Nope. No slack for these slackers. First, they’re not kids. They’re college students, typically 18-24 years old, of legal age, old enough to sign contracts, marry, join the military. They’re adults. Young adults, granted, but adults nonetheless.

Second, we are actively at war in two countries, and the trigger for the war was in fact a terrorist attack on 9/11/2001. People can disagree whether it was good strategy to go to Iraq, whether Saddam had ties to al Qaeda, etc. but that’s not the point. It’s objectively true regardless of political partisanship or conspiracy theories that before 9/11, there was no way whatsoever that we would have overthrown Saddam. That adults of any age are ignorant of the basics like this is reprehensible.

Many people in SoCal feel disconnected from the rest of the country. From talking to some people out here (even relatively intelligent people) they feel the same way about 9/11 as they do about the London tube & Madrid train bombings – it’s something that’s really sad that happened to ‘other people’. In the same way, I remember many details about the Chechnyan terrorists in Beslan, Russia that took over the elementary school, but I don’t remember when it happened.

Which, to me, is almost more sad. We now have a country that is disconnected enough that when things happen in one part of the country, many people in another part feel like it wasn’t ‘their home’ that was affected.

If I were to read Mr. Dice’s obit and it said that he drowned while drinking from the toilet, I would be (1) not at all surprised, and (2) well satisfied.

Yesterday, I saw a car parked at the local supermarket lot that had a bumper sticker that read “911 was an inside job” likes the signes in the video. I am now searching for a bumber sticker that reads “The driver of this car has sh*t for brains” to put next to such stickers for the future. I may have to have some custom made. ;^)

Not that I’m excusing a lack of knowledge of History, but in the defense of some of these “kids”…the event was nearly 6 years ago, when some of these guys were 12/13/14… Adults tend to remember events like this more clearly than children. So, this is more an example of typical American lack of memory of History, than just plain stupidity.

Now, ask these kids how much time Paris Hilton got for her drunk driving, and I bet they’ll tell you.
