Here’s what I don’t understand:

If every time the ‘moderate Muslims’ open their mouths, they’re kicked out of the mosque, met with death threats, etc., then what possible conclusion are we to reach but that the mainstream of Islam is friendly to the Islamist ‘extremists’ and unfriendly to peaceful coexistence between differing faiths?

The Monster on May 3, 2007 at 9:44 AM

I sent my complaint to PBS. Everyone needs to do it. This is an opportunity for all of us (that are really frustrated with the bias against our mission) to put all the words we voice here toward people who have a responsibility to be fair and balanced.

csdeven on May 3, 2007 at 9:51 AM

maybe it should be made available on the Internet.

VTWaldrup on May 3, 2007 at 10:42 AM

PBS has sold out to Islamist $$$. We probably will see this film at some point, but not on PBS.

infidel4life on May 3, 2007 at 10:43 AM

The Monster,

So what exactly is there to not understand??? The evidence is before you, the vast majority of Islam is so dedicated to subduing the entire earth to Islam at any cost that violent jihad against even those of Islamic faith is not only acceptable its mandatory.

Nor should PBS’s stance regarding this movie come as any surprise to anyone. PBS is not responsible to anyone, they don’t have shareholders to account to, they don’t have advertisers to account to, and they cannot be held accountable by the general public. With a situation like this cronyism and ideology result in a severely biased broadcast schedule. PBS has become a festering boil on the buttocks of American society, and in this case the cure is not antibiotics, but a good old fashioned bloodletting known as a lancing.

Rock on……………….

PHONE YOUR REPRESENTATIVES.

Not even a NICKEL more in Federal funding for Propaganda Broadcasting Service.

And just for fun…this one time….atbandcamp…..a few drunk people that I know…OK …MY BEST FRIENDS AND I…all sat down with our cell phones, some odd land lines, and three fifths of tequila and spent three drunken hours making false pledges (large, but not suspiciously so)to the local NPR Beg-A-Thon.

We had such fun , we did it off and on all week…

And when we tallied our pledges…(oK, it was a vapid waste of time…but FUUUN)>>> six of us had “given” this one-horse NPR station a total of $8,490!!!!!!! Their “goal” was only $325,000 for the week>>it was fun to hear them announce, “New member, Jane!”>>>

I HIGHLY recommend this as a cocktail party ice breaker….VERY GRATIFYING, and funny in a “Your refrigerator is running!” kinda way. And probably (hopefully) illegal. Heh.

seejanemom on May 3, 2007 at 10:56 AM

So what exactly is there to not understand???

But… Islam is a Religion of Peace™. Isn’t that what President Bush says?

The Monster on May 3, 2007 at 10:59 AM

must be a ‘lost in translation’ thing
… as in ‘religion of pieces’ aka all blowd up

VTWaldrup on May 3, 2007 at 11:04 AM

The Monster

It is a peaceful religion, as peaceful as a graveyard……….Which coincidentally is exactly where they plan on planting the seeds of freedom and democracy, which they intend to fertilize with the blood of as many Americans as possible.

Rock on………………

doriangrey on May 3, 2007 at 11:15 AM

And again I’ll say essentially the same thing that got Michael Graham fired:

Yes, I went through years of anti-Eurocentric, anti-patriarchy, politically correct diversity-celebrating multicultural indoctrination (what used to be called “school”). I paid my dues. But after 9/11, if you’re a “moderate” Muslim, you need to SPEAK the #$&* UP! ‘Cause right now, all I hear is two voices: extremists, and alleged “moderates” (i.e., CAIR) who only bully into silence those who criticize the extremists.

The link listed doesn’t work (http://www.pbs.org/about_site/aboutsite_emailform.html). I’ve found one that does at http://www.pbs.org/ombudsman/feedback.html

No government – left or right – has any business whatsoever running a TV station. As long as PBS exists, it will be a problem, simply because it exists. That Republicans aren’t demanding a shutdown of what is clearly unconstitutional “public broadcasting” only shows how far from caring about real constitutionality the party really is these days.

Meanwhile, PBS continues to carry on the propaganda work of our enemies.

Halley on May 3, 2007 at 11:48 AM

I just went to the PBS website and had no problem airing my outrage. Comments are limited to 500 characters, however, so keep ‘em pithy.

Aunt B on May 3, 2007 at 12:01 PM

I know we’re talking big bucks here, but is it possible for a consortium of investors to buy the rights to this production and broadcast it on the net or satellite?

locomotivebreath1901 on May 3, 2007 at 12:02 PM

I *heart* Frank Gaffney – one of only a handful of people lugubrious enough to make me look optimistic.

