 at 2:13 PM

They need to get the people from P.M. on that show quickly. It needs to be exposed, and someone who knows what he’s talking about destoying these theories on the View would do the trick.

And why is it only Hassalbeck’s job to refute this non-sense? What about the other hosts? Don’t they have brains? Well, maybe not. This whole thing is becoming pathetic, and it’s scary to think how many people might be believing it.

forest on May 14, 2007 at 2:15 PM

Getting the Popular Mechanics guys in to totally bury those dumb *insert expletives here* Rosie and Behar would be oh so delicious. The PM guys are far to nice and reserved to really rub it in though so I further suggest a random professional wrestler come in to pile drive them on a scale model of building 7.

I refuse to watch such garbage as the View, but hopefully someone will put up a notice in advance of when the showdown happens. For that, I’ll tune in.

Hey, and what about Rudy walking on stage, pointing at Rosie, and saying “If you got something to say about me, honey, say it to my face, here and now!”

drunyan8315 on May 14, 2007 at 2:29 PM

Like Pauly said last night, “Wackado!”

and uh, she totally admitted that steel melts in this clip.
Not that I care what she thinks either way…

But… that would mean he needs to take a firm stand, right? Better run that by his campaign first.

Rosie is so totally out of touch with reality that to even comment on this is a waste of time. Why don’t people simply laugh her out of show business?

Rosie is so totally out of touch with reality that to even comment on this is a waste of time. Why don’t people simply laugh her out of show business?

I find myself checking up on what she says and making comments here and elsewhere and it’s true, I wonder why I even bother. I guess it is because more and more ignorant people believe her nonsense on tv boards or even recipe boards that I belong to so I find myself wanting to let people know she’s not all there.

I still remember how most everybody believed Clarence Thomas when his hearings were over according to the polls, but certain people treated Anita Hill as though she was right and over time the polls switched to showing she was the one who most people believed. I want to, in my own little way, make sure Rosie doesn’t go unanswered with her ignorant rantings.

deedledee on May 14, 2007 at 3:16 PM

As always, just stoppin’ by to say “toldja so”… The mainstreaming has only begun folks.

The deck is stacked against logic here, for starters because Rosie shouts everyone down, but mainly because Hasselbeck just can’t handle herself. There is one point when Hasselbeck attempts to argue back (but you can see she’s terrified) and Rosie just loudly says “no, no, no”, but someone comes out on top.

It’s going to get worse, as I’ve said, but even on the View in particular. If/when they do get “experts”, they’ll have some dopey nobody on Hasselbeck’s side so that they can question his expertise, and there will still pretty much be a clown on Rosie’s side, but he’ll come off much more sophisticated and in charge of the facts as he lies to the audience and the world.

RightWinged on May 14, 2007 at 3:26 PM

Notice how Rosie backed off having experts when Popular Mechanics was mentioned? BTW Rosie, it is not just Popular Mechanics, it was their team of experts across the country that bared witness.

And Rosie says it takes 9 seconds if free fall, and less if exploded? Gravity is gravity, whether exploded or not, it would take the same time to come down.

I do agree, we should answer her with a laugh…

Shipped all of the steel over to China before it could be tested. Tens of thousands of tons shipped to China before it could be tested. How fast could you load a couple of thousand tons of steel, half buried beneath ruble, before someone would find a piece to test.

My God, she is studid…that why we love her, so entertaining. And you know DU and Kos is just eating her up (sorry for the visual).

I agree with that. I think comments here are often far too critical on Hasselbeck generally. (For example contrast to the generosity give to Samantha Judge? in the Red-Eye thread the other day).

I rarely watch The View clips, but I did laugh out loud at the end when Rosie said that people don’t want to talk about this. Uh, she brings it up all the time; she means she doesn’t want people to talk about facts. They are scary.

Spirit of 1776 on May 14, 2007 at 3:32 PM

Utter nonsense as usual.
There is steel “scrap” from the Twin Towers all over, including a large amount in upstate NY.

There is also a large monument made out of steel from the Towers in a small town about 60 mile north of NYC perhaps Rosei can go up there and do a little testing on it!

Sheesh!

186k on May 14, 2007 at 3:36 PM

And how long will the typical Viewer be able to follow an argument by the Popular Mechanics expert (measured in syllables, not time)?

Best to start with something easier, like the moon landing debunking.

Coyote D. on May 14, 2007 at 3:37 PM

Rosie does more for the conservatives than anybody. After all, it’s these type of people who drove me out of the Dummocratic party forever. And whether they say so or not, many of them believe this crap.

foxforce91 on May 14, 2007 at 3:38 PM

According to Big Ro, Giuliani ordered steel from WTC #7 be moved to China before any testing could be done.

She forgets to mention how Rudy loaded the steel onto waiting barges himself, using the power of his mind.

but but but… what about the steel from WTC7?? That’s what was sent to Cana… errr… China!!!!!@!22211111!!

BTW is it just me or did Rosie first say that planes took down the twin towers but an explosion had to take down wtc 7 because fire can’t melt steel only to turn around and say that the twin towers fell too fast and that there was the phantom melted steel under all 3 — thereby implying that all 3 buildings were blown up?

Which is it Ro?

dead-duck on May 14, 2007 at 3:53 PM

There is steel from the WTC in many cities across the country, we could easily take small samples from each. But evil BushCo. and the wizard Karl Rove would have cleaned all the explosive debris from the steel first.

deadbackpacker on May 14, 2007 at 3:57 PM

You don’t understand. The twin towers fell because of the phantom melted steel. They were hit by planes, too, but that was just a coincidence. As for them falling too fast, perhaps Rudy was pulling on them with the power of his mind (after all, haven’t you ever wondered what happened to the man’s hair? Two words: telekinetic radiation. Google it).

