Yeah, and he doesn’t have any hair. Electing a candidate on the basis of his externals. Good luck with that. We see how well it worked for the constantly tanned and coiffed John Fop Kerry.

Now that we’ve heard your in-depth analysis honora, can we get your more surface impressions?

You don't find him phlegmatic? I am guessing many people will. I don't think that a particularly good quality in a politician, thought not deadly I suppose.

Whats with the racial thing honora? Does this mean that Obama, yo’ mama, is the libs great BLACK hope? I thought libs were not into the ‘defining color’ game.

Oh for the love of God. "Great white hope" is an idiom:

Idiom Definition
Meaning:
Someone who is expected to be a great success is a great white hope

This is from the usingenglish.com site.

While you mock Fred’s apparently boring qualities, he sure as hell wouldn’t have let Osama sit in his cross hairs for 2 weeks and let him slip away. So, I don’t give a rat’s @ss if he’s talks slowly, or isn’t jumping up and down on a couch, if he keeps my family safe.

Is this a shot at Bush or a shot at Clinton? I guess both, good point. I have to ask: how can you be so certain what Fred! would/wouldn't have done?

Honora…I think that’s still at least twice the qualifications of an Obama, and still more than a Hillary.

Think in terms of Senatorial experience he is on par with Hillary, greater than Obama?

sigh* honora, honora, honora. Why don’t you go away for a little while, and while you are gone, take the time to actually research the positions and histories of the candidates (and yes, I include Fred! in that list, even though he has yet to announce). Maybe you will figure out why so many educated, sensible conservatives find themselves in Fred!’s corner. If that doesn’t work, just go watch your grass grow.

Oh but I think I know why: Fred! is actually "none of the above".

Seems like a fine fellow, but let's be honest, were he not well known by virtue of his Law and Order gig, he would be another ex-Senator of no particular note. No shame in that, but see it for what it is, a sign that the Republicans (yes, like the Democrats) don't really have a great candidate.

I was non-plussed by Fred's appearance and actually started to doze off. While his positions on the issues are fine, he needs to project more energy and enthusiasm.

Fred! is definitely the best candidate for President of the United States to come along in decades. When will he announce that he will run?

It gives me pleasure to see the Left attack Fred! so often - proof that they see him as a major threat.

I soooooooo look forward to Fred! as the President of the United States.

Fred speaks simply. True, he does not equivocate or give long wordy evasions to questions. But simple answers that are eloquent in their delivery. Perhaps thats why the libs can not understand him. Instead of tossing bs in the air to hide his position (or lack therof) he just lays it out. Libs seem to hate that. When the answer is clear they have no room to manuever.

For those who haven't come across it before...

During Fred!s time in the senate, there was a bill on which he was the only dissenting voice in a 99-1 vote. The issue? A federal good-Samaritan law. (If I'm correct there are currently active good-Sam laws in 48 states) Fred's objection was simple. The concept of the good-Samaritan law was clearly under state jurisdiction according to the 10th amendment, and regardless of the good intentions upon which the bill was founded, it was unconstitutional for the federal government to subsume the states' power of self-determination in such matters.

A politician who does the right thing under his oath of office, knowing that people will raise the claim that "he's against good samaritans!", indicates an integrity which is rarely encountered in the halls of Congress these days.

Fred is for real, and that's good enough for me. I'd rather have a president who "appeared" boring, while leading properly, than one who is "invested in the defeat of his own country".

Mr. Thompson won as often as Mrs. Clinton did, and twice as often as Mr. Obama.

But, heh, he's not a woman and he's not Black. And he's not "multilingual" either, and "this country is ready for a multilingual president". Get is 'imbecils'?

amerpundit on May 2, 2007 at 2:37 PM - fully agree - nor do I believe that he would ever make such a claim. He's happy to have the support of the Reagan camp, though, and for good reason.

techno-barbarian, thanks for those stats.

techno-barbarian, thanks for those stats.

I can't help but notice how plainspoken he is compared to other candidates. He actually awnsers the questions, or he says no I dont want to talk about that. Contrast to Hillary - she awnsers literally saying things like "I think the real question is....." or "What I really want to say is...." and doesnt awnser the question that was asked.

Are Republicans still pretending that it’s the “far left” that wants the U.S. out of Iraq?

Are the Democrats still pretending to support the troops?

While you mock Fred’s apparently boring qualities, he sure as hell wouldn’t have let Osama sit in his cross hairs for 2 weeks and let him slip away. So, I don’t give a rat’s @ss if he’s talks slowly, or isn’t jumping up and down on a couch, if he keeps my family safe.

amerpundit on May 2, 2007 at 11:25 AM
Here you make the seminal point for me. Keeps my family safe. I feel safe when I see Fred and when he speaks, what he says comforts me. His concerns are my concerns. Anyone who could compare him to watching paint dry is ignorant and has a short attention span and a whole lot of fear. Run, Fred. Please Run.

I really hope he does run.
His character reminds me a lot of Ronnie's.

If he runs... he definately has my vote!

Amen! Amazing that some guys (Bradky) can't figure out what a girl really wants... Sure, he's old enough to be my father, but I'm right there with you girl!
