Video: What year was 9/11?

posted at 8:26 am on May 7, 2007 by Allahpundit

The perfect clip to herald my return. And also one of the precious few cases of a Truther not being the dumbest guy in his own video.

Well, no, he still is.

Welcome back Allah! You were missed.

amerpundit on May 7, 2007 at 8:29 AM

This guy obviously doesn’t understand duty and honor. I thought that this must be a parody, when he was asking the soldiers about 9/11, and telling the camera about soldiers being tortured at Gitmo? These conspiracy theorists really need to get their stories straight.

amerpundit on May 7, 2007 at 8:36 AM

Allah is back in the house!

Valiant on May 7, 2007 at 8:39 AM

The buck-5 Marine should have shown him a little 9/11 truth right on the spot. How he kept his k-bar out of the guys face I dunno.

Welcome back.

Limerick on May 7, 2007 at 8:40 AM

There you have it. Just when you were almost convinced it was the military recruiters who search out dimwits who have a poor education and no money, the 9/11 ‘truthers’ let us know that they’re after the dimwits at college who don’t know which year 9/11 occurred.

I guess the only difference being that these particular dimwits have wealthy parents?

Bonus points to Mr “I’m not a policy maker”. I’m a little suprised he didn’t make more of an effort to school the guy, but ah well..

Reaps on May 7, 2007 at 8:42 AM

Man, and I thought Leno staged his “on the street” stupid answers. I guess they really are that friggin stupid.

Coronagold on May 7, 2007 at 8:44 AM

And, yes, I can’t believe he pulled out the ‘war for oil’ quote

I wonder when Australia is going to get invaded for it’s uranium. Remember, it’s carbon-free!

Welcome back Allahpundit! I hope you had a great vacation. I thought of you when you were gone. CNN had a 3 minute video link about panda porn on their front page. It was a cool story. No Knut though, sigh.

This was a scary video with so many of these students unable to give the year of 9/11. It’s not surprising the truther crowd would find such a receptive audience among the college crowd. Would you rather think the government was behind 9/11 and go about your daily college life or face the ugly reality that Islam has declared war on the West and we are in for a decades long struggle?

The website given at the end of the video markdice.com leads to http://www.theresistancemanifesto.com/ where you can order Mark’s 416 page book ‘The Resistance Manifesto’.

The book has some good reviews:

“Mark Dice has assumed leadership of The Resistance. Forewarned is forearmed and we all have a role to play in the future. Or as Mark puts it, “The Resistance lives within each of us.”
– Jim Marrs, Author of Rule by Secrecy

Of course, directly beneath that quote, we find out that the leadership of ‘The Resistance’ is inviting us to the Paris Hilton going to Jail Party at the Beverly Hilton on June 5th.

Welcome back!
Canadian Infidel

OT and kind of funny – Canada’s red tinted Poppy quarter to celebrate our veteran’s was the cause of US contractors reporting that Canada was using coins to spy on them using nano-technology in our coins.

Canadian Infidel on May 7, 2007 at 8:51 AM

BTW, my fave part:
“Oh it’s very disturbing what we found, but, uh, I don’t know if the public’s ready for it.”
Was that Ward Churchill?

SouthernDem on May 7, 2007 at 8:51 AM

Well, no, he still is.

Heh. But at least he was smart enough to realize how stupid the other students were.

Jaibones on May 7, 2007 at 9:00 AM

Ah, yes. Gubmint Educashion at it’s zenith. My favorite part was the recruiter telling the tool to step away from the table. Mr. Leader of the Resistance was immediately compliant. I guess the leadership of that resistance doesn’t entail risking a butt-whoopin by a marine.

common sensineer on May 7, 2007 at 9:00 AM

Mr. Leader of the Resistance ……..I wonder, does he honestly think he would have stood in front of that tank in Tiananmen Square? I think he would be hiding behind that Marine.

