Watching this is like finding out the girl you have a crush on is a racist. It’s Samantha Judge, gossip reporter for Maxim radio and recurring RE guest. She’s young, cute, bubbly, and fits in well on the show. She’s also, evidently, an imbecile. There’s nothing Gutfeld could do about it either except look disappointed. Sad. And needless to say, it shows once again how mainstream this garbage has become.
Note that even Judge is savvy enough to present her idiocy in the guise of “discussion” and keeping an open mind. Cindy Sheehan said the same thing when she was asked about 9/11; so did Rosie, actually, her infamous comment about fire not being able to melt steel notwithstanding. The “open mind” dodge is either Trutherism 2.0 or it’s the standard version edited for content when the cameras are on to avoid the stigma that comes with being known as a full-blown, balls-out conspiracy theorist. Sad, sad, sad.
Thanks to Jack M. for the tip.
Update: Jack says Samantha must go. Unlikely.

It’s a cliche, but an appropriate one in this case: Her mind is so open that her brain fell out.
Bryan on May 8, 2007 at 7:59 PM
My God. Trutherism really is going mainstream. The fringe is no longer the fringe. It, too, is mainstream.
Allah, who is the British guy who was trying to tell some simple truths to the Truther?
SisterToldjah on May 8, 2007 at 7:59 PM
Levy tried to explain it to her (either at half time or at the end of the show) but she wasn’t buying it. He was so pained that she wasn’t getting it. Maybe he can make an effort to tutor her one-on-one about the facts of

I think another cliche fits here, too: the dumb blonde cliche. And I say that as a blonde.

That’s Kevin Godlington, another recurring guest. He used to be British special forces.

Since I don’t know (meaning I can’t understand) then it stands to reason that nobody else could possibly know or understand either…{so says the loony left}

I am so sick of that lame “it’s about inquiry” dodge and it’s ugly twin sister “this is what a democracy is all about” dodge.
Sometimes crazy is just crazy.
If I went around telling people that Girl Scout cookies were full of mind control poisons that force us to continue buying them, I would be crazy. No one would respect it if I said, “Hey, I’m just trying to keep the discussion open. This is what a democracy is all about.”
LOL…I’m having the worst time typing ‘democracy’ after watching that video. I keep typing ‘democrazy’; although, I suppose it fits.

It seems to me that conspiracy theories often are the result when someone’s preconcieved notions disagree with the the known facts.

British Special Forces are quickly becoming my favorite of all non-US special forces.
I can add Kevin Godlington to my list next to Bear Grylls (from Discovery’s Man vs. Wild).

Maybe we’re the weirdo’s, guys. Maybe we’re the idiot lemmings. Us, scientists, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, chemists, aerospace engineers, pilots, eyewitnesses, search and rescue folks, the police, fire and federal response teams: all flaming morons.
I’m just putting that out there. For the discussion.

