Video: Olbermann scoffs at the Fort Dix terror plot
posted at 6:26 pm on May 9, 2007 by Allahpundit
I’m linking this not because it’s out of character for him — it’s not — but because he’s a reliable barometer of nutroots opinion so it’ll show you where they’re at. Olby’s famously scrupulous about referring to terror plots and even the war on terror itself (per the comments here) as “purported,” not so scrupulous in extending the same courtesy to alleged massacres perpetrated by U.S. troops. Not only does he pile on the qualifiers here despite the reams of damning quotes in the criminal complaint, he ends up dismissing the whole plot as the work of harmless “morons.” Robert Cox does a bang-up job rattling off the names of other “morons” who weren’t so harmless, including and especially the moron a few weeks ago who thought he could get away with killing a few people, then hanging out for a few hours to give the cops time to find him before finally traipsing off to chain the doors of a busy campus building without anyone obstructing him so that he could kill a lot more people. While fitting in a quickie trip to the post office, too.

That’s the right moniker for him, for sure. And probably the one thing that he is consistently good at. (Hmmm, is that a good thing though??! Why, yes, it is! Tune into KO and find what wind’s direction!)

And I thought Rosie had no idea about anything….

Stupidity should be painful.

Wonder how he’d feel if these Jihadists had delivered a pizza pie to MSNBC and he got blown up? Just wondering? In our local paper the Augusta Chronicle today, they ran the front stories out of the newspaper from Philly. It rambled on and on about how these people weren’t the A-team of terrorists, they really weren’t dangerous, and how they could have killed more military at the Army-Navy game, guess the implication was shoulda woulda coulda. But in Olby’s world, hell they’re only Soldiers who are too stupid to do anything else anyway so would the world have even noticed?

It pretty much IS painful…
for those of use that have to witness it anyway.
CyberCipher on May 9, 2007 at 6:50 PM
Olberman: Like a couple guys, a rental truck, and some fertilizer can really…
***** BOOOM *****
Olberman: WHY DIDN’T THE GOVERNMENT STOP THOSE GUYS.
Seriously, if we stop them, they aren’t a threat, doesn’t mean they “weren’t” a threat… 20/20 hindsight isn’t what you use for threat assessment.
gekkobear on May 9, 2007 at 6:51 PM
Isn’t Keef Olberdouche the same idiot who went into a tizzy over some media outlets making light of his panic over some laundry soap mailed to him awhile back? I guess it matters most when it’s him or someone else he cares about (as if he actually cares about anyone BUT himself), and not American soldiers at an American military base.
Keef Olberdouche, the Moonbat Barometer!
…i like it
SilverStar830 on May 9, 2007 at 6:53 PM
Hey there Catie,
I could not agree more with you…they have to downplay this because it does not fit their agenda….we are actually in dangerous times both here and abroad.
Hope all is well with you and yours….robo

Exit Question: Keith Olberman-Reliable Barometer or Rectal Thermometer?
You make the call.
Jack M. on May 9, 2007 at 6:55 PM
What a maroon. I hope both of his viewers got a chuckle out of. I seem to remember him absolutely “freaking out” when some harmless moron sent him a harmless white powdery substance. Somebody should really play that up, he was no doubt grateful the feds investigated that.
commonsensehoosier on May 9, 2007 at 6:56 PM
It’s a good racket he’s got going. When we disrupt terrorist plots, obviously the terrorists are incompetent and weren’t a real threat, hence the ability of the idiots in law enforcement and other branches of the security businesses to catch them.
And when and if the terrorists actually do succeed again, and there’s a body count to show for it, the same parties will still be judged incompetent, because they failed to catch the plot.
What’s the word again for a belief system that’s impervious to any kind of contradicting evidence?
Blacklake on May 9, 2007 at 6:58 PM
Isn’t the surprising fact that he even covered the story?
rw on May 9, 2007 at 6:58 PM
That pretty well sums up what the liberals such as Olberdouche would do. Great comment!
Neocon Peg on May 9, 2007 at 7:01 PM
Well OF COURSE he has to believe that the morons that wanted to blow-up Ft. Dix are not a serious threat. Just like he has to believe that a moron in front of the camera at MS-NBC spouting hate-filled BS is not a serious threat.
CyberCipher on May 9, 2007 at 7:01 PM
I can only imagine who he would have been calling “morons” if they would have been successful in killing our soldiers at Fort Dix. He would have had to do a “Special Comment” segment about how the Bush Admin again, dropped the ball. And in Olbie’s dry sarcastic, boy that got beat up in school gets revenge kinda way, he would continue to spew his hate.
Worthless Sack Of Contaminated Pet Food in a Pinstripe Suit.

Jack M, you took the question right off my keyboard. That’s exactly what I was going to say.

