Spiderman 3 trailer: Sandman

Wired has the latest Spidey trailer, in which we get a good look at Sandman.

You know what annoys me about this movie? That it’s already playing outside the US.

Looks totally awesome. I’m going to have to break away from family for a period of time this weekend so that I can “study” for my final exam. It’ll have to be some place “quiet” and “isolated”. Where I can’t answer the phone, of course…. :)

Rated E for emo imo.

Mary Jane is always worth waiting for.

Halley on May 2, 2007 at 12:29 PM

You’re joking right? Dunst is a butter face.

lorien1973 on May 2, 2007 at 12:38 PM

Please tell me it isn’t veiled trutherism……(24, Jericho, Heroes, Lost)….can’t.handle.any.more.truth. I want my Spiderman with skinned up knuckles and a USMC tattoo on his shoulder, not Jack Bauer in a pink t-shirt.

When has Spidey been anything but angst ridden? He’s always been the nerdy kid with the heart of gold, not the big, popular kid.

Since I’ve seen it already, I can tell you that the Sandman is basically the only good and interesting thing about this way-too-long movie. For the person who said Mary Jane is worth waiting for, PUH-LEEZE! All she does is cry (though Spidey/Peter Parker cries even more!) and whine, and in real life, Kirsten Dunst/Dunce urged everyone to do pot, saying the world would be a better place–exactly what we need a starlet from a movie heavily marketed to kids, telling them. Not. And FYI, Marvel Studios is now giving exclusive Arab-only internships out, so not exactly a studio, which should be rewarded at the box office.

I love Toby McGuire but never thought Dunst was right for the part. She was not believeable as a billboard drop dead gorgeous model and I think she’s a fruitcake in real life. I have really enjoyed the movies and look forward to this one. My grandson is a Spiderman nut.

You lost me there. I’m not sure about the other shows, but where is the “truther” stuff in Lost and Heroes? Just curious.
As for Spidey, Sandman looks awesome. I’m a little skeptical on the Venom angle though. It’ll probably be more of a sidenote than a real plot point.

Debbie Schlussel on May 2, 2007 at 1:08 PM

Well, now no one will see it.
But Dunst is an idiot. And what’s with those teeth? Blech.

SouthernDem on May 2, 2007 at 1:28 PM

The whole ‘star chamber’, evil gov’t/industrialist conspiracy stuff. Everything is a conspiracy. A b s o l u t e l y everything in these shows. The lone gunman with a Satan gene doesn’t exsist anymore. No more good vs evil…it is medium grey against medium dark grey.

Limerick on May 2, 2007 at 1:34 PM

Look at the ABC news story today about the doctor who claims that ‘moral behavior’ is genetic. We are hard wired you see. Makes religion pointless doesn’t it? If you are not moral it is a disease. A DNA defect that can be corrected.

Well, I certainly see the conspiracy stuff with the shows, which actually makes it more complex and mysterious. Evil lone gunman just don’t cut it in a serial show. That’s more CSI, no? I just love some good old sci-fi, try not to read too much into the plot and avoid the shows that try to make some sort of, you know, point. And by the way, the bad guys in Heroes, IMHO, are pretty blatantly evil.

SouthernDem on May 2, 2007 at 1:46 PM

Point taken Dem. You all know how my brain fogs up sometimes. Just ask the wife.

“feels good”

Drtuddle on May 2, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Syler is pretty much the evil lone gunman in Hero’s. Lindermans a cold bastiche but with his own agenda. How much the government controlls his organisation is debatable.

This is not, in fact, the “latest trailer”…in fact it’s about 6 months old.

A-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Wooo-HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! YeeeeAAAAAH, man! We’re stickin’ it to those authority type peoples with our we-e-e-e-e-eed!

Dude… that’s lame.

ScottMcC on May 2, 2007 at 3:51 PM

I get the feeling it’s possible that this movie may end up being the least successful of the Spider-movie franchise. With the way Dunst screwed up in Britain, and if Maguire whines too much, all that could amount to some bad omens for the movie.

By the way, any chance that Marvel Studios could be legally blocked from doing business with Dubai to open up a theme park there? Because their management is asking for trouble…and loss of respect.

You know what annoys me about this movie? That it’s already playing outside the US.

This is why so many people were able to download it. It will definitely dent ticket sales.

Nothing new under the sun. C.S. Lewis predicted this scenario almost perfectly in The Abolition of Man. That a certain generation of humanity would exercise medical control over the following generation under the guise of “fixing” dysfunctional genetics, and that the humanity which follows from then on would be far less human as a result, with far less power to control their own destiny.

What does smoking marijuana or drinking before you’re 21 etc. have anything to do with “stickin’ it to those authority type peoples”?

Nonfactor on May 2, 2007 at 8:06 PM

I don’t know much about the whole Venom-Spiderman story, but in Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the Xbox, you can change Spidey’s red-and-blue costume to the black “symbiote” pre-Venom costume… and it kinda sucks.

It doesn’t make him stronger or faster or give you any benefit at all. I think some dopes just like the idea of heroes having a sooper seekrit dark side.

Not me. I play with Captain America and have gone out of my way to make him the most badass character I have. If only he could heal as fast as Wolverine, my Cap would be able to take an assassin’s bullet from Booooosh and his cabal of neocon Jooooooooooos.

Umm, just because there’s a conspiracy involved doesn’t make it “trutherism”. Conspiracy theories and movies involving conspiracy theories have been here long before 9/11.
