Video: The DCCC’s new ad
posted at 9:48 am on May 7, 2007 by Allahpundit
Ian caught this one but graciously handed it off to me as a welcome-back present. It seems too much of a coincidence that they’d be parodying Law & Order just as Fredmania’s hitting fever pitch (even if he was a bust at the Lincoln Club last week). This kills two birds with one stone, making a point about Republican congressional corruption while trying to taint Fred’s own candidacy by association. L&O’s going to be in the news quite a bit once he gets in, not only because it’ll be a common reference point for Americans who don’t know him or his politics but because reruns might be knocked off the air under the equal-time rule, a development the media will have to cover. The Dems are obviously hoping to capitalize.
Clever, although my gut reaction after having watched it once is “Hey, Law & Order! I like Law & Order! Fred’s on Law & Order!” So, maybe not so clever.

Bust? Bust???
His speech was interrupted by clapping several times, and at the end he got a standing ovation. Quite a bust.
Novak (the writer of that piece) simply holds a grudge against Fred! for some reason. Fred! even poked fun at him in his speech,
AlexB on May 7, 2007 at 9:56 AM
Pretty (gum)ballsy, considering if we did a parody like that about Dems corruption, the clip would be 3 times as long. ;)
Hey, LAW AND ORDER…Fred!’s on…oh, nevermind, Allah, you covered that. ;)
tickleddragon on May 7, 2007 at 9:57 AM
The Dems dishing on corruption? How precious, bless their black little hearts.
I’m thinking more of a mini-series tickledragon.

How’s that indictment in Texas against Delay going these days? Nowhere?!?
Wha?!?!
Didn’t see that one coming.
Hoodlumman on May 7, 2007 at 10:04 AM
How about a little show about Bill Clinton’s wonderful justice department…
“Reno 9/11″ ?
JetBoy on May 7, 2007 at 10:08 AM
“Investigated” is an interesting way to put it. I’m always suspicious of passive voice. It ignores who is doing the investigating. Since the Dems are investigating anyone and everyone they can with an (R) after their name, it proves exactly Jack Schidt to mention this fact.

