I really like Robert. He has the unique quality of cutting through the BS.

I am glad to hear that Mitt! gets it.

csdeven on May 1, 2007 at 9:36 AM

OK, so this isn’t quite the same scale of Jihad Watch, but the missus went to Whole Foods yesterday to buy her goddamned organic hippie chow, and at the bottom of the receipt is printed, “Your cashier today is JIHAD.”

I might have to go buy some ham and see what Jihad does.

saint kansas on May 1, 2007 at 9:39 AM

Robert, You forget that the laws of Dhimmitude Democrats follow the pretext of political correctness and prevent the asking of such common sense life saving questions, such as the ones you have mentioned. These questions would only serve to anger those who follow the religion of peace, and would greatly reduce the changes of the Dhimmicrats from being elected into office.

KCtheKat on May 1, 2007 at 9:51 AM

First and foremost, liberal Godless minds are spiritually blind. After that, the truth in their minds becomes what they want to believe regardless of what the truth really is. Deceived, and deceiving others, is how the Bible puts it.

NRA4Freedom on May 1, 2007 at 10:19 AM

Robert has a gift for pointing out the 800 lb gorilla which the dhimmicrats will refuse to see even as it is tearing them to pieces.

And Mitt just jumped up a couple notches in my view.

csdeven on May 1, 2007 at 10:27 AM

Oh please, why would anyone need to ask questions like Robert suggests. What we really want to know is who killed Anna Smith? Where can I buy carbon offsets? Why are we making such a big deal about the ‘undocumented workers? Some meaty issues.

Wade on May 1, 2007 at 10:40 AM

goddamned organic hippie chow

LOL

Robert asks some great questions which candidates will never have to address, as no one in the media will ask them.

Doug on May 1, 2007 at 10:41 AM

I have a suggestion for the next set of Republican and Democrat debates.
Why don’t we have people who know something about certain issues, like Robert Spencer on the Jihad movement and other experts in their fields, ask the questions of the candidates. It would be interesting to see their answers when having to deal with someone who knows the issue, not a stuffed shirt like the MSM anchors we always see moderating.
Oh, and let them have a penalty, Bullshit Flag, to throw when they get caught lying.

ic1redeye on May 1, 2007 at 10:53 AM

Ahhh… but you see they would have to throw out their moral and cultural relativism to denote a non christian religious group as the enemy…

I’ve asked the question of Islamic writers on the web… just what to YOU call the terrorists?… I’ve asked that a number of times, and have yet to get an answer… because their IS no word to differentiate between a peaceful Moslem, and a Jihadist… which is a large part of the problem.

2Th 2:10
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Th 2:11
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Oh, and let them have a penalty, Bullshit Flag, to throw when they get caught lying.
ic1redeye on May 1, 2007 at 10:53 AM

It would become a flag throwing Frenzy!

abinitioadinfinitum on May 1, 2007 at 11:12 AM

Well God help us if any of them get elected. You think the Carter era was bad?! Ugh.

foxforce91 on May 1, 2007 at 11:49 AM

Great Vent Robert Spencer! Robert sets a high standard for accurate reporting, clear rationale, and to-the-point commentary that is just plain good common sense. More Please!

Our biggest weakness, the Left with it’s notions of politically correct multi-culturalism, is not going to give the clear identification of our enemies as Robert requests until AFTER we have at least one more major disaster, and then only maybe.

It’s great that flip-floppin’ Romney is talking about global jihad now that he’s running for President. But check out the anti-American stuff he said to The Guardian when he was running the Olympics. He’s neither to be believed or trusted . . . on this or any other issue.

Debbie Schlussel on May 1, 2007 at 12:24 PM

Debbie,

Believed? He called it what it is. I understand having issue with the comment he made it the UK (which I do not because I don’t know the context of the statement), but I do not see how that precludes him from saying anything truthful.

csdeven on May 1, 2007 at 12:46 PM

Puh-leeze. We know he called it what it is. But we don’t know if he believes that. Surely, you are aware of all of Romney’s flip-flops on every single position. He’s a complete phony. Suddenly, he is supposed to be sincere on this issue. Come on. Get real. He is also now pro-life, when he was the left of Ted Kennedy on this issue when Club Ted was his opponent. If you believe he’s sincere on that (and on global jihad), I have some land under a bridge to sell you.

As for “the context” of his comments against America, the “context” is quite clear. Like all the liberals, liberal Romney was denouncing Americans for cheering for America in the first Olympics since 9/11 (only a few months after the attacks). If you can’t get that, I don’t think any “context” will be enough for you.

Debbie Schlussel on May 1, 2007 at 1:45 PM

My eyes! Ms. Schlussel, Ted Kennedy man-boob warning on your link, please! Must…bleach…corneas.

saint kansas on May 1, 2007 at 2:02 PM

The Democrats will say whatever they feel is most likely to get them elected, particularly in the general election. If elected, even Hillary will revert to “Why do they hate us?”. “First response” and “criminal investigations” will be the only techniques supported. Outreach to the Muslim community will have Karen Armstrong, Nihad Awad and Ibrahim Hooper as Administration consultants. Robert Spencer, Steven Emerson and Kenneth Timmerman will be ignored or condemned as encouraging hatred. Ayaan Hirsan Ali, Wafa Sultan, Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, et al., will be explained away as “Well, that’s their individual experience with those few who pervert the ROP™.”

Also, Debbie, if Romney or Rudy or anyone else unacceptable is the nominee, do you do something like stay home, or support a third-party candidate - both of which will guarantee a Dem victory and increase to deafeningly-loud the Administration’s whistling-past-the-graveyard?

eeyore on May 1, 2007 at 2:17 PM

I think it proves that “fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them here” is working. It doesn’t seem real since it is “out of site out of these dummies minds” I dson’t know what they think they areseeing on the news everyday.