Laura02420 on May 7, 2007 at 9:23 AM

San Diego State -That great bastion of intellectual thought!

As noted above by SouthernDem, I also thought it was hilarious that the crackpot “professor” said, “I don’t know if the public’s ready for it.” Honestly, I figured that was something he was going to say.

asc85 on May 7, 2007 at 9:27 AM

So John Conner is now Mark Dice? eh…

At least he makes a point…he probably could have asked “What month was 9/11?” and gotten the same response. Ah, San Diego State…If you can breathe, you’re accepted!

If only the Truthers would read that Popular Mechanics debunk…Google it…and perhaps learn a thing or two…

antoniojvr on May 7, 2007 at 10:09 AM

Not that I’m excusing a lack of knowledge of History, but in the defense of some of these “kids”…the event was nearly 6 years ago, when some of these guys were 12/13/14… Adults tend to remember events like this more clearly than children. So, this is more an example of typical American lack of memory of History, than just plain stupidity.

Now, ask these kids how much time Paris Hilton got for her drunk driving, and I bet they’ll tell you.

They dismiss it because Pop Mech publishers have some remote ties to Republicans, if I remember correctly.
Their is no convincing someone who is so severely deluded.

SouthernDem on May 7, 2007 at 10:29 AM

Just another American traitor, with a microphone…

NRA4Freedom on May 7, 2007 at 10:32 AM

They dismiss it because Pop Mech publishers have some remote ties to Republicans, if I remember correctly.

The connection is that one of the PopSci editors is supposedly a cousin to Michael Chertoff. The editor denies that Chertoff is a cousin but the 9/11 Lefties and Truthers say he is lying of course.

Queasy on May 7, 2007 at 10:37 AM

How arranging a meeting with these 9/11 “Truthers” with one of the Democrat presidential candidates and have them throw the 9/11 question to those candidates asking whether 9/11 happened and all a big government conspiracy that caused the collapse?

At least start weeding them out and see whether those candidates will try and pander to those “9/11 Truther” crowds for fear of upsetting their apple carts and not vote for them.

Heh..

Seriously. Somebody should ask those Democrat candidates those questions and get it on film.

WHOOOOOOOOO IS this boob in the vid?

I wish the Officer in the flight suit had kicked his smug backside.

But that is what I love about Military Officers (like my Hunky Husband) >>> Military bearing. SOOOoooooooo SEXY!

seejanemom on May 7, 2007 at 11:03 AM

This Mark Dice character is a real trip. He asks slanted, unfair questions of the soldiers, and he really did need to “step back from the table.” If only someone as articulate as General Honore could cross this guy’s path! I’d love to hear what he’d tell him.

Having said that, Dice is only deranged, or, to put a MM plug on it, Unhinged. He knows exactly what he’s doing and saying, and, as much as I’d like to, I can’t call him dumb. I can call him dead wrong, but it does take a functioning brain, albeit an improperly wired one, to come up with such incredible and fantastic (psychiatric sense only) tales.

Can I call him dangerous? I can and I will. Why is such a seeemingly nice guy dangerous? It’s because he takes his incredibly contrived lies and feeds them to a willing audience, namely those who are dumb. People who can’t remember that 9/11 was in 2001, even though they lived it… now that’s dumb.

With such stupidity out there, no wonder truthers have such an easy time spreading their poison.

flutejpl on May 7, 2007 at 11:10 AM

BTW, welcome back, Allah. See-Dubya is always great, but there’s only one Allah.

flutejpl on May 7, 2007 at 11:12 AM

This kind of thing makes me want to lay down and slam my fists on the floor like a cry baby.

