Never refer to the lefties as 'progressive', without single quotes around the word.

They are the biggest pretenders in the world. Examples abound.

I hope that Sandmonkey has a way out of Egypt if things get too shaky for him. I'd hate to see him get the same as that Kareem guy. It sucks that he had to shut down, I would drop by his site from time to time because he has such a unique perspective that you just couldn't get anywhere else. And he's right about everything, the nonsense that Pelosi and the like are engaging in is going to cause these problems, because the little tyrants that rule these countries now think we're gonna give em an inch, so they'll take a mile, it'll cause problems for those who resist the dictatorships, and in the long run it'll bite us back.

The Left appears to care only about gainging political advantage. Detriment to freedom in other countries, interests of the United States, or our military's safety and success is not a signficant concern to them.

Pelosi should have taken "Hanoi Jane", Sheehan, and Penn with her, they all would fit in nicely together.

Nancy’s brains are in her breasts.

I thought she had plastic surgery on those...does that mean her brains aren't real either? That would explain her foreign policy thinking.

No, not only haven't they thought this through, they don't even care. Just another problem that they mysteriously can solve to justify their power.

It is sad that Sandmonkey has had to shut down. Being a long time reader of his site I saw this coming a mile off. You cannot protest in Egypt against anything the gov't is doing unless you want to end up beaten and thrown in jail...
For those of us that want to stay current with events in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, etc. it is a real loss as he monitored sites and provided terrific links. I will miss him.

Proof again that the Dummiecrats are always on the wrong side of democracy and this country. Bush would have made a powerful point by arresting Snake Eyes Pelosi on her return from Syria as she did break federal law by going there in the first place and snuggling with our enemies.

I think it is also partially the Bush administration's fault that dictators don't take us seriously anymore.

Why are we even discussing talks with Iran? Why does President Bush never use the bully pulpit to explain why the War on Terror is necessary?

He is too nice of a guy. When Pelosi went to Syria, all we got was "We didn't want her to go." The American people didn't get any explanation the reasons why she shouldn't have gone. That would have been too mean and not part of his "new tone" that he has never given up--a tone that has really damaged conservatism.

We aren’t interested in the discussion anymore because we can’t find Syria on the map, or Iraq, or Canada for that matter. Why should we care? We have Simon, Paula and Randy.
Anything outside the borders of Disneyland isn’t important.

As the old joke about the Lone Ranger and Tonto goes, "Who's 'we,' Paleface?" I'm sure that most, if not all of the people who visit this site care deeply, and can find any of those countries (except Canada, which anyone can miss, all tucked away down there.)

There may be parallels, however, I was momentarily confused with what those, or mexican flags for that matter, have in common with the original thread about an Egyptian blogger forced into retirement discussing the repercussions of Pelosi's visit and his concern that America is asleep.

At least in WW2 days the Country was, for the most part, behind the effort.

As to the original thread, I always wanted to have lived in the early to mid 1800s American west, but as it turns out I’m being forced to live in a bad recreation of the 1930s.

What?

. . . nevermind . .

What disturbs me the most about that interview is this exchange.

ATLAS: As an Egyptian who understands democracy, life, liberty the pursuit of happiness....and who admires America. Looking at America, I want to know what you see.

SANDMONKEY: I'm seeing a country in great danger. Simply speaking, I don't think the people get what's at stake anymore. I don't think they see where they are heading.

Maybe we could excercise our freedom of speech by holding a pulic flag burning, Mexican flags.

Oops, that would be ‘disturbing the peace”, “incitement to riot”, or whatever.

By the way, Happy “May Day” everyone. If you need a Mexican flag, I know where you can steal one. Oh, I’m sorry, that would be breaking the law…….

Maybe we could excercise our freedom of speech by holding a pulic flag burning, Mexican flags.

Oops, that would be 'disturbing the peace", "incitement to riot", or whatever.

Follow up: Hey honora and the like... a question:

When the governments that spawn the terrorists that would kill themselves, or send their children to kill themselves, to kill us in our schools, shopping malls, churches, play grounds, sports stadiums, parks, etc., who control every aspect of their lives, what they are taught in schools, what they see in the limited media, what they are instructed to do by religion, and they use the Democratic Party's of the United States as talking points to make thier point, and you can not blame it on President Bush anymore, what are you going to do?

Where is the "switch" to turn off all the "hatred" that the left has generated just for a political point?

When will you have the opportunity to tell the world, "Hey, don't kill us, we really aren't that bad, we just wanted our political power back..."

If we do pull our troops out, and Iran uses Iraq as a "killing field" to train generations of terrorist, will you then allow us to drill for oil in the United States, or will we have to pay the terrorist for oil that they will then buy weapons to kill us from China and Russia?

You have thought this through, right? You have thought of the consequences, right? You know we are at war, right?

If these things are brought up to Pelosi, Reid, and the lefty nutroot crowd, they will either say that Sandmonkey has his own agenda (if you call freedom of speach, not getting your head cut off, etc. an agenda), is in league with Carl Rove (the devil), or blame it on "Bushes failed foreign policies" directly. As long as she can further <strike>her</strike> Soros's agenda, who cares if Rome burns? Like Nero they will just convert the newly cleared ground into monuments to themselves. That is if the Islamist don't cut off Soros's head for being an infidel with too much influence and Pelosi can stomach being "seen" in public in a head-to-toe burka

Also like Nero, history will heap centuries of scorn on them for their meglomania at the expence of all else, and us if we do nothing to stop them.

BTW: For me this an excercise in "be careful what you ask for" thing. I've always said that I wanted to live in the past, but I was thinking of the mid 1800s, not the 1930s. Too many parallels here. In the '30s the Libs were all for national socialism, this is no different. One of two things (or both) will have to happen to even start to wake up the American public and start to turn things around: 1) a massive education campaign to wise up the population to the true nature of Islam (not bloody likely in the current PC environment) or 2) several large, very high casualty strikes on the Jeudeo/Christian world to slap us awake to the real and present danger.

For the short term it would be nice to see campaign commercials listing the damage and consequences, in real terms, of the Libs extreme shortsightedness.

I can just see the next three generations of terrorists, educated by their progressive governments, media, and movies, showing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, "The Blinker", "The Swimmer", "The Flipper", "Mrs. Bill Clinton", "Mr. 'I never met a Nazi I couldn't compare the American Soldier too' Durbin", and the rest, edited to perfection to espouse their propoganda and hatred toward the United States and all of it's citizens.....

Yes, actions and words have consequences, but the likes of "The Blinker" can't see it until it is cutting off the heads of her grandchildren........ Well done, Ms. Speaker, and the Press, you will also be remembered in history... It's just not President Bush that you have harmed, it's all of us.

What damage have you done? What damage have you truly done?