It all makes perfect sense if you just slow down and stop being so damned critical about everything. Why do people insist on taking mass murders so seriously, anyway?

Blacklake on May 14, 2007 at 4:06 PM

Rosie and the 9 second theory.
A bullet fired from a gun which is 10 meters off the ground and perfectly “horizontal or parallel” to the ground will hit the ground at the same time as an object dropped from 10 meters right next to the gun.

Seems implausible but physics don’t lie Rosie, GOOGLE it!
The sheer mass of the top of the buildings falling made the resistance of anything below it negligible.

The fact that this woman believes explosives would make a building fall “quicker” is a testament to her stupidity?

Explosives don’t push the building down they only remove key elements which allow gravity to take over, kind of like if you flew a jet plane into the top third of a skyscraper removing any structural elements.

186k on May 14, 2007 at 4:27 PM

I think Guiliani moved Rosie’s brain to China. She has been missing it ever since. Ching Chong!

Mallard T. Drake on May 14, 2007 at 4:40 PM

As usual, Rosie is full of it when she says nothing hit WTC 7. The towers scooped out the face of WTC 7 when they came down. She’s wrong about the fires, too. There were fuel cells in the building which ruptured and caught fire, burning for hours. She’s wrong again when she says the steel had to be heated enough to melt before they would fail, ie 2700 degrees F. That structural steel loses half its strength at 1200 degrees F. The temperatures in the WTC just from burning office materials got to 2000 degrees F.

I can also tell you from direct observation that an ordinary fire will melt metal. When my family’s house burned down years ago, I was surprised to find that the metal skillets in the kitchen had melted into a hard puddle of metal.

And really, you don’t even need experts to debunk the lie that the towers freefell to the Earth. Take another look at the video and you can see chunks of debris falling faster than the collapse as the towers came down. The debris thrown out by the collapse is freefalling while the successive collapse of the towers lags above it. The debris thrown clear of the towers hit the ground before the towers did.

If Rosie was right, all that debris would have hit the ground at the same time as the towers hit. It did not. Case closed.

Tantor on May 14, 2007 at 4:41 PM

Tantor on May 14, 2007 at 4:41 PM

Good point, but you shouldn’t expect Rosie to know about Galileo and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. She is having enough trouble with the concept of softened/weakened structural steel. If you dropped Rosie and a baseball from the top of the tower at the same time, they would hit at the same time.

While Elisabeth is a dose of reality in that coffee-klatch of nonsense, she did show the hazards of a novice trying to debunk the 9-11 Deniers. I mean, “volcanic pressure”? Steel weakens at 290 degrees?

Sorry, Elisabeth, but you should stick to asking Rosie questions about her beliefs unless you want to spend a couple months boning up on this craziness.

Rosie mentions “Debunking the Debunkers” ?

Funny, because that book is written by a fellow by the name of David Ray Griffin, who touts the same myths about 9/11 such as hijackers being alive. He even stated a while ago that there was no airfones on Flight 77, but retracted the statement after being pointed out by the Screw Loose Change blog. Apparently he is the “fact checker” for the upcoming Loose Change.

In the book “Debunking the Debunkers”, DRG does ad-hom arguments against the PM suggesting that the editor and director of Homeland security are blood related cousins. The source? Anti-semite, David Duke’s buddy, and holocaust denier Chris Bollyn.

So it’s interesting to note that Rosie is endorsing a book by a man who made numerous errors who cites holocaust deniers to create ad-hom arguments against a respectable magazine that has the research of hundreds of experts such as firefighters and demolition firms.

I think the bullseye target for Rosie is bigger then her belt size.

I noticed it too, she actually looked scared of the thought of having real experts in physics, metallurgy, and fire sciences coming on the show to debate her on the 9-11 conspiracy BS she holds so dear …could it be she knows she would be made a laughing stock and exposed for the moron she is…me thinks so, and I’d PAY to see that show!!

I have an idea, I think they should have a benefit debate in a large venue instead of doing it on the View. Each side would assemble their respective panel and it would be moderated by an independant body (like a clearinghouse). After the debate the independant body would be given one month to research the information brought up by each panel to verify their facts and decide which panel did the best job proving their case based upon verifiable facts, then whichever panel wins the debate they get the proceeds from the ticket sales to donate to their designated charity…I think it would be a win-win, first it will put this whole 9-11 conspiracy lunacy to rest for most people with at least one functioning synapse, and a deserving charity will get some funds!

What do you say Hotair, how about it, get the word out and see if Rosie and the 9-11 “truthers” will put up or shut up!

Has anyone read the comments at YouTube under this video?

Has the world gone mad?

There are a gazillion people posting there who sound like they have been on an acid trip, as in LSD.

Is the world now insane?

They don’t even understand the concept of force, vibration, heat, flying and falling debris, etc., and how they contribute to damaging the ground, foundations, surrounding buildings, etc.

It was Mossad, Israel, the Zionists, the Jews, Bush, Cheney, and so on, who did it. Osama never did it, never claimed responsibility, that is all just a lie perpetrated by the Zionists and the US Government, Bush, Cheney, etc.

At the risk of sounding condescending, are there that many stupid people alive on planet earth at this time, or are only third graders and below posting on the Internet?

I don’t know whether to celebrate that I am not the dumbest person on planet earth, or to be afraid that so many idiots-conspiracy theorists are walking around spewing their pabulum, and putting us all at risk.
