Video: 9/11 Truther talks WTC 7, Kerry, and the “real” bin Laden

9/11 truther Webster Tarpley appeared on “Hannity & Colmes” tonight. A quick survey of his site makes his political persuasion clear. The main topic was WTC Building 7, not the whole day’s events on 9/11, although we can assume where Tarpley stands on that issue.

However, Tarpley’s nutty conspiracy theories don’t end at Building 7. He says the “bin Laden” we know doesn’t actually exist. Instead, there are several bin Ladens, including a “troupe of CIA actors.” Whatever that means.

Both members of the dynamic duo agreed this guy’s crazy and hurts the victims of 9/11. However, last July, when interviewing truther Professor (yes, Professor) Bob Bowman, Colmesy said he was “agnostic” as to whether Bush was behind 9/11 or not. So, he was for 9/11 conspiracy theories before he was against them? Hmm.

Colmes has to be confronted on Trutherism and made to answer it openly, NOW. Agnostic doesn’t f*cking cut it.

Bad Candy on May 9, 2007 at 10:44 PM

Not the first time I’ve seen (or heard on radio) Alan taking on wackos ever further to the left that he is. Credit where credit is due.

Tony737 on May 9, 2007 at 10:46 PM

Colmsey’s botox is in his brain.

Mazztek on May 9, 2007 at 10:47 PM

Even Colmes called it “cockamamie”…

and he used the word scintilla… twice!

Opinionnation on May 9, 2007 at 10:48 PM

Never mind, sounds like he’s made up his mind that the Truther stuff is poison. Good Colmesy, I unfairly jumped the gun.

Bad Candy on May 9, 2007 at 10:48 PM

Did Colmes just say “Wingnuts”, and “cockamamie”? I hear Twilight Zone music in the background.

amerpundit on May 9, 2007 at 10:50 PM

Colmes’ normal eye doesn’t believe them. But his other eye wanders into insane conspiracy theories often.

lorien1973 on May 9, 2007 at 10:51 PM

Colmes was agnostic last year in the link. He certainly doesn’t sound agnostic in this clip.

Valiant on May 9, 2007 at 10:52 PM

When COLMES is sounding you out you KNOW you’ve got a reality problem. Dare I say it? Go Alan!

As a public school teacher I blame the public education system for morons like this Webster fellow.

Mojave Mark on May 9, 2007 at 10:56 PM

I watched this segment tonight. Wow, a guy with a Master of Humanities from Skidmore knows all about structural steel and reinforced concrete skyscrapers. Oh, and he was also a member of the LaRouche Movement. That’s quite a bona fide for the Reynolds Wrap Chapeau club.

I wanted to scream at the guy, but I wasn’t sure that the spy satellites were getting a good audio link to my house, and my kids were in bed already.

Common sense? Not anywhere in this guy’s head.

common sensineer on May 9, 2007 at 10:59 PM

I can’t believe Colmes just defended the Bush Administration. The Truther apparently thinks he knows more than the engineers, Popular Mechanics, and just about every damn intelligent person in this world.

Let’s look at it. A major group from the government spent days loading not one, but 3 towers, with a huge amount of explosives, which would’ve needed to be attached to the steel beams, inside the walls. Then all of the media groups got together and planned how they’d fake the footage. Then, at random times the CIA detonated the charges, and the towers fell. Then WTC 7 fell, at another random time, as a result of the explosives. Apparently, that’s their line of thinking.

Several thousand people, would’ve needed to be involved. The CIA, office workers, Democrats, Independents, high-ranking, low-ranking, Americans, British, Governors, Mayors, the President, everyone. Not one, not one, has actually blown a whistle, written a book, used it as political fodder for the ‘06 election, or accidentally let it slip. No one. Apparently, all the survivors, were mistaken.

So, here’s my question for these Truthers: Where did all of the victims, you allege weren’t victims, go? Their families are still here. Their co-workers are. Where are they? Hiding in some underground mill for Karl Rove?