Olbermann – meet Ayman al-Zawahiri’s new PR Meister.
Entelechy on May 9, 2007 at 7:18 PM
Without even looking at the clip (which I know will be the “same ol’, same ol’”), I can safely say “It takes one to know one,” and “What a maroon!”
kevcad on May 9, 2007 at 7:18 PM
Wow, I’m amazed, his power of deduction is stunning. What planet is he from?
Zorro on May 9, 2007 at 7:25 PM
This despicable, no talent moron could only survive on a left wing, hate mongering network like MSNBC.
rplat on May 9, 2007 at 7:45 PM
Don’t you get it? Again, Bushco has launched a pre-emptive strike against “morons” who didn’t really have a plot and weren’t that dangerous. They didn’t harm anybody. They were just playing in the fields video taping themselves. That shows that they weren’t a threat. It is obviously a further crack down on the civil rights of minorities.
************
Oooh you’re right. It is painful to think that stupidly.
Mallard T. Drake on May 9, 2007 at 7:48 PM
Super Olby…..able to talk out of both his cheeks without moving his lips………. now if only I had some red craptonite to send him…/sarc
mrfixit on May 9, 2007 at 7:59 PM
“What planet is he from?” – Zorro.
That would be OlbyPlanet. Not familiar with OlbyPlanet?
All you need to see OlbyPlanet is a halfway decent astronomers telescope and a tin-foil hat (size 5 or smaller). Just look up into the night sky and find the Big Dipper. See the handle? Now, just look a little to the right and you will see BizarroWorld.
OlbyPlanet is just a few million miles in back of that – back…and to the left. Back..and to the left…

Any word yet on whether the View has approached him to be the woman who replaces Rosie?
SisterToldjah on May 9, 2007 at 8:11 PM
Can’t wait for Sunday Night Football to get here so we can get his perpective on the oppresive nickle defense or the clear conspirarcy involving water boys and time clock operators.
LakeRuins on May 9, 2007 at 8:18 PM
To be fair, this particular “cell” of baddies probably wasn’t as serious of a threat as it’s been made out. Honestly, how far do you think they would have gotten in a fully stocked army base? MPs will jack you up for looking at them funny. And getting 6 muslim-looking men through the front gates with no credentials other than a uniform and a Pizza? That’s a plan a bit full of holes.
The scary part is that the “cell” had to be this dumb to get caught. There are small groups of similiar ideology running around who are far more capable and visionary. This “plot” wasn’t so much a threat as it was an indicator of a much larger ice berg below.
askheaves on May 9, 2007 at 8:53 PM
Don’t Olbermann and his friends often call Bush a “moron”? And look how many people he’s “killed”.
Mark V. on May 9, 2007 at 8:55 PM
“reliable barometer“?
How about “rectal thermometer“.
Why he wasn’t on that AA flight instead of Barbara Olsen still annoys me.
profitsbeard on May 9, 2007 at 8:56 PM
Okay, I agree with the morons part. They were stupid, and they got caught. The next batch of morons might be a little luckier. Their target might be a crowded shopping mall, an office building, a TV station, an elementary school.
What will Olbermann say then?
Gottafang on May 9, 2007 at 9:08 PM
Joe Scarborough was filling in Imus’s old time slot this morning (along with Willie Geist from Tucker Carlson’s show and some other guy) and they were mocking it then too. Of course, every couple of minutes Scarborough would say “we’re not making light of this” when the reality is , that’s exactly what they were doing.

The FBI should have arrested 7 morons.
Helloyawl on May 9, 2007 at 9:57 PM
Sorry. Can’t click on the video. I’ve had my minimum daily adult allowance for ‘morons’ today, so if UberDouche is labeling murderous jihadis as ‘morons’ and if the old school yard ‘takes one to know one’ is still valid, I’m just going to go to bed without watching one moron wallow in his superiority over the other morons. They’re all jihadis to me and I can no longer watch MSNBC’s jihad against this country.
pistolero on May 9, 2007 at 10:09 PM
I think in Olby’s case, the better descriptor would be ‘rectal thermometer’. It’s appropriate on several levels.
austinnelly on May 9, 2007 at 10:12 PM
This is one of the reasons why, as I pointed out in the other thread, NBC has no credibility.

Anyone who continues to watch SNF in spite of the hiring of OL’B deserves whatever they get in return.

It’s people like him that have the majority in Congress working for them. I’ve read comments on sites all day about how this is all a Republican plot. The Republicans need the war on terror to get elected according to the Dems, while they rush to turn the spotlight on the un-science of global warming.
Meanwhile, while the CIA takes samples from exhaust pipes, Americans remain targets of Islamic monsters living down the street.
Hening on May 9, 2007 at 11:23 PM
Not bad. But I prefer “rectal thermometer.”