RedWinged Blackbird on May 8, 2007 at 8:17 PM
Later he made viewers aware she is a hot feminist.
She seemed pleased. And so she made her eyes do that sparkle-y thing. It was cute.
Stephen M on May 8, 2007 at 8:18 PM
The poll is always asked as:
“Do you believe Bush knew about the 9/11 attacks in advance?”
I don’t believe the idiots answering “yes” have actually thought through that an affirmative answer requires Bush’s complicity in the attacks.
I hope I’m wrong and they are knee-jerking.
Valiant on May 8, 2007 at 8:19 PM
The Truthers are just in denial that there are actually people out there, who want to kill us. It’s impossible that several hundred, nay, thousand people knew about this in advance, and no one’s written a book, told Congress, or leaked it to the media.
amerpundit on May 8, 2007 at 8:19 PM
You… wait, you guys have watched this show before, haven’t you?
Finding out this chick is a Truther leftard should be about as shocking as the discovery that your 43 year-old unmarried hairstylist uncle who sings showtunes and drives an Audi is gay.
ScottMcC on May 8, 2007 at 8:20 PM
I’m thinking the same thing. The poll asks if people thought he knew about it. I think many people answer, because they think he had intelligence suggesting it would happen. Not that he ordered military planes to fly into the towers.
amerpundit on May 8, 2007 at 8:20 PM
You mean they are not? Then WHY oh WHY do I still have Thin Mints in my pantry? And I will until the Second Coming? And will buy Thin Mints again and again and again and again, year after year after year after year until death do us part.
CrimsonFisted on May 8, 2007 at 8:20 PM
Lucky!
One of the worst things about being a single girl in her 20’s (in my opinion) is that I’m at just the right age to not have any friends/siblings/etc with Girl Scout aged girls that will sell me thin mints. No one lets their girls sell door to door in the city, so no chance of that either. :(
JadeNYU on May 8, 2007 at 8:23 PM
Because you haven’t tried the Butter Cookies yet.
RedWinged Blackbird on May 8, 2007 at 8:26 PM
Since I’m, well, used to be blond, but now more gray, a good blond joke could be used here, but suffice to say…
The lights are on, but there’s nobody home.
Seriously, this conspiracy theory BS is getting out of control. It angers me to no end with people like this. I cheapens the lives lost. They’ve forgotten about Shanksville PA, The Pentagon, and all the video evidence on the twin towers.
The Insanity is Maddening.
Double negatives included.

Jade, there are enough folks in my office with daughters who are girl scouts that we can keep you supplied for the rest of your life.
Mr. Bingley on May 8, 2007 at 8:36 PM
Yeah, “We haven’t really had a simple explanation for 9/11 yet…” Oy. Although in Samantha’s defense, you have to keep in mind that when it happened, she was in 6th grade.
Jim Treacher on May 8, 2007 at 8:38 PM
Sounds nice! Everyone here that has kids either has kids that are too young or would never consider putting their girls in a program like Girl Scouts (I think it’s a hippie thing). All the other people are childless.
I suppose this should be my final post about girl scout cookies before I get the banhammer.
Back on topic: If I had a show like RE, I’m not sure I could bring a guest on that had been exposed as a Truther. Even if it were for a different topic, in the back of my mind, I’d be thinking, “How can a listen to anything this person says? They’re a nutjob!”

Two words for Truthers: Popular Mechanics.
Why doesn’t everyone respond with that when Truthers “discuss” 9/11?

The e-mails won’t start flooding into FNC/Maxim any time soon since way too many dumbasses either agree with her or are too busy typing: “I don care cuz shes teh hawt!!1!!” with their one free hand.

ew.
Mr. Bingley on May 8, 2007 at 9:20 PM
I think it is almost inevitable, at this point. We are headed towards Civil War. I think we’re very close to the point-of-no-return, if we haven’t crossed it already. There is a larger and larger element of the country that is certifiably insane, and they’re convinced in the complicity of the U.S. government in the murder of 3000 of its citizens. At the will of the Joooz, no less. Everything revolves around this point of view.
And it’s only getting worse. If I were to prognosticate, I’d bet that, if a Republican wins in ‘08, we will see rioting in the streets. Paris would pale in comparison. All of our major cities will face martial law. And we may not recover.
Maybe I’ve gone into the loony bin, but I feel strongly that our country’s soul is sick. Perhaps fatally. I think it’s too late. Which saddens me.
nukemhill on May 8, 2007 at 9:25 PM
Yep, I too think it’s unlikely that Samantha will be dropped.
But I think it’s important that people raise public objections to “trutherism” if only to deny it the veneer of casual acceptance.
Thank you for the link, Allah.

No. I found it. Deeply disturbing. Did Schwarzenegger know? Did he?
PRCalDude on May 8, 2007 at 9:38 PM
PRCalDude on May 8, 2007 at 9:35 PM
Sure, but they should be made to back it up, not permitted to dismiss it out of hand on some BS. We should demand they explain why PM is wrong, no matter who’s related to whom!! I’m like a pit bull on that; I kept hammering the one Truther I know with it every time he brought it up until he stopped talking about it in front of me. If we can’t bring them back from the dark side, at least we can make the STFU.

