Video: Murtha says Petraeus is a political hack

posted at 5:31 pm on May 2, 2007 by Ian

On “Hardball” last night, John “Okinawa” Murtha bashed Gen. Petraeus, claiming he only came to Washington to “make political statements” and “only talks to the news media.”

Et tu, Murtha?

Murtha? Crooked king of all hacks is calling Gen. Petraeus a hack? He implied Petraeus is lying for purely political benefit. What a sorry sack of crap Murtha is. Disgusting creature.

Wasn’t there an offer to congress for Petraeus to brief them on the war, but Palomino Pelosi turned it down flat?

Murtha, your cognitive dissonance is showing! As is your utter lying ass.

Hillary says she’ll keep some troops in Iraq to fight oh, gee, what’s that group’s name again? Oh yeah, al Qaeda.

Patraeus tried to talk to you. Let’s take note that Pelosi, your buddy, said she wouldn’t show up.

When Murtha passes on and arrives at his destiny [hell] the global warming debate will be over. In fact the imbalance and sudden disappearence of the single largest source of greenhouse gases could spur another ice age.

When Murtha passes on and arrives at his destiny [hell] the global warming debate will be over. In fact the imbalance and sudden disappearence of the single largest source of greenhouse gases could spur another ice age.

If hell is required to consume that much biomass, the resultant spike in core temperature might, to the contrary, create real global warming. The methane release alone might prove catastrophic.

I may be wrong about that, but he did brief over 200 members and she did not attend.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,268400,00.html

Pelosi’s staff cited a scheduling conflict for her absence. However, she and Murtha spoke by phone with Petraeus for 30 minutes on Tuesday, which she said was sufficient.

“I appreciated his report and his responses to my questions on security and political issues in Iraq,” Pelosi said in a statement about her and Petraeus’ phone conversation. “We share a conviction that the war in Iraq will not be resolved militarily, and I look forward to future reports from him on the effects of President Bush’s escalation plan.”

House speakers rarely attend members-only military briefings, but Republicans took no time in criticizing the speaker for her absence. Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio called Pelosi’s decision “shameful.” Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., called it “insulting and disrespectful.”

“While Speaker Pelosi was able to jet-set around the globe to meet with Syrian leaders, she finds it inconvenient to meet with the U.S. commander in Iraq during his brief visit to Washington,” Wilson said.

Anyone else find ridiculous a discussion between Chris Matthews and Jack Murtha on who is or isn’t a political hack?

billy on May 2, 2007 at 5:59 PM

I can’t figure Murtha. When he started speaking against the war months ago, even P. Bush said, when a man of his record speaks it’s worth a listen.

So he took his credibity based on his reputation and spent it for what? I don’t see the kickback… he might be more ‘admired’ by the nutroots, but certainly less with the general public now. He was even unsuccessful in his house election w/ Pelosi backing him. I don’t get it. I can’t fathom that he is sincere, so what’s the payoff for him?

Useless Gassbag!

So Patraeus comes back to Washington as a purely political move at the behest of the White House, and he is a “hack?”

Let’s see. Soldier ordered to come and make a statement by the Commander in Chief, solder follows orders.

This is a political move by the General somehow? No doubt it could be a political move by the White House, but the General quite naturally has no agenda other than protecting his troops, and winning a war.

Oh, someone is being rather opportunistic. But it’s not Patraeus.

You all get one wrinkly ancient slow bleed guess as to who is using this as a political tool.

Dems these days are just pathetic. Let’s all chant “no blood of oil” while backhandedly whispering “Allright! Cool! Blood for votes!”

Gen. Petraeus wouldn’t talk to Congress? This guy is seriously mentally ill. He is seriously SENILE. I saw video of “Stretch” and “The Body”, refusing to meet with Gen. Petraeus. Murtha needs to be removed from the Congress immediately and comitted to a mental hospital. Not for his own protection, but the protection of the American people.

By the way, don’t put him in a Veterans Hospital. Those are places for Honored Veterans. Murtha voluntarilly gave up that distinction during Abscam.

Predictably, they’re doubling down on this – those recent NYT and WaPo articles must have been a very unpleasant shock, and they know it’s basically now or never. If
- they can’t get us out of Iraq now,
- we continue to progress as the milbloggers have been reporting for months,
- and the word continues to get out, finally!
then they are finished politically for decades. And they know it. You can fully expect the screams to get more and more shrill over the next few weeks. There’s an excellent chance that they really will refuse to pass a spending bill in order to starve the troops out.