BDS at its best. I can’t believe I agree with Colmes.

amerpundit on May 9, 2007 at 11:01 PM

OK, I am missing something here, what is the difference between this guy and the clientelle of dailykos?

JayHaw Phrenzie on May 9, 2007 at 11:13 PM

Tarpley needs serious, serious therapy. There are medications that are moderately effective and have relatively few side effects for conditions like this, that can let sufferers lead relatively normal lives without CONSTANTLY PISSING OFF everyone they come into contact with.

Oh, and FOX - putting insane people on TV is so last decade. Besides, wouldn’t it be easier just to do weekly shows from a mental ward? Or just highlight a new ranting YouTuber each week?

Merovign on May 9, 2007 at 11:15 PM

Trutherism isn’t just an annoyance. I know a married couple who may potentially split over this insanity, kids and all. They otherwise “have it all”. The truthers insist they are the ones “saving the constitution for their children”. Too bad he’ll only get to save them every other weekend. What a waste.

Buck Turgidson on May 10, 2007 at 12:02 AM

Why do they give nutballs like this air time ?

Maxx on May 10, 2007 at 12:03 AM

I would laugh and ask where do they find these people.

Then I saw an episode of the Jerry Springer show.

Reynolds Wrap must be doing great these days!

Kini on May 10, 2007 at 12:05 AM

Buck Turgidson on May 10, 2007 at 12:02 AM

Nice.

Did I mention I really despise the conspiracy kooks?

Bad Candy on May 10, 2007 at 12:05 AM

The only reason Colmes is not “agnostic” about this anymore is because Kerry is being associated with this group, whereas before it didn’t make a difference to him because the conspiracy theories only appeared to involve the Bush administration. Kerry being associated with this group means the Dems will be too, and that translates to losing many, many voters in the next election.

Rick on May 10, 2007 at 12:14 AM

Too bad he’ll only get to save them every other weekend. What a waste.

Buck Turgidson on May 10, 2007 at 12:02 AM

And that may only last until his kids are old enough to make their own decisions.

Rick on May 10, 2007 at 12:17 AM

Ameripundit-

You forgot The Jews in your compendium.

Clearly they are hiding every “9/11 victim” somewhere in the West Bank.

Barbara Olsen is sequestered in the sealed-over White House FDR swimming pool, along with 7 tons of Niger yellowcake, and Osama Bin Laden.

Oh what a tangled web Truthers weave…

profitsbeard on May 10, 2007 at 12:19 AM

If you run into a Truther beat the crap out of em, and when the cops show up say it musta been a “troupe of CIA actors” that did it. Because no true patriot would beat the crap out of some useful idiot seeking answers to their inane questions.

Neo on May 10, 2007 at 12:22 AM

Anyone who has watched a demolition on the discovery channel would realize this guy is off his nut. It takes hundreds of wires connecting the explosives to detonate in the exact order at the exact time to bring a building down. If one charge fails to go off, the demolition will fail. How in goodness name could all the wire connections survive the damage to WTC 7?

My wife was yelling at Hannity to shut this idiots mike off. I told her that crazies like this guy need to be allowed to speak so they can be shown for the kooks they are.

csdeven on May 10, 2007 at 12:40 AM

100 years ago lunatics like this were in asylums, now they’re writing books and on TV. Something to be said for the good ol’ days.

infidel4life on May 10, 2007 at 12:46 AM

And the mainstreaming I predicted rolls on… and as always, the Truther side comes out on top when debating idiots like O’Reilly and Hannity who haven’t studied the Truthers’ claims and the debunking of the claims to destroy these people. When this stuff gets mainstream attention and people hear it for the first time, what do you think they do? A lot will just not pay a lot of attention, though the seed has been planted. However many others will buy the guy’s book and start searching the internet. What do you think they’ll find? The debunking? Or the lies and half truths of the Truthers and sadly we are an all to gullible people who don’t expect to be completely lied to. They will read the “points” raised by Truthers, and without anyone sitting there showing them each individual point being debunked, they’ll be sucked it.