Drtuddle on May 1, 2007 at 3:35 PM

Surprised, I was, that Mrs. Bill Clinton raised her hand first.

Surely, you are aware of all of Romney’s flip-flops on every single position.
Debbie Schlussel on May 1, 2007 at 1:45 PM

Yes I am, he’s after all, from Massachusetts, a place where they desecrate lobsters on hotdog rolls and mayonnaise .

And don’t call me Shirley.

We do need to identify our enemies. It is sad we fail at even doing that.

As to the Romney statement I fail to see anything anti american in it. It seems to be imagined hypocrisy on Schussel’s part.

I like Rudy the best of those announced and running. While he is bad on far too many issues, he has never wavered on the most important one: terrorism and Islam. He has always done the right, tough, and unpopular thing on that, whether it was Yasser Arafat or Prince AlWaleed Bin Talal (the 6% owner of FOX News Channel). I will be voting for Rudy. We are talking here about a nomination for the GOP, not the general. I will never vote for Hillary, Hussein, or any of the other yahoos they have running. But the only one who can beat Hillary Cankles is Rudy.

As to the Romney statement I fail to see anything anti american in it. It seems to be imagined hypocrisy on Schussel’s part.

MarkB on May 1, 2007 at 4:36 PM

Nothing “imagined.” The Guardian quoted him, and he didn’t dispute the quote. He attacked America and Americans right after 9/11, b/c that’s what his buds on the far-left, America-hating International Olympic Committee wanted. Sad this means nothing to you.

Debbie Schlussel on May 1, 2007 at 5:27 PM

Humm this is interesting huh Debbie?

Salt Lake Olympic organizers will honor Sept. 11 survivors and victims during the 2002 Winter Games’ opening ceremonies — but not as part of the internationally televised program.
A tribute “of some kind” will occur in the hour before the 7 p.m. show starts, between performers warming up and the audience being entertained and trained for its role in the festivities, Salt Lake Organizing Committee President Mitt Romney told the Deseret News.
Lights have been illuminating the University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles field — a k a “Olympic Stadium” — late into the night recently for rehearsals and stage construction. Still, particulars of the ceremonies the evening of Feb. 8 remain a closely held SLOC secret.
Romney hinted at some elements. Mostly, though, he talks about what opening night will not be.
“It’s not designed to be a patriotic, American display,” he said.
“Our view was that while the experience of 9/11 certainly impacts all of us, there should not be a direct tribute in the ceremony itself,” he said. SLOC will look to incorporate the American flag retrieved from the World Trade Center rubble into the event.
Romney said Salt Lake opening ceremonies producer Don Mischer told him the Los Angeles and Atlanta Summer Games were criticized for being “so American.”
While Romney said that while he personally found the Los Angeles event fabulous, “around the world it was like, ‘Boy, those Americans, always beating their chests.’ ”
He wants to avoid a jingoistic tone. “This not our time to talk about how great America is and have our military parade up and down the field and so forth,” Romney said.
Actually, the program did not change in the wake of the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. The Salt Lake show was well along before Sept. 11 and was sketched out, including general music, before the 2000 spectacle in Australia, Romney said.
He said he hopes the event touches people’s hearts, though “I don’t think we’ll possibly dazzle them like Sydney did.”
The show isn’t choreographed to be like past opening ceremonies, though spectators might find some elements to be familiar. Romney wanted to pull some parts out so it didn’t look like Salt Lake City was copying Sydney.
But he said Mischer told him there’s only a certain number of things that can be done on a football field.
The ceremonies will reflect the culture and history of Utah and the American West, Romney said. They also will highlight Olympic spirit and the international community.
One thing about the opening ceremonies that Romney says is keeping him awake nights is an element he can’t control:
The weather.
Snow would be OK, he said, but rain could wash away some of the ice props in the program. Also, performers in large costumes (which he declined to describe) “would be blown away” should heavy winds kick up

I haven’t read or heard of Mitt! being an apologist for terrorists etc. If you have some quotes, then please share them. I don’t see how you berating Mitt! for his flip flops and holding your nose on Rudys flip flops is consistant when neither candidate has ever shown weakness on the terror issue.

As far as being pro-life now, I’m giving him a pass on that issue. The issue I will not give him a pass on is the gun issue.

As far as the Olympics goes, I’d like to hear how Mitt!s comment damages america. Specifically give some examples. Preferrable examples that are plausible.

As far as who can beat who, how do you know what the dynamics of the primary will be in 9 months? You’ve pidgeon-holed yourself into a position that is by no means settled. Are you a Rudyite or a conservative? Will you cast a vote for Mitt! if the polls (which is what you presumable are reacting to) show that Rudy cannot beat whoever the front runner dem is while Mitt! can?

“Journalists” really need to be more vigilant when they are going to try and smear someone in the google age. The quote she posts cleary has nothing to do with 9/11 or terrorism. He was talking about complaints about previous olympic ceremonies, not even the one he was planning.

Resolute on May 1, 2007 at 7:50 PM

Real answers depend on real questions.

These Adult Tap-dancing Demonstrations (AKA “Debates”)manage to find questioners dumber than the dumb, but cunning politicos.

Which is why they end up running in predictable circles around will-o-the-wisps instead of facing hard questions such as Mr. Spencer suggests.

One I wanted posed:

How would you define “Islamofascism“?

(The candidates would wear out a ton of ‘taps’ going around that one.)

Your post is spot on NRA4F. I’d like to give you a couple verses I was reading last night. The Book of Romans Chapter 11 Verses 8-10. It even describes the Islamic technique of prayer as bending their back always. It was a punishment to Jews. Could this have spawned Islam? Fear God not ANY man!