General Petraeus is one of the most gifted generals we have had. For Murtha to call General Petraeus a “political hack” shows what an arrogant, senile nitwit Murtha is. It is Murtha who is the political hack.

Isn’t there something that can be done now about Murtha? And don’t tell me he is a sure bet to be re-elected in 2008.

Phil Byler on May 2, 2007 at 9:24 PM

How many Generals got fired or quit, and as soon as they retired they criticized Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld about how incompetent they where and unwilling to listen. How many times was Rumsfeld asked about body armor and up armored Humvees to say something like, “Henny Penny gee Golly you don’t always have what you want when you go to war.” Soldiers died needlessly because of the insane clown posse.

Bush has some brass saying Dems should listen the Generals when he has ignored them for 6 years, ironic and hypocritical. He agrees only if they agree with him. Murtha is a war vet, hero and great American. What did Bush do, protect Texas from the vietcong. Land on a aircraft carrier as a passenger with his package hanging out in his little top gun outfit and say, Mission Accomplished, in enemy territory (off of San Diego). Bush was a Drunk till age 40 and got a DUI. You all must be proud.

Murtha can read the writing on the wall and has the Brass to say it. You right wing wackos want the war to go on because you know your PARTY is ruined. Sorry. You care more about saving political and party face for future GOP POWER. Unless we all sign up for 10 more years, +6,000 more military casualties, a few $TRILLION$ more, plus a DRAFT, THEN SHUT UP YOU IDIOTS. This BS surge and incompetence has made a mess. Bush was warned and HE IGNORED IT. Regardless this is Islam and they will not allow westerns to take it over or convert it to democracy. 1,500 years of history says so. READ A BOOK SOME DAY.

PS Bush flew over the gulf-south after Katrina and said GEEE. Katrina another proud moment in republican presidential history. If they would have even dropped off water after three days at the super dome I would cut him and Brownee, “you’re doing a Heck-uva Job” a break.

Now you want a Mormon who lies, panders, flip flops and thinks Ron L Hubbard (Scientology) is a great writer. How about a mayor who never fixed the radios for fireman/police or had a joint high rise drill in 8 years despite being told it was needed (after the first WTC tower attack). He was told NOT to put the command center in the WTC, BUT DID IT ANYWAY! Not to mention he’s a serial adulterer and on wife #3, which makes 6 marriages between them. This idiot (Rudy) has no international experience and is using 9/11 as a fear card, Vote Dems and Die. Than there is McCain, I like him but he has one problem, he’s a big Bush Iraq supporter and 70% of americans have had enough. Oh-oops.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH conservatives? YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MINDS!! Is your party loylity taken over for God and Country FIRST. Are you just scared little children that believe all the fear mongering about “fight them there or fight them here”. NEWS FLASH! THEY CAN COME HERE TODAY! IF WE STAY IN IRAQ FOR 10 YEARS, IT COULD FALL APART THE NEXT DAY!! This is the HEART of mesopotamia, Islam and the Iraq people want us OUT OF THERE. We are making it worse and lost 100 soldiers just last MONTH and 100′s of billions every year! Yea I know you care about the IRAQ people, you care soooooo much. Liar, you don’t give a darn and most americans don’t if they are honest. I put America and American soldiers first thank YOU.

Last I checked Al Qaeda does not have a Navy or Air force, so are they going to swim across the atlantic? They Blow them selves up for a BJ in paradise, live in caves and s$%$# in holes in the ground. Yes they are dangerous but they got lucky on 9/11. GET A GRIP! We are the most powerful country in the world and this is a war of intel, intellect, special strikes and better home land security. Mean while we can rebuild our military and avoid making the country go bankrupt. We played into Bin Laden’s hand. We lost this hand but not the game. We will win if we are smart. Bush is not the man to do it. 629 days to go, till America’s freedom from being held hostage (by incompetence and failed policies).

Yea free speech is anti-American. 70% of america are traitors! You’re a fool. I have more patriotism in my little finger than you have in your whole ridiculous stupid body.

Yea HOW ABOUT SOME FACTS. What comment do you disagree with? Was I factually wrong? What are we doing in Iraq? How is it going to work out, you think, really, honestly in the real world? How long will it take?

I WAITING FOR AN ANSWER.