As always “toldja so”… The mainstreaming will continue to grow and we’re headed for roughly half the country being some form of Truther.

RightWinged on May 10, 2007 at 1:00 AM

This guest is a real piece of work. Glad to see he was both Hannitized *and* Colmesized this evening.

RD on May 10, 2007 at 1:08 AM

So sick and tired of this crap. There are hundreds and hundreds of hours of unedited video of the massacre. But we can’t show that……..it is too much horror, it will cause nightmares, it will make us want to kill people….no….lets hide it and sterilize it….make it easier to swallow…..that is why these idiots have legs, because the media will do anything to undermine this war including forgetting all those who died in the towers and how they died and why they died.

Limerick on May 10, 2007 at 1:08 AM

Agree Rightwinged that some high-level tokens/symbols of this quackery need to be publicly eviscerated, devastated, buried, in major prime time for all to see. Or else…

And by someone not associated with the VRWC, so that “credibility” is actually imputed by the stunned onlookers from the media.

RD on May 10, 2007 at 1:15 AM

Like I said before - the Dems are running from the libs and the libs are running from the nutcases and anarchists. I just keep lumping them all in together. It’s fun.

Connie on May 10, 2007 at 1:19 AM

Because of all the interntional exposure given the Truthers by the MSM, the “conspiracy” is now considered to be at least a possibility by a plurality of Americans and, at least as important, by most of the rest of the world. This is about promoting their socialist agenda, nothing else.

Halley on May 10, 2007 at 1:20 AM

Tarpley was also one of the big promoters of Operation Bite. Whatever happened to that orchestrated attack on Iran?

John on May 10, 2007 at 1:34 AM

Then, at random times the CIA detonated the charges, and the towers fell. Then WTC 7 fell, at another random time, as a result of the explosives. Apparently, that’s their line of thinking.

amerpundit on May 9, 2007 at 11:01 PM

Dude, don’t you get it? First, there was absolutely NOTHING random about how/when those towers fell. It was all determined beforehand. Check the Torah, dude. It’s in there.

As for WTC 7, it wasn’t supposed to be so late, it was supposed to be precisely 27mins18s after the second tower (according to the code). The problem is, the demolition failed.

There Cheney was, all sitting there in his undisclosed location (which is inside Honest Abe’s left nostrel at Mt Rushmore, or so I’m told) giggling like a schoolgirl as he pushed the plunger on the big square detonator box with “DANGER” written in white letters (like the ones in the bugs bunny cartoons — ever notice how many explosives are always hanging around in those? Random sheds marked “DANGER TNT”? Well, hello! The writers were trying to tell us something! They knew way back then that this was in the works. Random hidden explosives, just waiting to be discovered, but no, the sheeple are too blind to see them. Hidden in plain sight)

But anyway, Cheney was all happy with the first two detonatons, then at the precise time he pushed plunger 3 and nothing happened. You don’t even want to know how many agents were killed beause of that little screwup. Anyway, the reason it fell after 5PM is that it took them hours to track down the bad wire and detonate the thing. Once they found and corrected it, they were able to detonate and down came building 7.

It’s perfectly logical.

Speaking of Mt Rushmore, ever notice how we managed to have 4 presidents whose likenesses completely match those seen on an ancient rock? The Patsy Stage Co was sending out lookalike actors waaaaaaay before ole Benny Laden came into the public eye.

dead-duck on May 10, 2007 at 1:37 AM

What’ all the Fuss about? I’ve got the REAL bin Laden stashed in by basement, right next to Fidel and Jimmy Hoffa.

But if I tell anyone that, they’ll think I’m crazy; this guy says even crazier stuff, and he is being taken Increasingly Seriously, goes on TV, etc.

Janos Hunyadi on May 10, 2007 at 2:08 AM

OK, I am going to show my age and geekness here, but this post made me think of the Star Trek Episode, “The Corbomite Maneuver”, where the aliens were tiny and puny looking, but had a giant evil looking puppet threaten the enterprise.