Here is a clear and succinct article by Islam vs. Islamists co-executive producer Alex Alexiev about the Islamist propaganda piece PBS has seen fit to run as a substitute (highlighting the relentless, rabid persecution of American Muslims post 9-11).

eeyore on May 3, 2007 at 12:02 PM

Great Vent Michelle!

It will be interesting to see if those who do not adhere to the fundamental tenants of Islam are still called Muslims – or if they are apostates who practice a religion similar to Islam.

“We’re living in a time when right is wrong and wrong is right, when truth is seen as a lie and lies are seen as truth. Clearly, to a great extent the world has gone mad. But at least part of this moral blindness is fed by the failure of the “fair and balanced” international press.”

This was taken from an article I just read. It is a little long, but well worth the read.

Doesn’t the font on their film (and site) look to be the same as Robert Spencer’s at Jihad Watch? It almost looks deliberate.

starflyer on May 3, 2007 at 3:25 PM

Moderate Muslims are like Moderate Christians in that either group will often sacrifice religious convictions for secular social positions. These groups eventually become less religious and more secular, and find themselves at odds with both sides of the religious conflict. So in the end, the people we want to think of as moderate Muslims are better off hedging their bet by keeping their mouth shut.

If moderates speak up they become targets of pro-Islamofascits just like everyone else. If they keep silent they become targets of anti-Islamofascits. But which is worse? Being the target of hot lead from the pro-Islamofascists or targets of hot rhetoric from the anti-Islamofascists?

Lawrence on May 3, 2007 at 3:34 PM

Perhaps it could garner a Prime Time Network spot? Say 60 Minutes or 20-20? It is sweeps month and it would pull in viewers!

Oxybeles on May 3, 2007 at 3:41 PM

Another reason funding for PBS must be stopped. There should no government sponsored media.

Wade on May 3, 2007 at 4:12 PM

Paradoxically, PBS is doing the West a favor by not promoting the idea that there is such a thing as a “Muslim moderate”.

They are so few, so far between, and so uninfluential within Islam (BECAUSE OF THE ACTUAL TEXTS OF THE KORAN, HADITHS, ETC.), that for us to be distracted from the dangers of the Jihadist maniacs by a delusional feeling that “there is some hope for Islam, as such”, weakens the West when it needs all of its strength to defeat this intolerant, anti-intellectual, anti-freedom, depsotic totalitarian movement.

Not PBS’s intention, clearly, but I thank them for this accidental effort in the War Against Islamofascism.

Forget the “moderates”. Islam, itself, does.

Only power will overcome power.

The moderates have none.

(And they will not resort to the same kind of violence against the violent jihadists, so they are self-neutered… by their own “moderation”… a lose-lose proposition.)

Best we learn the dogmas of Islam, ands fight them.

Their “moderates”, if they had any brains, would havbe left this dismal cutl already.

What excuses do they have to stay in a “faith” founded by a pedophile warlord?

With allies like them, I’d rather fight withou them.

Great Vent Michelle.

I must admit, if that documentary aired on PBS, I would have missed it. I stopped contributing just before Ronald Reagan was elected the first time. The last program aired on PBS that I really enjoyed was Ken Burns Civil War.

I am looking forward to seeing this documentary; Michelle, Bryan, any insight as to the fate of this piece? Do you think Murdock/Fox will pick it up? If all else fails, burn the DVDs, I’ll buy one.

Cool Quotes

Politicians of past at least knew what was going on, unlike the fools of today who bury their head in the sand.

abinitioadinfinitum on May 3, 2007 at 8:14 PM

Great vent and expose. Like others, I gave up watching/giving to PBS a long time ago – since Pat Schroeder snuck that bill in over night, funding them by the multi-millions with our tax money, without the sunlight analysis and a vote.

This crowd in D.C. will probably fund them more, given their bias.

Entelechy on May 4, 2007 at 1:03 AM

I am not surprised at PBS’ censoring of “Moderate Muslims,” read “Voices in opposition to Islamic Jihad.”

I do not wish to endure sitting through most PBS material. Did the left wing, liberal, fifth column contingent take over PBS? Do they use PBS as an outlet for their propaganda?

It appears to be the case!

I especially dislike the cover used by so many who prevent things like this documentary from being shown, Often things like this aren’t shown out of “repect” or not wanting to “offend” anyone when really it’s not shown out of fear and by giving in to that fear you’ve handed the fanatics a victory IMO.