Right. It voids all logical rules. It is a logical necessity that if a scientist is related to chimpy’s regime, his argument is invalid.

SisterToldjah on May 8, 2007 at 10:20 PM
“Imbecilen!” (Respect to the first person that get’s that reference. Hint: “Boxen!”)
On a serious note, I like her generally as a guest, but Allah is this the first indication you’ve had that she’s an imbecile? She says A LOT of stupid things on there, worse than you might expect out of a college freshman after a semester of political science at any major university in this country. She usually sticks to sex jokes and tabloid stuff, but when she talks about “issues”, she says some of the stupidest stuff (and infuriating because they don’t always have time to knock her down because of the show’s fast pace)
“Needless to say”? I didn’t agree to that! I’ve been saying, and as annoying as I may be, I’ll keep saying “I toldja so!” I’ve been saying this for a long time (and thinking it for at least a year or so). This will be very mainstream, to the point where roughly half of the country will be at least mildly a Truther within a matter of years, and don’t be surprised if eventually there are Senate/House “investigations”. I’ve been especially repeating this sine Rosie started it up, though I expected that to set the ball rolling a little quicker than it did.
I expected the cable news shows to begin debating it, and what’s annoying is that whenever it’s brought up to Hannity or O’Reilly, etc. they haven’t studied the Truther material and the debunking material to make an informed case and hammer these clowns in to the ground. Instead they just dismiss them as kooks (which they are), while these kooks “ask their questions”.
These questions seem intriguing to people who haven’t invested time hearing the Truther “points”, and then hearing them trashed because they are based on lies and half-truths, and all the “questions” have been answered. But kooks or not, when they raise these “questions”, and mainstream anchors can’t argue and just call them “kooks” it makes the kooks seem like the ones who’ve brought the goods to the debate.
Again, toldja so, and it’s only going to get worse.

PRCalDude on May 8, 2007 at 10:48 PM
AP, I highly disagree. She’s not cute nor bubbly. I could show you any one of thousands of everyday women who are actually cute. She is not. That’s just a lot of makeup.
And no Truther gets the title bubbly. As soon as you start spouting about “Keeping an Open Mind” to obvious and visible physical truths like what happened to the WTC towers, you lose bubbly and turn to nutty.
JeffB. on May 8, 2007 at 11:07 PM
The truthers … do they believe that 7/7 was a conspiracy as well? 3/11? Bali? [Insert Israeli city here]? Or is it the position of truthers that those were all committed by Islamic terrorists while 9/11 alone was a conspiracy by the American government to frame Islamic terrorists?

He may be a Democrat, but I like Ellis Henican.
He was my favorite character on Sealab 2021 on Adult Swim, as well.

Cliffhanger,
I really do watch Red Eye! I like the show.
And I think this is the first time anyone has ever accused me of being Allah.
Which is pretty funny, since my restarining order prevents me from getting with 100 yeards of MM. :)
Jack M. on May 8, 2007 at 11:14 PM
I’m not sure about all of those, but they do believe that 7/7 was part of the conspiracy. You have to understand, the real Truthers believe it’s not just “Bush”, they just believe he’s part of the Illuminati, which is made up of all sorts of world leaders and businessmen, hell bent on controlling all of us. They believe this goes back hundreds of years and includes things like the Knights Templar, Free Masons, etc. They still think that Free Masons are involved, as well as Skull and Bones, as well as the Bilderberg group, the Council On Foreign Relations, Project for the New American Century, etc. etc.
Step in to Alex Jones’ world if you dare.