It’s so sad to see people like this. Are our people really that stupid? The “Truthers” are one thing– even if they’re wrong, they’re trying. With these college kids though, they’re just so stupid. What the hell are they learning in school? There’s nothing more infuriating. “1997″ “2003?” “I dunno”

I’m going to punch something.

fusionaddict on May 7, 2007 at 11:26 AM

Where’s the giant fist to squash this little creep when we need it. Oh, that only happens in cartoons. You gotta hand it to those soldiers for keeping themselves from quietly taking him into the parking lot and kicking the holy sh*t out of him. I’m telling you, man, this kind of smugness doesn’t last long; this guy is gonna get himself pounded. Pride before a fall and all that.

Drum on May 7, 2007 at 11:31 AM

I had a feeling that this was that Mark Connor guy. I’m in San Diego on occasion and I pray that he stops me one day so that I can see if a Shure 58 microphone can actually be shoved down someone’s throat instead of just knocking out a few teeth.

Drum on May 7, 2007 at 11:35 AM

I really wish those someone had layed a Bonaduce on that twit.

Laura on May 7, 2007 at 11:41 AM

This is the guy who — as Mark Connor — disrupted the UCSD math class while the professor stood by and let it happen. I don’t know who is worse.

Drum on May 7, 2007 at 11:42 AM

>It’s not surprising the truther crowd would find such a receptive audience among the college crowd.

Especially at San Diego State, which I think vies every year with Cal State Chico for the “Best Party School” honor. Good grief, and to think my wife and I are insisting that our son go to college.

Drum on May 7, 2007 at 11:45 AM

Living in San Diego (county) all I can say after watching that video is…I weep for the future of America…

Also welcome back Allah….

Aylios on May 7, 2007 at 12:02 PM

Welcome Back. I hope you’re well rested. YOU’RE GONNA NEED IT!!!

If I were to read Mr. Dice’s obit and it said that he drowned while drinking from the toilet, I would be (1) not at all surprised, and (2) well satisfied.

Yesterday, I saw a car parked at the local supermarket lot that had a bumper sticker that read “911 was an inside job” likes the signes in the video. I am now searching for a bumber sticker that reads “The driver of this car has sh*t for brains” to put next to such stickers for the future. I may have to have some custom made. ;^)

georgej on May 7, 2007 at 12:30 PM

Did anyone else get the impression that not even the moron professor wanted to deal with this prick?

Wolfman on May 7, 2007 at 12:49 PM

It doesn’t surprise me that students in San Diego can’t give the year 9/11 happened.

Many people in SoCal feel disconnected from the rest of the country. From talking to some people out here (even relatively intelligent people) they feel the same way about 9/11 as they do about the London tube & Madrid train bombings – it’s something that’s really sad that happened to ‘other people’. In the same way, I remember many details about the Chechnyan terrorists in Beslan, Russia that took over the elementary school, but I don’t remember when it happened.

Which, to me, is almost more sad. We now have a country that is disconnected enough that when things happen in one part of the country, many people in another part feel like it wasn’t ‘their home’ that was affected.

JadeNYU on May 7, 2007 at 1:09 PM

I really thought this guy was at first, trying to show how dumb truthers are, or was trying to show that the dems are succeeding at getting people to forget 9/11 ever happened. Granted my kids were pulling at me and asking for things so I wasn’t really concentrating too hard. His video was not very well done, that’s for sure. I thought the recruiting guys stood up well to whatever he was trying to do.

tickleddragon on May 7, 2007 at 10:18 AM

Exactly, need to cut em some slack.
Aylios on May 7, 2007 at 12:02 PM

Nope. No slack for these slackers. First, they’re not kids. They’re college students, typically 18-24 years old, of legal age, old enough to sign contracts, marry, join the military. They’re adults. Young adults, granted, but adults nonetheless.

Second, we are actively at war in two countries, and the trigger for the war was in fact a terrorist attack on 9/11/2001. People can disagree whether it was good strategy to go to Iraq, whether Saddam had ties to al Qaeda, etc. but that’s not the point. It’s objectively true regardless of political partisanship or conspiracy theories that before 9/11, there was no way whatsoever that we would have overthrown Saddam. That adults of any age are ignorant of the basics like this is reprehensible.
