Video: Blair félicite Sarkozy (en français)

English version is here. I’m posting the French for the sheer novelty value as a show of solidarity with our new friend in Paris.

There is a news angle here, believe it or not: 10 Downing Street just opened its own YouTube account, making Blair the first world leader to embrace online video. The account was activated six days ago but none of the previous clips have done even as well as the average Vent. These two are faring better — 30,000+ views for the French version alone in its first few hours online.

Bush or Stephen Harper will probably be next, but this sort of thing is much more useful to someone like Ahmadinejad or Chavez. It’s a freebie propaganda pipeline to the west, it’s more intimate and therefore humanizing than a televised speech, and YouTube is positively crawling with Truthers and various other useful idiots who’d be receptive to their message. They know just how to talk to these morons, too. It’s a no-brainer, literally.

Bush ought to setup an account. It may be his best hope to bypass the MSM and go straight to the public. Truth to Power, baby!

Color me impressed. (maybe I shouldn’t use the word impressed; it’s too close to impressment and the wounds of the 1810’s are still freash in my mind.)

He speaks french better than Bush speaks spanish; of course I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing.

Now if only the Whitehouse would take a hint and do things like this so they can get their messages straight to the peoplez.

P.S. I have to admit though, before Bush was in the Whitehouse, the website sux0rd.

MirCat on May 7, 2007 at 10:26 PM

His French is actually impressive! His pronunciation is way better than I would have imagined and it proves that he’s practiced much over time.

I was particularly pleased at this mention of cooperation among Britain and France, and the rest of the world, first, and then again at Britain, France and the United States.

Whatever his flaws, I admire this man greatly, and the U.S. could not have had a better supporter and friend than Mr. Blair, who’s decided for good, opposing all in his personal and professional lives.

Couldn’t. They censor the internet. Letting people on Youtube would….

Oh, you’re talking about the unhinged moonbats. Yeah, you’re right.

He is a good man. I was in the UK last week and watched Blair in Parliment on Sky News. He went toe to toe with the loyal opposition, and it was fun to watch.

Bush ought to go observe to see how it’s done.

BacaDog on May 7, 2007 at 10:44 PM

Why woud Bush put any video up there ? The moonbats bury it with their hate and personally attacks.

Places like Digg and Google and youtube run their own version of a high tech lynch mob and any attempts to reign them in get called “Facist” or “Censorship”

Look what’s at the top of the conservative version of YouTube. How come this site is not used more? Or isn’t better known?

Entelechy on May 7, 2007 at 11:03 PM

Sacre Bleu!
Mon deu!
and all dat Jazz!
I have this torn opinion of the French.
Its just so hard because they make cool movies:
(Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, The Professional, The Fifth element, Etc.)
But then theres well most everthing else….

This election is warming my heart to them again I must say!

Well, I never heard of qubetv.tv before. But then, I just discovered another rather impressive video site a couple of weeks ago, veoh.com.

I’m bookmarking your recommendation and will check it out. Thanks!

Once the political leaders go online there will be more people drawn to the web. I don’t know if blogs like this are influencing peoples opinions. If there is a (moral) majority in this country I think then the internets could be very influential in providing information, as an alternative to the MSM. I know that last statement is pretty obvious, but I for one knew I did not agree with hardly anything on MSM and had a miserable lonely outlook. Then I watched Fox, listened to Rush and then found MM and HA, so at this point I have found a group of like minded people simply from reading and posting here. NEVER underestimate the POWER OF THE POST!

Thanks for the link Entelechy. Looks like a pretty good site. They need a Digg button though.

WTG, Tony. I wonder if anyone in Bush’s cabinet can say “je parle francais?”

(except they do quotes different in France)

Bob's Kid on May 8, 2007 at 12:43 AM

Wasn’t it several months ago when YouTube and Google Videos started burying/deleting some of Michelle’s stuff that we here discussed the need for a ‘Conservative version of YouTube’?

Well, anyway, looks like “Charlie & Jeff” either had the same idea or heard our pleas and put it together. So, Kudos to them.

Got a long way to go though… They don’t even have their privacy policy or any other rules written up (or at least properly linked from the pages I tried.)

Nonetheless, I joined up and have started uploading some of the stuff I have up on YouTube and Veoh.

Hope they are successful in the long run.

SoS Rice speaks French as well as several other languages.

I thought Hot Air was a conservative you tube. :)

Hey, I tried to send a trackback to one of the entries here on this subject, but it said that the ping was flagged by the spam filter. Can you fix it? I see that almost no other trackbacks were sent as a result of this.

Isn’t life grand!

vive la video!

vive la france

Blair’s French accent is only slightly worse than his English accent.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on May 8, 2007 at 8:54 AM

Speaking of Tony…
I recently saw the movie THE QUEEN. Very interesting, and well done. If the historical account of it is correct, I had no idea just how much this decidedly “modern” Blair had done to preserve and protect the monarchy during the period after Di’s death. IF it’s accurate, I have even more respect for this man.

For the anglophiles out there, like me, check the film out. It’s really very good. (Except it is way too generous to Charles - the git.)

Awesome. GoVas Tony!!!