TRUTHER ALERT!!
I went to the local 7-11 an hour ago and the guy in front of me was talking with the clerk. They were in agreement that Jeb Bush was placed into the Governors office to take care of any election problems for GWB in Florida. “Jeb gets put into office and BAM! the votes come out for George.”
I should have kept my mouth shut, but had to ask him how exactly one is “put” into office. I was looked at with utter disgust and told “YOu know that shit happens. It happens all the time”! I thanked him for clearing that up for me, paid for my smokes and got the hell out of there.
The nutroots are in our communities. Be on the lookout.
BacaDog on May 8, 2007 at 11:46 PM
I wish I could agree with you forged rite, but I don’t think it’s close to its plateau, I think it’s still in it’s infancy. As I explained a couple comments of mine back (RightWinged on May 8, 2007 at 10:25 PM), I believe we’re headed for roughly half of the country in a few years, maybe 10 years even, but it’s my opinion that this is in our future.
As for Marsden, yeah she’s decent to look at, but as many noted (even though originally I wasn’t going to touch it until others let the cat out of the bag here), she’s a kooky false rape accuser and convicted stalker. And really, she’s not the kind of conservative we want representing us, partly because her jokes are unbelievably bad and she doesn’t fit on that show at all (not a quick enough wit, can’t keep up, and gets defensive when the fellas take jabs at her, instead of rolling with the punches and using self deprecating humor), but she’s also pro choice to an extent (if not full blown, I’m not sure), and very anti-gun, among other things.
RightWinged on May 8, 2007 at 11:50 PM
Yup.
billy on May 9, 2007 at 12:06 AM
Heh, I’ve always liked the British guy. First time I saw and heard him on RedEye he said Rosie O’Donnell should be boiled alive in a vat of her own urine, or something to that effect. Bout killed me.
As for the Truther girl, yeah, Allah about says it, be like finding out she was a racist or holocaust denier or something.
Bad Candy on May 9, 2007 at 12:16 AM
Okay people, take a step back. Sam’s not a “truther,” at least not in the way I think of those schmucks. To me “truthers” are people with a political agenda who willfully choose to ignore reality because of this agenda - or because their Mommy didn’t love them enough, or whatever. (I don’t really care, since they’re beneath contempt.)
Sam’s horribly, horribly wrong about this and some other political things because she’s, well, not political. It’s not her bag, baby.
Understand that my point is not to defend her position, which I couldn’t abhor more. But lumping her with the Alex Joneses of the world just doesn’t scan. She fits better with the people I think RightWinged is (correctly) talking about, the ones who’ve been raised in a fantasy land of moral relativism in which all opinions are valid and all facts are open to discussion.
(By the way, RW, I bought two boxen of donuts!)
Levy on May 9, 2007 at 12:24 AM
You need to be political to have a first-grade grasp of what happened on the most important day of our lifetimes?
Allahpundit on May 9, 2007 at 12:26 AM
I didn’t know that, but looked it up and sure enough, you’re right. Oh well, at least she looks good. As for the truthers, i just think that once Bush leaves office, all the energy will go out of it because they won’t have their “villian” anymore that’s necessary for these conspiracies to have momentum. But you never can tell with conspiracy nuts, so you may be right.
forged rite on May 9, 2007 at 12:26 AM