So, if these guys are right, then is there an animatronic Bin Laden and Al Zawaheri (or however you spell that crappy name) that they crank up to release videos periodically?

I am just saying that we need to ask this question?

JayHaw Phrenzie on May 10, 2007 at 2:35 AM

Limerick I wonder if this moratorium by the press is intended to last forever or if they think of it as more of a “cooling off” period with some finite end. Whichever it is, it would be nice if they let someone know!

Anyhow: as swell as it’s been pretending the footage doesn’t exist these past 5 years, it’s time to push hard to release it. Even those who are behind the censorship “for our own good” ought to concede we’ve already passed the point where releasing it into the public domain would have the detrimental effect to society they seem to fear: Al Jazeera-style footage loops, hysterical “reprisal” attacks against the local Haji-marts, pandemonium in the streets, and so on - basically, whatever their minds can conjure up to patronize flyover country.

Would also hate to see the footage disappear entirely when some NBC building gets bombed in the next terrorist attack.

RD on May 10, 2007 at 2:55 AM

And we put sick dogs to sleep?

Viper1 on May 10, 2007 at 6:30 AM

Why did he even receive a platform from which to spew his crap? I agree it’s important to shut these nuts down, but this is giving these guys some sort of validation. Thank goodness they at least treated him with the disdain he so deserves.

SouthernDem on May 10, 2007 at 8:04 AM

Was that from SNL?

Wade on May 10, 2007 at 8:33 AM

Why is someone like this on a national TV show?

I mean, I understand why. But if Hannity and Colmes really want to express outrage with his positions, don’t have him on the show.

asc85 on May 10, 2007 at 8:49 AM

‘Twas nice to see Colmes actually getting combative about anything

Oh, and

“Webster, Webster..” It’s like a built-in insult!

Reaps on May 10, 2007 at 8:56 AM

We had a Tarpley on the Dallas Mavericks. He was a drunk and a drug addict! Hmmmmm, must run in the family!

RightWinged on May 10, 2007 at 1:00 AM

I have to disagree with you RightWinged, not because I think you are wrong…but because I have to think you are wrong, I just don’t want to believe my fellow Americans are as stupid as they are proving.
I laugh at these guys, and 1/3 of the country actually listen to these freaks. My head spins.

BTW, good job on taking care of “cupcake”.

right2bright on May 10, 2007 at 10:33 AM

Guy was a total nutjob. As for Colmes, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

coyoterex on May 10, 2007 at 11:28 AM

Webster Tarpley’s hatred of the Bush family goes way back. He co-wrote an unauthorized biography of George H.W. Bush with Anton Chaitkin that’s a big favorite of the paranoid class. I suspect his Trutherism stems from this hatred.

jaleach on May 10, 2007 at 12:14 PM

Does it bother anyone else that people like this are permitted to walk around loose on our streets?

If we all dismiss the danger and/or resign ourselves to a position of helplessness, let me remind you that that is precisely what a lot people did at Virginia Tech. This guy MUST be taken off of the streets before he hurts somebody.

CyberCipher on May 10, 2007 at 12:20 PM

However, Tarpley’s nutty conspiracy theories don’t end at Building 7. He says the “bin Laden” we know doesn’t actually exist. Instead, there are several bin Ladens, including a “troupe of CIA actors.” Whatever that means.

This reminds me of a show I used to watch, “La Femme Nikita”. Not the world’s greatest writing or anything. Just a good action show. Anyhow, they were a secret, underground organization that was in control of everything. When they needed to distract people, they’d call up “Saddam Hussein” (aka an agent that they had put in place a long time ago) to stir things up.

The ‘troooooothers’ conspiracies are nothing more than rip offs of bad tv show plots and have far more holes in them. That 1/3 of the US is willing to at least ‘entertain’ what they are saying makes me very sad indeed.

JadeNYU on May 10, 2007 at 12:30 PM

Dress that kook in drag and he’s the perfect Rosie replacement (I mean Tarpley, not Colmes).
