He said in an early interview that if he runs it will be an unorthodox campaign. That he will engage non-traditional media, and traditional media in new ways. This tells me that he clearly understands how exposure translates into awareness of who he is and what he thinks. That’s what campaign dollars do above all else, and if he can get the same thing (or more) done without spending his supporter’s hard earned dollars, those dollars will be better spent elsewhere. Sounds like a plan to me.

If he should choose not to run, I’ll go back to telling you all that Tancredo and Hunter are the only real conservatives available on the list. Until the primary is over, it’s defeatist to speak of voting for “whoever the R’s put up”, and I refuse to do so.

I personally don’t think the equal time thing is part of his concern. He said plainly that he can’t talk about announcing while he has contractual obligations to NBC. What part of that is supposed to be a lie?

And, ameripundit, I can’t wait to throw my money at Fred! once he does announce. Money for him will not be a problem.

No Crimson, you hit it dead on target. Pity the shortsighted, jealous, and impatient can’t see that.

With Fred!, we’re watching history in the making. His will be a run for President that will be duplicated and used as a blueprint from now on out.

Watch and see.

Actually I am only pro Mitt! because he has the least baggage. I am pro Rudy because he polls well against all dems.

IF fred? announces I will consider him as a viable candidate along with the current crop. I don’t see the problem with the equal time issue if he announces that he will announce sometime in the near future. As he would not be legally a candidate, the equal time law has no weight of law. That’s how I read it, but I’m not a lawyer.

On a more clarifying note, I believe it’s the Equal Time Rule they are concerned about.

Therefore, during Ronald Reagan’s political campaigns, if a station aired one of his films, it would have been required to offer equal time to Mr. Reagan’s opponents.

I believe Mr. T will be off the hook after May 29 for one contract and sometimes in June from L & O.

csdeven, what will you write about when he announces? Give us a preview, in good faith. Remember, we’re on the same side.

The guy is nothing, nil, nada, zero, and zilch, when it comes to being a viable candidate. He is a candidate to be a candidate and that’s all.

Even though Fred is not the whole conservative loaf, he’ll do just fine for the leader of the free world. On the plus side, he can play himself in the post administration movies about his administration.

With his great narration voice Fred could reinstate the fireside chat.

You can defend your @ss all you want, but that won’t make up for a quarter of fundraising. Whether we like it or not, you still need commercials, advertising, etc. to win. Look at ‘06. The Dems spent more money than ever on campaign commercials and ads. They won.

People aren’t going to just rush out and make up for the $20 million dollars he’s already missed.

….and most of the 20m they raised is already spent. With everything he’s getting for free or getting paid to do, I’d say he’s ahead on the finances.

As to the equal time provision, it is my understanding that those rules only apply to “broadcast” media since that is the only thing that really falls under regulatory control. This came up with Arnie’s run in CA and they kept showing his movies on cable right up to the election. Precedent is set.

Fred is going to be the next president.

‘Do not Compete’. (Which is to say, if you don’t have to compete, don’t.) If people think its unfair that you don’t enter the fight until it is most favorable for your outcome, as long as you follow the rules they are just ninnies.

Interesting timing that Fred! would come out with this podcast just now. At least from my point of view.

No, it’s not just you. How many candidates is anyone hearing from on a regular basis? How many are having speeches televised and and analyzed? How many are podcasting? How many do you really hear about day in and day out? How many are being speculated about daily?

From where I sit, this is a brilliant use of the media.