She’s a three-catter.
One, you put up with easy.
Two, if she’s hot enough you pet the dam things then give ‘em a good kick when she’s not looking.
But Three? Not even Jessica Alba is worth putting up with three cats.
Trutherism = Three cats.
billy on May 9, 2007 at 12:28 AM
Completely unlikely.
Levy on May 9, 2007 at 12:34 AM
Okay.
But if she had said, without any sense of irony, ” Black people can’t swim” or “Bill Clinton ran cocaine outta of Arkansas’ Mena airport” or… you get the point.
Would she still be invited back?
billy on May 9, 2007 at 12:43 AM
Nobody’s apolitical–just look how defensive she got when someone dissed feminism. So she’ll stand up for that political subject but a firm stance in favor of the Al Qaeda theory of 9/11 is too esoteric for her?
The problem isn’t that she’s not into politics, it’s that she’s not terribly smart while she is callous and shallow, and that’s an unfortunate combo when a sensitive topic like 9/11 happens to come up.
Alex K on May 9, 2007 at 12:48 AM
Unfortunately, AP, I think that thanks to our simply lovely educational system, these days you need to be political to have a first-grade grasp of the fact that there is such a thing as objective truth - e.g., we’re at war with barbarism disguised as a culture; these barbarians want to utterly destroy us; some of those barbarians planned and executed 9/11; Che Guevara was a murdering thug, not a “romantic” revolutionary; Bush is not Hitler; Cheney is not Hitler; Rove is not Hitler; Rumsfeld was a turd; carbon offsets are a sad joke; Fluffy McNutter is to be worshipped.
Y’know, the basics.
Levy on May 9, 2007 at 12:48 AM
Eh, I can kinda see that, but I dunno, like Allah says, first graders can figure it out. It takes some willful ignorance to even ‘have an open mind’ about 9/11 conspiracy theories, and that is where I’ve gotta be critical on her, engaging in that kind of willful ignorance is extremely dangerous, it makes you unable to accept and deal with the situation at hand, it can and does get innocent people killed.
Bad Candy on May 9, 2007 at 12:52 AM
We could scare up plenty of people less educated than Sam who can give us the basics about 9/11. She’s a sweet kid, I’m sure, but there’s really no excuses for her here.
Allahpundit on May 9, 2007 at 12:52 AM
If you’re under the age of 50, you’re a product of our “lovely” education system; that’s really no excuse.
billy on May 9, 2007 at 12:54 AM
True enough, which I guess sorta roundabout answers my 12:52, but I’d say Rummy was more of a scowling jerk than a turd.
Bad Candy on May 9, 2007 at 12:57 AM
The other key phrase of this wretched pantomime is: “…and there’s a lot about X that we don’t know.” As in:
“… And there’s a lot about Girl Scout Cookies that we don’t know.”
Yes. After all there’s a lot about us, scientists, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, chemists, aerospace engineers, pilots, eyewitnesses, search and rescue folks, the police, fire and federal response teams we dcn’t know.
RD on May 9, 2007 at 12:58 AM
Indeed you’re right about the folks I was talking about Levy, though I would take it a little step further… She’s not a “Truther” in the sense that she’s not full blown, running around with these groups… But I believe you could show her Loose Change and push her over the edge easily. She might still keep relatively quiet about it for fear of looking like a kook, but I think all she needs is a nudge to be a consumer of what the Truthers are selling. It’s not just her though, as I said, there are tons of these people all around us and we’re headed down the road to half the country being Sam Judges at the very least. “Truther lite” might be a good name (I would use AP’s Truther 2.0, but I think he just means that’s the latest type of full blown Truther, where as Sam and others are looking to be drawn in)
And congrats on getting my reference. I’m sad that no one else got it though, so I’ll repeat and see if anyone else cares to take a stab at it:
btw Levy, to be clear.. you didn’t just get the “Boxen” part, you know that imbecilen comes from the same thing, right?
RightWinged on May 9, 2007 at 12:58 AM
Bad dye job. Not all that great looking. Dumber than a bag of hammers.
How many times have you guys seen this movie, and you’re still surprised by the ending?
Jaibones on May 9, 2007 at 1:04 AM
Sigh.
I’m not defending what she said, nor am I excusing it.
I’m simply saying that she’s not an Alex Jones-style Truther.
And AP, I agree with you that you could scare up a number of people less educated than Sam who could give you the basics on 9/11. That’s sort of my point - I don’t know this for a fact, but I’m willing to bet that the majority of people who believe Bush had knowledge of or was complicit in the events of 9/11 have more education than those who don’t. (See: socialism, communism, gun control, faith in the UN, hatred of Western Civ, et. al.)

True also, but to defend Levy, even though the less with it you are, the more likely you are to be sucked into stupid conspiracy theories, you can find dumb people that don’t buy it, and there will be otherwise smarter people who buy into the conspiracy crap.

