Lol, oh man…. What next? The mi amigo the “eternal general” on Telemundo? (make sure you listen to the clip)

RightWinged on May 14, 2007 at 11:46 PM

He can conduct better than he can dance. Looks plausible, and in tune. Can’t wait for the vicious comments from the nutroots.

Entelechy on May 14, 2007 at 11:51 PM

We all know how the Liberals play Bush’s lighter moments. How dare he play “conductor” while such and such event is happening.

/puts on Liberal Glasses and….

Good to see Chimpy McConductor doesn’t care that 4 soldiers in Iraq are likely to be beheaded in internet videos soon.

Yadda Yadda Yadda.

Not too shabby

Defector01 on May 14, 2007 at 11:52 PM

Maybe he has a future. I hear Bill’s sax band is looking for a director. He’d have to start drinking again though.

Awesome, that’s my 2nd favorite song right behind the Star-Spangled Banner.

Stars and Stripes Forever! [salute, wipe tear]

As long as they don’t segue into the “Gotterdammerung“.

I glad to see the thick skinned Prez getting some enjoyment out of his final term. Despite the madness that surrounds him. I think he’s more of a humanitarian than people give him credit for.

Kini on May 15, 2007 at 12:39 AM

I still can’t believe people get paid to do that. Waving a stick to the beat. Sheesh.

Sydney Carton on May 15, 2007 at 1:07 AM

For a conductor, he followed the band very well. :-)

It doesn’t get anymore patriotic than that. George Phillip Sousa.

I was shocked at how tame some on the left’s reaction was to this, when the first thing that occurred to me upon reading about it was to make the “drinky-drinky” motion with my thumb and pinky.

wordwarp on May 15, 2007 at 2:22 AM

I like how she keeps conducting anyway hehe

It looks like President Bush actually had a little fun for a change. Good for him!

Sydney Carton on May 15, 2007 at 1:07 AM

They’re controlling the beat…not just parroting it. They also provide cues and control the volume. Basically, everything the conductor does evokes emotion from a piece. It takes a leader to get 400 people to work together for a common goal and do it flawlessly in front of an audience…remember, Congress can’t do that much.

If you like your music in something other than midi format, it has to be a little more complicated than ‘press play.’

James on May 15, 2007 at 7:58 AM

From Caption This!… conductering.

MT on May 15, 2007 at 8:44 AM

Too funny !! You can’t say the Prez doesn’t’ have a sense of humor.

Maxx on May 15, 2007 at 9:09 AM

A Boris Yeltsin moment. Well, that’s what I’m reminded of, anyway

I’ll just wait for the spin on him being a ‘conductor’, or some sort of psychoanalysis of such. I’m sure we can all see it coming..

CNN had this story also. There was a picture and a line about President Bush playing a joke on a girl playing the flute.

If ever there was a moment for a Clenis joke…

LOL. Well, every ex-President needs an interest to pursue. I thought it was rather cute actually.

honora on May 15, 2007 at 10:52 AM

awwww … thanks Ian. I posted this on a blog site and commented that I would love to see the video. Now I have:)

Stinky at the DailyKos, though.

Entelechy on May 15, 2007 at 3:10 PM

Ian called it in the caption. Cute. It’s ok to have fun now and then. I’m sure that the band enjoyed being “conducted” by the leader of the free world. And yes, he was following them, but that’s fine, they were still watching their real conductor.

Sydney Carton on May 15, 2007 at 1:07 AM

There’s a reason why the symphony doesn’t look at the conductor much during performances (and why Bush’s terrible direction didn’t matter much). The director’s work happens in rehearsals. He controls the style and content of the performance, as well as the pacing, presentation and emotion of the individual pieces. Basically, like generals in war, their work is done in preparation and only the high-level aspects of execution are handled by them during the actual performance.

For a regular good ole boy from Texas, W punches way above his weight class, has a better sense of humor than 99% of the folks on this planet, is a better Man than 98% of the males in this country, and falls behind, by his own admission, only to the exploits and travails of the average American boy serving his country in the military.

There is NO ONE on this Earth, that he admires more than his soldiers, and that they admire more than him. His sense of humor just makes him one of us.

And, in the end, at the end of the day, the end of his term, or the end of his life, that fact will be worth more than all the riches in this country. George W Bush is known as a Man among Men because he supports and believes in the US military, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who serve this country, and he knows that they can win any battle, campaign, and war as long as the American people have faith in them.

And isn’t it a pity that the only Man in public life left in America who has complete and utter faith in them is the current President of the United States? The only leader they will ever be accused by the Left of failing, is the only one who has true faith and allegiance to them. The US government political institutions embodied in Congress and most of the bureaucracies has abandoned them, lost faith in them, and actively works to undermine them and their mission. Is it any wonder they will follow W wherever he leads?

God bless you, George. You set a better example for us than anyone else in the US government. Press on, Sir.