Well, according to the Rosie, he’s a convicted criminal. Am I the first to reference R since Allah’s return? Do I win a prize?
PattyAnn on May 7, 2007 at 10:18 AM
The entire Rosie “View” DVD collection!
JetBoy on May 7, 2007 at 10:23 AM
Had to go there, didn’t ya? Now AP will have to find something about Rosie to post today.
Rick on May 7, 2007 at 10:25 AM
I watched the whole thing, and found Fred! to be his usual, engaging, gravitasimal (?) self.
Jaibones on May 7, 2007 at 10:30 AM
Me thinks they doth protest too much…
This was probably a very poor move on the Dems part… they must think they are safe from the MSM…
Anyone near Polosi’s vinyard? Anyone willing to go out and ask the workers there if they are legal? isn’t she also involved in construction?
or… then theres Boxer’s little conflict of interest, worth BILLION’s…
or people giving Secrets to the NYT… which, come to think of it, has kinda dried up lately…
And just where is that indictment for the frozen 90K?
To a certain extent, I have to agree with them, many things are NOT apparently getting investigated… but its on both sides of the aisle..
Romeo13 on May 7, 2007 at 10:41 AM
We’d need the whole hour show for their corruption.
amerpundit on May 7, 2007 at 10:41 AM
I keep waiting for some conservation group to go with Law & Order, SUV……
honora on May 7, 2007 at 10:55 AM
They are busy telling everybody that kids cause global warming – so don’t have them.
Rick on May 7, 2007 at 11:02 AM
The “bust” AP is refering to is the dissapointment that freddie boy didn’t announce his candidacy AGAIN. And freds groupies are clearly trying to keep him connected to a TV show he has a role in. They used the theme music for that show when they introduced him at the Lincoln Center.
csdeven on May 7, 2007 at 11:05 AM
Why on earth would they have to pull L&O reruns?!? I don’t recall Reagan movies being taboo while he was running. Not that I would have a problem with this as I never watch the show. On the other hand, if Algore were to announce, maybe Showtime would have to pull his silly little sci-fi movie they keep showing.
db on May 7, 2007 at 11:10 AM
is there anyone on our side keeping track?
both of the verity of their investigations and who amongst the democrats should be investigated and for what?
jummy on May 7, 2007 at 11:13 AM
The WaPO article AP linked to above mentions that Reagan and Arnold movies were not shown during the campaigning. It also mentions that incidental appearances on documentaries did not apply. Gore’s movie is categorized as a documentary, but I doubt he can claim his appearance was incidental.
Rick on May 7, 2007 at 11:17 AM
Yes, I saw that. While I remember coverage of Arnold movies being pulled, I do not recall this during either of Reagan’s presidential runs. I am not saying it didn’t happen (the article says “stations” rather than “networks” so maybe this was voluntary and isolated???) I simply don’t recall a big deal being made about it.
db on May 7, 2007 at 11:24 AM
it just seems to me that 90% of righties, whenever they’re presented with this sort of thing, respond by saying something like, “if somebody would do a video/list/investigation/protest targetting the same aspect of the other guys, it would totally shut them up.”
90% of conservatives are passive consumers of the efforts of the remaining 10% or less. i watched yesterday as a hotair story was dugg out from under us. the response was to ask bryan to try to remove the digg link. mainly because all of like two conservatives ever got digg accounts to begin with.
jummy on May 7, 2007 at 11:24 AM
imagine what would happen if hotair tried to open a “diary” feature like dkos has. nothing. nobody signs petitions, nobody has an e-mail list. nobody buys dvd’s or shows up at test screenings for conservative movies. etc.
jummy on May 7, 2007 at 11:27 AM
Did anyone else notice that this is basically a list of ‘investigated’ – not convicted. Delay for example.
The republicans should take this and paste ‘CLEARED’ or ‘CONVICTED BY REPUBLICAN CONGRESS’ over the top as approprate.
Also add a list of Democrats….
CrazyFool on May 7, 2007 at 11:39 AM
I just find it interesting that the article only mentions Fred!, Arnold and Reagan, but fails to mention any liberal candidates (past or present). I wonder if all old SNL episodes with Al Franken will be pulled, and what will happen if the Gorebot does decide to put his name in the hat?
Rick on May 7, 2007 at 11:42 AM
That took chutzpa!
morganfrost on May 7, 2007 at 11:52 AM
Using Law & Order as a back drop for corruption is stupid.
1) It is the flagship drama for NBC and very popular.
2) Fred plays a man that would represent the antithesis of corruption not the harbinger of it.
3) Fred authored campaign finance reform.
4) Fred also authored Government at the Brink.
This isn’t going to play as well as they think. The counter ad featuring William “90k in da freezer” Jefferson and the Dems attempting to appoint him to a commitee position doesn’t give them room to criticize.
Theworldisnotenough on May 7, 2007 at 11:55 AM
jummy,
DKos, Moveon.org, DU…Yep you must be right………(BTW that’s sarcasm just in case you couldn’t tell)…
Rock on……………..
doriangrey on May 7, 2007 at 12:06 PM
The video….what a crock !!! If we are going to talk about history; let’s start talking about the Kennedy’s.
oldelpasoan on May 7, 2007 at 12:09 PM
The f*cktards forgot to include “William Jefferson” and “Diane Feinstein,” and “Ted Kennedy” as cast members “Bribe taker” and “lined her pockets”, and “drunken murderer,” respectively.
They should also add the REAL video of John Murtha negotiating for a BIGGER BRIBE during ABSCAM. But you know they won’t.
BTW, Thompson gave a pretty good speech at the Lincoln Club.

I didn’t get that at all. i must be right about what?
jummy on May 7, 2007 at 1:15 PM
if your point is that dkos and moveon are somehow less organized than their conservative counterparts (if such can be said to exist) then you’re wearing rose colored glasses.
jummy on May 7, 2007 at 1:21 PM
That vid would have been better, but they were 90 grand short on the production budget.
infidel4life on May 7, 2007 at 1:40 PM
Also, wouldn’t this be illegal if it violated the copywrite laws if they didn’t get permission from NBC/Universal, Dick Wolf, etc.?
OOPS! I forgot- it’s NBC (Nothin’ But Criminals), afterall.

Sir, you forgot Henry Reid and his real-estate shenanigans.
Not to say that both parties don’t their share of ‘dirty’ guys/gals.
However, a tape like this only gives birth to many others, on both sides. Fred will defend himself eloquently. L & O will only help. The lefties’ nipping at him makes me happy.
Entelechy on May 7, 2007 at 2:32 PM
The “equal time rule” or better known as the “Fairness Doctrine” was rescinded under Reagan. Networks do not need to abide by the rule but more frequently than not they do.
Capitalist Infidel on May 7, 2007 at 3:02 PM
Why do you think we are losing. We aren’t attacking and it is costing us.
Heck, the left pays people to put leftist spin on Wikipedia and Digg. We don’t have that and while the internet is only a small portion of the fight, it is one are we are being killed on.
The Internet is talk radio of the Left.
Tim Burton on May 7, 2007 at 5:07 PM
Correction – s/b Harry Reid, of course.
Entelechy on May 7, 2007 at 5:29 PM
I think Fred was stellar at the Lincoln Club event. At least he didn’t have slobberin’ Chris Matthews asking him Bazooka Joe dumbass questions like he did the others. I have great videos of his Newport Beach, CA speech here.