Oh, and Godlington was wrong on last night’s show Levy… Hundreds of people wouldn’t have to have been “in on” 9/11…. THOUSANDS would have. Down to cell phone company employees to help produce the fake calls, or call shenanigans if the real records don’t exist. Air traffic control would have to have been involved. Airport security would have to have been involved in creating the fake Atta surveillance tape (otherwise they’d blow the whistle on the Bushinati for creating it). Some of the conspiracy theories involve one plane (can’t remember which off hand) landed in Chicago. How many people would have to be covering that up? Not to mention it’s not like Bill Kristol and Rumsfeld themselves were dressed as ninjas planting explosives in the Twin Towers, WTC 7, and the Pentagon. These would require teams of experts. All the witnesses, especially those who saw the plane right over their heads on the highway hit the Pentagon… where they taken in and brainwashed to give those accounts? How about the “no debris or bodies in PA (despite accounts to the contrary). Were the hundreds of people involved in the investigation and clean-up at that site “in on it”.
That’s not even the half of it, but you get where I’m headed. Obviously I’m not knocking Godlington, I just remember thinking “Hundreds!? Try thousands!”, because I wanted to pile on Sam at the moment he was saying that.

Yep. (BR)
And I agree with you about “Loose Change.” I’ve had fights with friends who are otherwise intelligent who fall for that crap. Ditto for “Fahrenheit: 9/11.”
I wish we would stop calling these people “truthers,” though, as I refuse to type it without quotes, which gets annoying.
Can’t we call them Falsers?? Or maybe Liarers??
Levy on May 9, 2007 at 1:12 AM
Can you prove that?

OT:
Tomorrow night’s Red Eye will feature Christopher Hitchens and Larry The Cable Guy, among other guests.
I am the first person in the history of the world to write that sentence.

Nice, I’m still sad that no one else here got it. “Good eye Brian”
I won’t even watch F911. I watched Bowling for Columbine in the theaters with a friend who had just heard about a documentary on the shootings. I was not at all political when I watched it, but there was so much glaring spin and questionable assertions in it that I left feeling really odd about it. I went home and found debunking of much of it, including documentation of how he spliced certain clips together to tell an entirely different story, the Heston parts especially (two speeches portrayed as one made him say things he never actually did)
Moore wasn’t that well known at the time, but that experience left a bad taste in my mouth. A while after F911 came out I discovered Dave Kopel’s thorough debunking, which further confirmed my suspicions. Now even some former supporters discovered that he actually cut scenes of Roger Smith talking to him from Roger & Me, because it would have totally undercut his “chasing around Roger” theme. Sadly the makers of the documentary on Moore are still moonbats who like to push the “650,000 civilians killed in Iraq” (I saw them make the comment, among others, basically unchallenged on FNC)
That’s what they call just “asking the questions” and Sam calls “having a discussion”.

Levy,
First, your segments on the show are great. If I had one change I could make to Red Eye’s format I’d swap you for Bill on the main panel, and then I’d assign Bill the “Halftime” segment. I would then cancel the Halftime segment.
OK..that’s two changes.
As for Ms. Judge’s comments, I think it’s an example of a “gaffe” in which she accidentally revealed what she really believes. This isn’t really an instance in which you can keep an open mind about the facts of that day; it’s more of an either/or situation. You either accept that 19 terrorists flew into the buildings, or you accept the premise that the Government was in someway complicit. There really isn’t much room for a middle ground position.
And to the extent that she is able to appear on the show and “mainstream” trutherism, I think that’s a shame. These lunatics deserve scorn and shunning, not a regular appearance on an otherwise entertaining show.

Lol, oh man, that will be….. odd? I’m not as big a fan of Hitchens as some others around here. He’s done some good (i.e. during the Danish cartoon situation), but he’s done some dumb stuff, IMO, as it pertains to NSA surveillance, joining forces with the ACLU and Greenpeace.
And I don’t know about you, but I love Larry the Cable guy… but I’m not sure how he’ll do in that venue. He always likes to stay in character in public (from what I’ve seen), but I’m not sure how he’ll be discussing the issues of the day (or weird animal stories). Can’t wait to see it though.