The I hope, I hope it works peter pan plan does not cut it. Do you have a fact in that little pea brain? Dispute my comments? No, than shut up.

There is NO plan for Victory, just doing the same thing over and over again hoping that some miracle happens. Well I talked to God, as I do every day when I pray as a Christian. God is saying to me he does not approve and wants us out. I mean if God talks to Pat Robertson, he can talk to me. God has vetoed the war.

Wishing or bombast that we MUST have “Victory”, failure is not an option means nothing. It’s a great movie line but we have to work with facts. I also wish and wish we had victory with all my heart, but I am practical.

If we want to win than all 19-25 year olds need to be drafted, including YOU. No academic exceptions, none, ALL will serve. Fat and stupid as you are, they will still find something for YOU to do, with out a gun. I am serious. We can’t win unless we have the 400,000 troops that all the generals said we needed.

The new General in Iraq is just playing Bush Ball, following orders. That’s good and fine; he’s not making policy and its his job to follow orders, but all his predecessors and the Iraq Study Group have said the military mission is OVER. WHAT PART OF THAT DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND SPANKY?

Also the GOP Terror propaganda wing constantly equates Iraq as EITHER we STAY AND WIN or WE DIE. THAT IS RETARDED.
Prove it.

All of the Jackanapes that are “predicting” disaster now if we transition the mission in Iraq, have up to this point been 100% wrong. So I’m more encourage by all the sky is falling gloom and doom predictions, because statistically they are wrong, again. So leaving will not be the end of the world. Take a deep breath. al qaeda is NOT as powerful as you have been told by the fear monger gang.

We are not surrendering by taking troops out of Iraq. THAT IS A STUPID COMMENT AND HURTS AMERCIA AND MAKES US LOOK WEAK. SHAME. We kicked butt, did some good, some bad but we’re at diminishing returns. ITS ALL IN THE FACTS AND COMMON SENSE, not political face saving for Bush and the GOP.

WE ARE NOT GIVING UP, and we are not defeated. All the defeat talk is from you cowards. How about something intelligent. We can still influence Iraq and will.

This whole idea republicans and only republicans, know how or are willing to use military force and protect america is right wing media BS. What a democrat will do is PUT people in their cabinet that are qualified. What a novel idea, using the BEST person for the job and not a political operative, who will only be a co-dependant dysfunction enabler yes man or woman. The Dem president will also listen to their advisers and council, not work off of a predetermend Neo-Con agenda play book based on ideology.

This constant “LEFT” is the enemy is what the enemy wants. You spend more time demonizing and making the “LEFT” the enemy.

What is Victory or what are WE going to win?

Really the idea of permanent military bases and a pro USA Iraq democracy sitting on a sea of cheap OIL OF THE USA SOUNDS SO GOOD. It would BE GREAT!!!!!! However the last one, OIL is a big part of why we went into Iraq. It was about an oil-mans, Oil envy? Well the idea OIL revenues from Iraq (who will great us as liberators and last only 6 months at most, mission accomplished, insurgency in last throes) WILL PAY FOR THE WAR AS PROMISED IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Yesterday the White house said, the terrorist will have access to 1/3 of the worlds OIL! Oh NO, henny penny sky is falling, gee golly. Really? Do you think al qaeda will take the oil from the iraq people? Not going to happen. We will not let it happen and Bush is just using 9/11 to hold onto power by terrorizing the americn people.

Ahaaaa its all about oil. WHY WE ARE NOT WORKING WITH URGENCY TO GET OFF OF FOREIGN OIL I DON’T KNOW. THAT IS CRIME AND A FURTHER FAILURE OF A SHORT SIGHTED GOVERNMENT. NEW FLASH, al qaeda was not in Iraq AT ALL before 3/2003, and the al qaeda that’s there now in NOT the SAME al qaeda that made 9/11 happen.

So NO ONE CAN disagree with you, like 70% of America, with out being a traitor? I guess not.

That is the sad fact of a black or white brain that can’t reason and think for itself, putting party before God and Country. Same on you communist. Spew away but sorry, Iraq VICTORY as Bush or you think is possible is NOT possible. It’s not in our best interest to referee a civil war. We got rid of Saddam and sons, installed a government and determined that there are no WMD’s or nukes. WHAT DO THE REPUBLICANS DO, CALL FOR WAR ON IRAN? WHY? They are doubling down on war. If 9/11 gave them power for 6 years, may be a GOOD war will get them more power?
